Everyone loves stall, right? What do you mean, "No?"

This Gastrodon set attempts to emulate a certain variant of Toxapex found on hard-core stall teams, AKA Blockpex, with Clear Smog over Haze. Blockstrodon loves to switch in late-game and lock down mons that want to set up on it, as well as choice-locked mons and physical attackers, while fishing for burns to shut them down. It often gets to select a kill when it comes in late game, and paired with guaranteed HP from leftovers :leftovers:, it doesn't need to remain in the back to guarantee its survival that long. With a bit of customization, this Gastrodon snacks on a number of OU and UU staples, including: Offensive/Defensive :Heatran:, DD :Dragonite:, :Garchomp:, :Magnezone:, :Melmetal:, and :Victini:, in addition to its other usual food.

Week 80

:ss/skarmory:
Mostly passed over throughout Sword and Shield due to it being outclassed by Corviknight, our OG steel birb friend is regaining popularity through its ability to set Spikes. Currently being re-explored because of its almost endless potential, this Pokemon has a lot of options that it can go with. It even has stuff like Swords Dance for the extremely daring!

Skarmory @ :leftovers: Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Brave Bird
- Defog
- Roost
- Toxic

I must have gone mad. Everything else has a SpDef set, why not Skarm. No hazards, just control in the form of defog. No space for Iron Defense on this set to make it mixed defenses, so Brave Bird is the attack of choice.

Was gonna reserve a speedy iron defense set as a modernized version of yolo skarm but I realized that technically falls under the standard set listed in the announcement so rip
Reserving sand tomb

Sand Tomb Skarmory

:ss/skarmory:

:skarmory:Skarmory @ Leftovers:leftovers:
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Careful Nature
- Body Press
- Sand Tomb
- Defog / Spikes / Toxic / Iron Defense
- Roost

Not much to say here. This set exists to trap unsuspecting mons into a perpetual state of torment and suffering. Body Press and Roost are here for obvious reasons, while the 3rd move depends on what you need for your team. If you don't have another hazard remover, run defog. If you want to cripple bulky waters or flyings, run toxic. If you want to beat physical steel types, run iron defense. Obviously, this set can't touch bulky poisons, but neither can any Skarmory set. Ideally, you should use this on teams that already have a hazard setter and/or hazard remover. That way, you won't be sacrificing much by using this set.

:Skarmory: Fast Taunt :Skarmory:

Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 240 HP / 96 Def / 172 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Body Press
- Taunt
- Spikes
- Roost

With just a bit of speed investment Skarmory can out speed minimum-speed Landorus-T and hit it with Taunt, which can prevent it from defogging your spikes or setting up rocks of its own. Taunt is also really good into all manner of more defensive mons like Clefable, preventing them from using status moves or healing and helping you switch in your other Pokémon more easily. The speed can also come in super handy in other situations. Notably, you now outspeed adamant Crawdaunt and can deal over 3/4 with body press, making defensive teams a lot better against a Pokémon that is otherwise a huge problem. Spikes, Roost, and Body Press are all standard and what make Skarm good in OU. 96 EVs + Bold gives a jump point in defence and the rest into HP.

Eject Button Skarmory

Skarmory @ Eject Button :Eject Button:
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Body Press
- Roost
- Spikes
- Whirlwind / Iron Defense

Somewhat classic Skarmory with a bit of a twist. Setting up spikes and then using Eject Button to get a pseudo uturn in once, pivoting in a teammate into an advantageous position. This also is nice as after using it up, it can act as a knock absorber in a pinch. Standard physdef EV spread while fourth moveslot is up to personal discretion and what fits best for your team structure.

Skarmory @ Leftovers :Leftovers:
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Body Press
- Roost
- Protect
- Toxic

Protect + Toxic Skarmory capitalizes on Leftovers recovery and stalling out opponents with Toxic chip damage. This set also allows Skarmory to scout choice-locked Pokemon and special attackers, granting you a way to act accordingly and gain an advantage on your opponent. Body Press allows Skarmory to utilize it's exceptional physical defense and hit Steel-types that resist Drill Peck or Brave Bird. Roost is quite self-explanatory and provides a reliable method of recovery.

Skarmory @ Choice Band
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Brave Bird
- Body Press
- Rock Slide / Spikes / Roost / Drill Peck / Toxic

Skarmory is expected to be passive and weak when it comes out. Usually supporting the team with status moves like Toxic, Spikes, Stealth Rock, Taunt, etc. This set forgoes that in favor of pure damage. With its base 80 attack and a Choice Band, its attack stat hits a clean stat of 426. The moves are pretty self explanatory, being the strongest, reliable variants of the STAB moves as well as Body Press(which is actually boosted by Choice Band) and Rock Slide to round out the coverage but there are a lot of filler options that could go in the 4th slot.

The Weakest Link

:Skarmory: @ :Shed Shell:/:Heavy Duty Boots:
Ability: Weak Armor
EVs: 224 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def / 24 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Swords Dance/Taunt
- Iron Head

Switch it in on a U-Turn for easy set-up. I've thought a lot about which item this thing should have and it is difficult to decide. You can even go life-orb if you'd like an extra pinch of power. This leaves it in an insanely frail state, and you would likely not have time to pull off a swords dance in this case. Protective pads could work just as well as the items listed up top.

Alternative spread: 160 HP/ 252 Atk / 8 Def / 88 Spe to outspeed things like Weavile.

I reviewed my submission and found that it was extremely similar to that of Hatternity’s, who posted theirs before I posted mine. I deleted my submission. Here’s a new one.

Curse Skarmory

:Skarmory:

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Curse
- Roost
- Brave Bird
- Body Press

It functions the same as Iron Defense sets but trades less power on Body Press for more power on Brave Bird, thereby improving the matchup against bulky Fighting resists as well as Dragapult and Blacephalon, which get chunked hard on the switch in.
