This isn't a veto but for next time please put all your submissions in one post rather than making multiple.

The people with vetoed subs have 24 hours to fix them, and for everyone else, you have 24 hours to make a Cleric if you so desire. We could use a couple more subs for that subclass (the only restriction is that you have to use a mon that already has HP as its highest stat, you can do whatever you want otherwise).

Hope everyone liked their week-long 24 hour warning. Every submission is legal. I’ve been busy, but if you guys want a shorter turnaround on these please contact me once voting is complete.

And speaking of voting, that can begin now! You can vote for up to 6 Pokémon in each major category, with one SV for every two other votes you submit in that category. As for the Cleric, you can vote for up to 3, with the same SV rules. Voting will end after I provide a 24 hour warning. Thank you all for your patience, and good luck!

At long, LONG last, I would like to present the first Pokémon voted into Shellder’s Gate

Giants:

Spageddy :)
:sm/tangrowth:
Pokémon: Tangrowth
Class: Giant
Type:
Grass
Rock

Stats: 105 / 100 / 65 / 60 / 100 / 20
Abilities: Solid Rock / Overgrow / Regenerator
Move Changes:
+ Spikes, Stone Edge, Rock Blast, Smack Down
-
Custom Elements: N/A
Justification: average regen grass type. also sets spikes for something to do
Lizerd :)
:sv/koraidon:
Pokémon: Koraidon
Class: Giant
Type: Dragon/Fighting
Stats: 123/119/81/77/67/103
Abilities: Protosynthesis
Move Changes:
+Defog
-Scale Shot, Sword Dance
Justification: Fairly fast and bulky offensive pivot that can Defog. Can generally act a nice Scarfer thanks to powerful STAB options (notably Close Combat) and U-Turn, but can also run Choice Band for power or simple Leftovers/Boots set if you're looking for flexibility. Bulk Up and Taunt are also nice options. You have decent coverage for Fairies, but still have to watch out a bit as they can stuff it pretty hard.
Alchemists:

I don’t really have a joke for this one it’s just really creative and cool and I’m glad the voters seemed to agree.
:sv/chien-pao:
Pokémon: Chien-Pao
Class: Alchemist
Type: Dark / Poison
Stats: 111 / 90 / 80 / 84 / 85 / 110 (565)
Abilities: Plaguebringer
Move Changes:
+Inoculate, Gunk Shot, Poison Jab, Toxic
-All Ice moves
Custom Elements:
Plaguebringer - This Pokemon's moves with a chance to poison always badly poison instead. This Pokemon can poison Steel-types.
Inoculate - Poison-type - 80 BP - 10/16 PP - Physical - Biting move
Has a 50% chance to poison the opponent.
Justification: Chien-Pao alchemized too hard and accidentally caused the plague. Spreads status, is fast, is pretty bulky. Held back by a bad typing and generally low offenses.
ONE GOURGILLION WINS
:sv/gourgeist:
Pokémon: Gourgeist
Class: Alchemist
Type:

Stats: 105 / 63 / 92 / 105 / 80 / 54 [499 BST]
Abilities: Pickup / Frisk / No Guard [HA]
Move Changes:
+ Inferno
- Moonblast
Justification: Maintains the class stereotype of status spreading, but in a more offensive context. Main idea is offensive status spreading via No Guard Inferno, which can then be monopolized upon with full power Hexes. Main counter to this Mon would be Fire types, given they resist Inferno (& immune to burn), and also resist Grass STAB
Chefs:

Literal rat bastard I love it
:sm/dedenne:
Pokémon: Dedenne
Class: Chef
Type:
Electric
Fire

Stats: 120 / 95 / 60 / 45 / 70 / 100
Abilities: Cheek Pouch / Volt Absorb
Move Changes:
+ Fire Punch, Flare Blitz, Belly Drum
-
Custom Elements: N/A
Justification: had this idea in my head for like a month but never got the chance to execute it, but here it is now. belly drum fire dedenne
Thank fuck it’s not another grass mon hooooooly shit
:xy/exeggutor:
Pokémon: Exegutor
Class: Chef
Type: Poison/Psychic
Stats: 125/85/85/85/95/55
Abilities: Harvest/Chlorophyll/Ripen
Move Changes:
+ Chow Down, Belch, Poison Jab
- Energy Ball, Wood Hammer, Synthesis, Leech Seed
Custom Elements:
Type: Poison
Category: Status
PP: 8
Accuracy: N/A
Effect: Eats held berry. Raises Defense and Special Defense by one stage
Justification: Bulky annoying wall that has a ridiculous amount of survivability as long as it has Chow Down PP, but seriously lacks longevity. If you are cool, run a stat boosting berry to have a sweeper
Cleric:

No joke here either, I’m just gonna use this platform to say I hate Brionne. Primarina’s fine, and Popplio is too, but for some reason I REALLY don’t like Brionne’s design, hurts my eyes ngl.
:sm/primarina:

Pokémon: Primarina
Class: Cleric
Type: Water/Fairy
Stats: 118/56/74/116/106/60(530)
Abilities: Torrent/Liquid Voice
Move Changes:
+ Eerie Spell, Roar, Noble Roar, Snarl
- Scald
Custom Elements:
Effect: Sparking Aria Now clears the whole teams status when used
Effect: Sound moves become water type and heal the user by 1/8th on use
Justification: idk it’s pretty clericy
Congratulations to all our winners, but before you go I have some more to say. First off, I appreciate the diversity within roles, and even within subclasses, that you guys made. It’s always nice to see the concept of a mod come into its own. That said, I’d love to see the concept of THIS mod come into its own considerably faster, and I recognize that in this environment, a month-long slate turnaround is far too much. As such, I’d like to announce that I’m officially looking for council members for Shellder’s Gate. A coder would be greatly appreciated as well, and if you’re a coder and want to join the council that’s great, but what this mod primarily needs are people to keep slates moving in a timely manner. I don’t really have a form to fill out, so instead just dm me on discord with:
1. Your name on smogon
2. Your general prior modding/council experience
3. Why you’re interested in joining the Shellder’s Gate Council/What you bring
4. (Optional) Potential changes to the Shellder’s Gate formula

Congratulations to the winners once again, and if you’re considering applying for the council, good luck!

Class Slate 2: Attack

I sincerely apologize for the long wait, but we’re starting this up again. Fortunately class slates are a bit simpler, so I can start this back up fast and, depending on how long it takes to get submissions, close it fast too.

You can make up to 2 classes for this slate, with one requirement in both having to be that the Pokémon in this class’s highest stat must be Attack. From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely thank you all for your patience, and good luck!

- Must have access to one of these moves Wave Crash, Explosion, Self Destruct, Head Smash, Brave Bird, Double Edge, Misty Explosion, Wood Hammer, Flare Blitz, Steel Beam, High Jump Kick, Jump Kick, Axe Kick, that one electric attack they just added
- Attack as their highest or second highest stat
Eligible Pokémon
Extra Restrictions after Pokémon phase:
- The Pokémon in this class must end up having at least one of the following types: Normal Steel Rock Water Fairy Grass Fire Flying Electric (Types with distributed “recoil” moves 100 bp or greater)
- Must be given a recoil move it can effectively use (Ie usage in its main set) can be custom
-The Pokémon’s next highest stat must be either HP or Defense
-Ability must be related to either recoil moves, or loss/conservation/recovery of hp or health related effects, or the increase of attack due to these effects (Magic Guard, Rock Head, Regenerator, Reckless, Aftermath or a custom similar
Description/Justification: while not having many in game examples, a class that has bulk but utilizes a recoil move would be pretty cool. Think stuff like staraptor Barbarians are often defined by their high attack and reckless tendencies

Extra Restrictions after Pokémon phase:
- This Pokemon must have Attack as its highest stat.
- This Pokemon must have one of the following types: Bug, Dark, Dragon, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Grass, Ground, Normal, Poison, Water

Description/Justification: Wild Beasts that can tear their target to pieces if they get their jaws on them. They also very aggressively control their territory. Types are generally based off of more "natural" forces.

:ceruledge: :gallade: :samurott:
Primary Stat: Atk (A)
Extra Restrictions before Pokemon Phase:
-This Pokemon must have a slicing move
-This Pokemon must learn a Steel-type move that isnt on the "usually useless" category on showdown
Extra Restrictions after Pokemon Phase:
-This Pokemon's highest stat must be Atk
-This Pokemon's only coverage moves must be slicing moves
-This Pokemon's types must be part Steel, Dark or Fighting type
Description/Justification:
Swordfighters are everywhere in medieval fantasy worlds

Sorry bout this one Gabo
:kartana::ceruledge::samurott-hisui:
Primary Stat: Attack (A)
Extra Restrictions before Pokémon phase:
- Pokémon in this class must know a slicing move (Link to slicing moves here)
- Speed must be within this Pokémon’s four highest stats
Extra Restrictions after Pokémon phase:
- Pokémon in this class must have at least one of their types match the type of an already existing slicing move (Flying, Water, Dark, Bug, Grass, Psychic, Fighting, Normal, Rock, Steel, Fire, or Poison)
- Pokémon in this class must have at least one slicing move that matches one of its types.
- Speed must be within this Pokémon’s three highest stats

Description/Justification: The name Swordmaster calls to Fire Emblem games as a class with mastery over blades. In those games Swordmaster are as fast as they are deadly, with strength and speed taking precedent over HP and magic. Here that translates into incentivizing the selection of Pokémon that already make use of their speed, and potentially making them faster to serve as an aggressive and offensive threat with a mandatory solid STAB move and guaranteed high Atk to back it up.

Pointy sticks from far away, a superior military strategy for centuries
:vespiquen::decidueye::dragapult:
Primary Stat: Attack (A)
Extra Restrictions before Pokémon phase:
- This Pokémon must know a non-contact physical move (Link to those moves here)
Extra Restrictions after Pokémon phase:
- This Pokémon can’t know any contact-based physical moves, unless you make Long Reach its only ability
Description/Justification: Before anyone gets up in arms about this, you could basically drop Mamoswine here unchanged and it would still be legal. There’s a wide range of non contact moves, use them to make unique sets, and if there’s something you feel is missing, nothing’s stopping you from making a custom non-contact move (just please make it balanced, I will be checking)

Primary Stat: Attack (A)
Extra Restrictions before Pokémon phase:
- This Pokémon must originally be Dark, Fighting, or Psychic type
OR
- This Pokémon must originally have a Specialist Ability (ie. an ability that unconditionally boosts the damage of a certain category of attack) as one of its abilities
Extra Restrictions after Pokémon phase:
- This Pokémon must want to run a Specialist Ability or a custom clone of a Specialist ability
- This Pokémon must have a signature attack whose damage gets boosted by their Specialist ability (For mons with signature attacks that fit the bill, simply retaining this signature attack will qualify. For mons without qualifying signature attacks, adding a custom move will be necessary)

Description/Justification: Adepts are considered masters of the combat arts, specializing in a specific style of fighting. Cultivated through aptitude, resolve, genius, and/or pure talent, members of this class have worked tirelessly to hone their craft. Such efforts culminate into their magnum opus: a signature technique known only to themselves.

Glad to see the subs rolling in, but I’m gonna drop a 24 hour warning so if you have anything in the drafts or just in your head please get it out and wrap it up. I’d like to open voting before Christmas.

:houndoom::chi-yu:
Primary Stat: Attack
Extra Restrictions before Pokémon phase:
- The user must be a Fire, Ghost, Dark, and/or Poison type and cannot be a Water, Psychic, Fairy, or Grass type.

Extra Restrictions in Pokémon phase:
- The user must be a Fire, Ghost, Dark, and/or Poison type and cannot be a Water, Psychic, Fairy, or Grass type.
- The user cannot be weak to Fire or Dark.
- This Pokemon must have an Attack stat of 115 or higher.

Description/Justification: Fiends, demons, and devils are common sights in mythology and RPGs.

Submissions for our second class slate are complete. There were a couple discrepancies, but I didn’t want to wait up to 24 hours to try to get them fixed, so I made my own rulings.

- Rasdanation ’s Adept must have attack as its highest stat only after editing the Pokémon
- chemicalmines ’ Fiend must have attack as its highest stat before editing the Pokémon

With that out of the way, voting can begin.
You can vote for up to six subs, and for each single SV, you must vote for two submissions from someone else. Also note that if you SV it should be marked as such. Each vote is worth one point, no matter who it’s from or in what position it’s placed in. In the end, the top three classes will win, and will serve as our main categories for the Pokémon slate.

As an example for voting, here are my votes:
Swordmaster (SV)
Sharpshooter (SV)
Barbarian
Predator
Adept
Tactician

Good luck everyone!
