Congratulations to both of you for making to the end! I'm happy for you but then this FTC has been like meh.
Anyway, let me preface this by saying that I enjoyed playing the game with you both for the most part and nothing I write here is to be taken personally but strictly about your gameplay or lack thereof in $tupid $urvivor.
Sadly I couldn't vote for the person I was rooting for to win - Whydon and now I am really struggling to decide who I would want to vote for here. So I hope you can answer my questions truthfully.
Alimdia, my timezone buddy, at final 6 you said to me how you were a goat with literally zero successful plan up to that point. We all can agree on that, right? Why should you be rewarded with the win when you only stepped up in the late game?
Also I strongly disliked the tantrum you threw at me when you found out I didn't vote Laurel with you. Was it just you being emotional or was there any strategic reason behind being upset? Why did you feel entitled to me voting with you when I had tried to save you a few times prior to that and you had other allies that you had been working with?
Second point is on your "honesty" brand. How insulting was it to tell me you had always been honest when you made stupid lies that only Cel would buy? You posted the screenshot from the song mv as idol but claimed it's the idol that vig passed to tbz to pass to you. Like did you seriously think anyone of us would be stupid enough to believe in your illogical lies? That's clearly the merge idol you found and you won't have played the way you did if you had 2 idols to secure a spot in the final 4. Like why came up with such a stupid lie to me after laurel got idoled out by you? It's seriously very insulting that you would come up with such a stupid lie and thought I would believe it. Can you please tell me what other stupid lies you made that you thought other players would buy?
I am not sure if I will be allowed or have time to ask more questions so I will put down others questions I have in mind for both of you to answer here:
- Why should I NOT vote for you to win?
- How did you overcome the inconvenience caused by timezone difference, if any?
- I am a money man so I gotta ask, if you won the $100, how would you plan to spend it?
- We love speculating crazy stupid twists in this game don't we? What do you think the tie breaker would be if it's 3-3 here?
Thank you both for taking your time to read and reply to my questions. Good luck!
Hi $pecies,
At the final 6, I said that yes. It was mainly to lower my threat level. Keep in mind, this is before we knew about the F6 twist.
Yes, I have done relatively no moves compared to players like you, Joe, Texas, Laurel. However, because you guys are such visible threats, that is also why you guys are on the jury. There is a huge trade off between having lots of jury credit and making it to the end. You are a survivor fan, you know this to be true. It is a goat war at the end, and I just have to not be the biggest goat. Stepping up in the late game is definitely a valid strategy, and one that I believe I did quite well.
Regarding my tantrum at the F10 vote. There was a strategic element to it.
The way I see it, if it was a 4v1, a 3:1:1 split would be sufficient, why 2:2:1? (See how I exploited it in the final 5... an attempted 2:2:1 by Cel made it into a 2:3!)
If it was a 3v2, there is no amount of vote split that can prevent a correct idol play. So at first, I was telling the above to you.
I know you are a good strategic player, so you definitely knew about this. I was not satisfied with your explanation.
Let me tell you this. I'm not bitter. In unreal all stars, I was voted out by my ally at F3. I still voted for him to win. So I know when to say 'it's all good, nice move, well played after someone leaves me out of a vote'.
After I poked some holes in your reasoning, I can't just turn around and say 'Yeah, we're all good haha'. That would seem very unnatural and you are too good of a player to believe I suddenly forgive you for leaving me out of a vote so fast.
You'll think I am BSing. So I had to continue the upset act for a while. I don't feel entitled to your vote. However, I felt like you traded long term benefits (our trust) for some short term gains (blindside, big moves, flush Joe's idol)
Regarding my honesty brand, I searched in our 1:1s, and I don't think I claimed that. I notice you did say 'Don't come into FTC claiming you played an honest game'.
What I did say was that I was 'loyal'. I left out the part where my loyalty has an expiration date.
But you are right, I am not honest. You can't really win a game by being honest, unless you are relying on a bitter jury. You are additionally right - playing an honest game is easier than lying strategically.
So I lied my ass off strategically when needed. I can't even remember all of them, but off the top of my head: when you told me the idol clue "AND I MISS YOU :EYES:', at that point I had already found the idol, so I pretended to not have seen it.
I also didn't tell anyone when I found it. That was obviously exposed when I played the idol.
Regarding my idol lie at the F5. So what happened was that I had the following plan, mainly borne from desperation.
1) tell everyone I have another idol, the merge one and tbz's one
2) when questioned about the picture, tell them I played the wrong one.
Joe asked me so I told him 2). Unfortunately, you didn't ask me so I can't just randomly volunteer that info as it would look suspicious.
I also remembered that I told you in sydvivor, my ally and me made a fake idol at F5, so it was not really a high percentile plan I admit.
1) Why should I NOT vote for you to win?
If you want to award Cel your vote for being partners in crime most of the game.
2) How did you overcome the inconvenience caused by timezone difference, if any?
I woke up very early when the deadline was early, except that one time I accidentally self voted. I put more effort in socialising in the early and mid game because I have a smaller window of time to socialise with people.
3) I am a money man so I gotta ask, if you won the $100, how would you plan to spend it?
I would use it for prizes for my other ORGs that I host. So far my prizes have only been $5 and what not, and my friend Quinn had a $50 prize for one of his orgs.
4) We love speculating crazy stupid twists in this game don't we? What do you think the tie breaker would be if it's 3-3 here?
Nice question. Maybe the pre-jury or the spectators get 1 single vote. Maybe in true hal style, there is another challenge.
To cut in on your question to Cel, definitely Species you had the 2nd highest shot after Joe in the F5. He had to cut you at F4 at least but F5 was definitely bad lol.
