”Wow Empoleon finally got roost huh?”
Honestly besides Landorus-T and Heatran it isn’t that shocking to say Empoleon got more usage than the rest of them. You got to remember that Empoleon combines 2 of the best defensive types in the game, and also has Defog, Scald, Knock Off, and Stealth Rock. It was 1 move away from being one of the best OUmons of all time.
If Empoleon got Scald and Defog back, it honestly would be top 10 in usage now.
Agreed, Empoleon should get defog and Scald back.
empoleon usage is just new toy syndrome, its nowhere near as good as stuff like garchomp
Empoleon... good
Whoever made this is amazing

Here’s the current OU roster by generation, ordered by usage:

Gen 1: 3 (Dragonite, Clefable, Zapdos)

Gen 2: 1 (Blissey)

Gen 3: 1 (Torkoal)

Gen 4: 3 (Gliscor, Manaphy, Empoleon)

Gen 5: 1 (Landorus-Therian)

Gen 6: 1 (Greninja)

Gen 7: 3 (Ninetales-Alola, Ribombee, Toxapex)

Gen 8: 10 (Dragapult, Cinderace, Zamazenta, Sneasler, Rillaboom, Samurott-Hisui, Hatterene, Corviknight, Enamorus, Slowking-Galar)

Gen 9: 13 (Kingambit, Great Tusk, Iron Valiant, Gholdengo, Ursaluna-Bloodmoon, Ogerpon-Wellspring, Iron Moth, Glimmora, Roaring Moon, Walking Wake, Dondozo, Ting-Lu, Ogerpon-Cornerstone)

Total: 36

It’s good to keep in mind that most Gen 8 Pokemon and all Gen 9 Pokemon are available while only an assortment of mons from the other gens were chosen to be in these games, but the numbers are still crazy. Gen 8 + 9 is almost 2/3 of OU, and Gliscor is the only one of the old guard in the top 10

If we look at gen 7 OU list, we see that most mons from there are just dexited, especially Megas and UBs

Edit: also Volcarona ascended to Ubers

And i thought we wouldn't have so much power creep as Gen 5 without the megas or Z-moves... power creep has been powercrept with more power creep

Good riddance.
I'd be surprised if it didn't come back to OU within 1-2 months, it's still quite a good mon and the only thing that will really make it stay in UU (or RU) is a full on Tera ban. Same thing with Meow (still good) and maybe Moltres (still matches up well vs a lot of the relevant meta). Less sure about things like Amoon and Clod, but I wouldn't be surprised if they fluctuated between OU and UU based on meta trends.
