Once upon a time, long, long ago, lived a king who ruled over a large and prosperous kingdom. He was a greedy, selfish king, and by exploiting his subjects he amassed an untold amount of wealth. Gold, jewels, art -- he had it all and more. But somebody who holds greed in their heart can never rest easy, no matter the size of their bounty. Wary of thieves, the king locked up all his treasures within a huge palace in the middle of a desolate desert, far away, frequented by nobody. There, he thought, his riches would be safe from sly hands.
Until one night, while the king slept, a great rainfall flooded the desert and washed away his palace and its treasure, and from the wet sand sprouted a forest of trees! A desert to a rainforest, overnight! Nobody could believe it; least of all, the king. The king himself set out to search for his lost treasure, but found not a single coin under the thick leaves of the rainforest. He never returned. Or so the legend goes -- its details change ever so slightly depending on the storyteller. In any case, this is the old legend that brings you to where you are today.
Your adventure begins at Ol' Pete's Boating and Fishing Supplies (tm), a modest boating store by the edge of this legendary rainforest. In front of the store, you see a cardboard prop-up of a smiling young sailor boy eagerly beckoning you towards the entrance. A sign taped to the window says: "Boating! Fishing! Kayaking! Anything you need, we got it!" Emboldened, you enter the store and ask the store owner if you can rent a kayak. He frowns and shakes his head.
"No siree! No can do! Lately we've had too many wannabe treasure-hunters trying to kayak through this rainforest with no skill or wit. They keep bumping into rocks and stuff and ruining our boats! We used to have a whole fleet of rental boats, but now we're down to only one! So we're not doing any boat rentals anymore. Sorry, come again."
You offer to raise the price, but he still refuses. You double it! But still no. You briefly consider just stealing a kayak, but upon seeing several CCTV cameras positioned in the store you dismiss the thought. Nevertheless, you can't let your adventure end here.
How will your Pokemon help you convince the shop owner to lend you a kayak?
