Specially Defensive HDB

Pelipper @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- U-turn
- Roost
- Defog

I hope this isn't too similar to the damp rock set.
HDB Pelipper is the best check to Heatran, and can be used on semi-rain teams with just one rain abuser to make up for the loss of rain turns. You can try to fit in Knock Off but Scald is usually better, maybe over Defog.

Cycle 83

:ss/barraskewda:

Following the theme from last week, Barraskewda is the most common Swift Swim abuser thanks to its many desirable traits as a Swift Swim user, namely it’s incredible Speed and good Attack, backed with a potent Rain-boosted STAB, good coverage, and ability to pivot. These traits make it a staple on rain teams, where this offensive prowess is very much appreciated by these much more offensively-oriented team styles. Even though it has a rather small movepool, let’s see what you guys can do with the fish!

Reserving Sub + 3 Attacks

:ss/barraskewda:
Barraskewda @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Close Combat
- Psychic Fangs
- Substitute

Do you use Close Combat predicting Ferrothorn or Psychic Fangs predicting Toxapex? Ask that question no more by throwing up a substitute to ease the prediction!

Perhaps the most notable thing going on here is that Toxapex doesn’t always break your substitute with either Knock Off or Scald. The set still has all the speed it needs for everything except a speed tie, and leftovers means you can perhaps get an extra hit in after the rain turns have ended. Leftovers to set up more substitutes in the long run.

Protective Pads!

:ss/barraskewda:
Barraskewda @ Protective Pads
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Close Combat
- Flip Turn
- Psychic Fangs / Aqua Jet

While the loss of a boosting item absolutely sucks against the likes of Offensive Zapdos (it ain't an OHKO without Rocks chip), this variant still 2HKOs Defensive Zapdos with Rain-boosted Liquidation and Ferrothorn with CC, has the unique freedom to switch up its attacks, and doesn't take any recoil from Helmet/Rough Skin/Iron Barbs and doesn't get statused by Static/Flame Body so it's a lot more capable of throwing out Flip Turns pretty freely so long as hazard control (which virtually all good Rain teams have) is strong. Safe Flip Turns against Buzzwole and Helmet Pex really help Rain teams keep up the constant offensive pressure, and Spikes/Rocks support from the obligatory Ferrothorn and/or Seismitoad can help it muscle past threats it can no longer safely OHKO long-term.

Aqua Jet ain't bad, but this thing really needs the coverage from Psychic Fangs.

Reserving Mystic Water

:ss/Barraskewda:
Barraskewda @ :mystic water: Mystic Water
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Close Combat
- Crunch/Psychic Fangs
- Rain Dance

Bluff Band with Mystic Water damage boost, CC for standard coverage, Crunch or Psychic Fangs depends on what your team needs coverage for. Rain Dance as your own back up when you force a switch with it down.

This guy's movepool doesn't have much options and band is pretty much its only viable set but I'd say a Choice Scarf set is pretty funny:

Barraskewda @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Close Combat
- Flip Turn
- Psychic Fangs / Crunch

This can work outside of rain to surprise other scarfers. Something like Scarf Kartana won't switch out when they see you have a Barraskewda outside of rain.

Some calcs:

252+ Atk Barraskewda Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kartana: 220-260 (84.9 - 100.3%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ Atk Barraskewda Crunch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Dragapult: 234-276 (73.8 - 87%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Barraskewda Liquidation vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 282-332 (87.3 - 102.7%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

You don't really need much chip to be able to OHKO these things (please dont use this just use band instead there just was nothing else that i could think of)

HD Boots shark

Barraskewda @ HD Boots
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Close Combat
- Flip Turn
- Psychic Fangs

With HDB your beloved shark is able to spam Flip Turn for momentum as much as it can.
Liquidation + Close Combat + Psychic Fangs are here for coverage.

Barraskewda @ Life Orb :Life Orb:
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Close Combat
- Flip Turn
- Psychic Fangs / Crunch

Whilst still keeping a somewhat similar damage output, Life Orb Barraskewda also has the ability to switch between moves and coverage when needed. This set has a few downsides though, it decreases Barraskewda's longevity and makes it even more punishable by Rocky Helmet, Rough Skin, and Iron Barbs users.

- Close Combat
- Flip Turn
- Psychic Fangs / Assurance
The poor move pool makes me wonder what it can run besides choice band. Of course, protective pads and life orb that I can think of have been taken a step faster. Lmao, I finally thought of this set. This set requires you to accurately predict your opponent's actions, which will not reduce too much damage, and it is not as easily worn as life orb.
Some Calcs:
252+ Atk Expert Belt Barraskewda Psychic Fangs vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 127-151 (41.7 - 49.6%) -- 87.5% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Expert Belt Barraskewda Assurance vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 226-266 (57.5 - 67.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Expert Belt Barraskewda Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kartana: 264-312 (101.9 - 120.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Barraskewda @ Scope Lens
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 92 HP / 140 Atk / 96 SpD / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Close Combat / Psychic Fangs / Poison Jab
- Crunch / Psychic Fangs / Poison Jab
- Focus Energy

EVs:
Outspeeds and speed creeps max speed base 110s and by extension Adamant natured Weavile, as well as 168 EVs Tornadus Therian.
92 HP and 96 Sp.Def EVs allow it to take 1 Adamant Life Orb, Bisharp Sucker Punch from full or a Timid Specs Dragapult Shadow Ball
252+ Atk Life Orb Bisharp Sucker Punch vs. 92 HP / 0 Def Barraskewda: 242-285 (84.6 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Dragapult Shadow Ball vs. 92 HP / 96 SpD Barraskewda: 241-285 (84.2 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

With Focus Energy's crits, it's effectively a Choice Band that can switch moves, though at the cost of a moveslot. The biggest issue with this Pokemon in general is that you have to pick which defensive water-type you want to be walled by based on your coverage. Assuming Liquidation is mandatory, you have to cover Slowbro or Slowking, Toxapex and Tapu Fini, but you can only ever choose 2 to beat. Also with this EV spread, a lot of power is lost, so if the defensive calcs aren't valuable to you, max attack could be used instead.

:sm/barraskewda:
Barraskewda @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 180 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Liquidation
- Ice Fang
- Psychic Fangs

The set helps keep prediction to a minimum via substitute+3 attacks. Liquidation for stab, Ice Fangs for dragons such as dnite and chomp, and psychic fangs for pex.

Rain Dance

:ss/barraskewda:
Barraskewda @ Protective Pads
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Close Combat
- Flip Turn
- Rain Dance

If your team would really appreciate another rain setter in the late game, particularly one that's fast and isn't passive, then you should just use Thundurus-I or Tornadus-I because they have Prankster and Thunder / Hurricane you can use Rain Dance on Barraskewda. It's unexpected to say the least. Might pair well with Specs Pelipper since the lack of bulk means Pelipper will go down faster than usual. Protective Pads are chosen to ensure longevity.
