Gabite @ Eviolite
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 248 HP / 76 Atk / 104 Def / 80 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Scary Face

get behind a substitute and if your foe is faster but can't do much to gabite, go for scary face. gabite appreciates being faster than its foes since it becomes easier to ko them. alternatively, you can't go for swords dance to take advantage of their speed loss. pretty cool tbh

I don't understand how sub and face really work together, the way you're explaining it sounds like theres no need to go for scary face, and simply attacking is superior if they can't do anything to you, a faster mon typically won't come in (if you have a sub up and if you don't it'll just switch on the sub on the switch) unless it can take hits as well. If you're behind a sub so scary face might let other mons come in and check it better? I'd think sub SD would be a better option if you wanna go offensive, and isn't that just the analysis spread? Doesn't go well with an offensively oriented gabite.

Gabite @ Eviolite
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 176 HP / 252 Atk / 80 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Sunny Day
- Fire Blast

- Dragon Claw / Stealth Rock
- Earthquake / Stealth Rock

You go for Sunny Day on the switch-in, and then Fire Blast 2HKOs Defensive Gourgeist-XL and Defensive Tangela even after Giga Drain recovery! http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/pu-388787925 < shows that it does it

It's basically the Choice Specs Tangela/Gourg check without having to be choiced, being able to keep rocks, and being mainly physical.

A fun troll set, if someone tries to revenge kill you with a physical attacker you just click Endure and make them take 40% damage lol

Gabite @ Eviolite / Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Hone Claws
- Dragon Rush
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge

This set can be a fun sweeper, although it is usually inferior to other PU sweepers. Hone Claws is Gabite's only real boosting move, and it makes Gabite more powerful while also increasing Dragon Rush's and Stone Edge's accuracy. This set is best used on Webs teams as Gabite isn't that fast, so it needs Sticky Web support to outspeed many of the tier's faster Pokemon, like non-Scarf Mr. Mime. Overall, with some support to bring it in and set up easily and support to weaken physical walls like Tangela, this set may have some potential as a sweeper.

Gabite @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 216 Atk / 40 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Stealth Rock / Outrage
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast

Life Orb truly puts the offensive in offensive rocker on Gabite.

Eviolite is always going to be the best item for Gabite especially in the current more offensive meta however with the lack of good innovation that can be done for Gabite Life Orb is one of the few differences that can be done to make Gabite still an effective pokemon especially on more offensive teams.

Dragon+Ground stab has very few reliable switch-ins usually relying on the Defensive Grass-Types that make up backbones for a team in which many have pointed out one of the best options for luring in these pokemon with Fire Blast. This move allows Gabite to become quite the menace for those relying on that Gourgeist,Tangela or Quilladin to keep your Breaker or cleaner in check such as Stoutland,Floatzel or Leafeon.

While losing its bulk and ability to switch into certain pokemon Gabite still maintains a nice overall Volt Switch stop and check to many popular offensive pokemon such as Monferno,Altaria,Golem,Grumpig ect. Rough Skin while used to less effect with this set still provides nice chip damage to physical attackers as well as OHKO Stoutland in 1v1 situations with the optional Outrage.
40 SpA Life Orb Gabite Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Gourgeist-Super: 161-192 (43 - 51.3%) -- 61.3% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
40 SpA Life Orb Gabite Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Tangela: 174-205 (52 - 61.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
40 SpA Life Orb Gabite Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Quilladin: 133-159 (40.9 - 48.9%) -- 71.1% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

The set was originally posted by Tect in the effective/underrated sets thread back when Pilo meta ended and hasn't gained a whole lot of traction even back then.

Gabite @ Eviolite
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 248 HP / 180 Def / 80 Spe
Impish Nature
- Rest
- Sleep Talk / Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw

Nice little set to rack up residual damage over a match. Stealth Rock can be used on the set if you want the extra utility and not having to waste a teamslot, or Sleep Talk can be used to potentially do some extra damage. 80 Speed outspeeds Adamant Pawniard.

EVs to hit as hard and fast as possible.

aqua jet is a move

I'm aware, but it can get surprise KOs versus offense which is the whole point. Most physical float are cb and that's the most common aj user, so it'll usually lock itself into an ice type move. Then, get extra damage with eq and rage.
the calc literally says guaranteed ohko after life orb recoil
