QuoteCS will be co-hosting this with me.

What is this?

Building teams is always enjoyable especially if they're around creative Pokémon which are fun and what makes teambuilding better is when you do it with other people because they can up with some really cool ideas. Hopefully, new players will come hang out with us to see how we teambuild, what we usually prepare for when making a team, etc. Another thing I want to do with this project is show players that usually use the same ~10 Pokemon that it isn't hard to get out of your zone of comfort when teambuilding and that there's nothing wrong with building around some underrated threats!

How will this work?

I want to make this as simple as possible. Obviously when building a team, we need an idea. I want you guys to submit some cool Pokemon (It can be one Pokemon. It can also be two Pokemon if they work well together, but if you do submit two Pokemon please try to not submit something that may limit our options when we will teambuild) also write a paragraph that tells us why the submitted mon is worth building around. After some days, we will have a small vote to decide on what we want to build around and then I will try to find a time where we could meet up and build this!

If you submit a set with the Pokemon and we vote for the Pokemon, it doesn't mean we will build around that exact set. If you do add a set it is only to give ideas (ex: some innovation aka a set that not a lot know about that can be good in this metagame).

Where will this happen?

I want to do this on #littlecup channel on IRC. Why? Why not. It will be easier for everybody to discuss about the team on IRC than in a room with over 30 people that will probably not care about this :(

How often will those workshops happen?

Every month.

Alright you can now post, remember to you can choose one to two Pokémon. If you submit two, please make sure they work decently well together and don't limit our options too much when building around them. You can also submit a playstyle along with the Pokemon.

Building around Honedge (Maybe Weakness Policy + Automize) could be challenging, yet fruitful? If not, Drifloon (WP + Endure + Unburnden, mixed, Acro/Endure/Shadow Ball/Sucker Punch?). Give me bad ghost types and make legends of them, dang it.

I'll kick this off with a core that won't get picked: Defensive Snover + Special Carvanha

As many of you may know, I hyped Defensive Snover a lot back in Missy era due to it's unique dual STABs and handy resists. However, a little while back I tried to make an updated Hail team with Melonz to stomp the ladder with. Of course, Defensive Snover was the setter, but the main sweeper was Special Carvanha, sporting Blizzard to smack opposing Grass-types. The teambuilding session slowly collapsed and we scrapped the idea... until now...

Movesets:
Snover @ Eviolite
Ability: Snow Warning
Level: 5
EVs: 196 HP / 196 Def / 116 SpD
Bold Nature
- Blizzard
- Hidden Power [Fighting] / Grass Whistle
- Giga Drain
- Ice Shard

Carvanha @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
Level: 5
EVs: 36 Def / 236 SpA / 236 Spe
Modest Nature
- Substitute
- Hydro Pump
- Blizzard
- Dark Pulse

Goddess Briyella

Banned deucer.

This core consists of Bulk Up Chespin and Dragon Dance Larvitar, two Pokemon with exploitable weaknesses but they have each other's backs very well. From the resistance department, Chespin easily takes on the Water- and Ground-types that threaten Larvitar, and can hold its own against Fighting-types as well (bar Croagunk). Larvitar, on the other hand, takes advantage of the Flying- and Fire-types that Chespin has problems with, notably Fletchling but especially Ponyta, which can overwhelm Chespin even if it has Bulk Up boosts. Both Pokemon have a means of setting up on the enemy after getting a good matchup, which isn't difficult because they cover each other well.

Chespin at +1 OHKOes Archen and Fletchling with Rock Slide after Stealth Rock and does not die to itemless Acrobatics beforehand. Chespin also beats Pawniard one-on-one if it switches in on Bulk Up (unless it gets a lot of hax), and then proceeds to pummel through the rest of the opposing team with bolstered physical stats. Later in a match, if the game can be won by +1 Larvitar alone, it is fine to allow Chespin to go down versus Ponyta or Fletchling (but use Rock Slide anyway so Fletchling can't get a free Swords Dance). Larvitar gets free setup against both Pokemon and actually welcomes Will-O-Wisp from Ponyta because of Guts. Larvitar at +1 outspeeds the entire unboosted tier and cleans serious house with Guts-boosted +1 STAB Earthquake. The only thing this core usually has trouble with if played correctly is special Croagunk.

Chespin @ Eviolite
Ability: Bulletproof
Level: 5
EVs: 228 HP / 28 Atk / 236 SpD
Impish Nature
- Bulk Up
- Synthesis
- Seed Bomb
- Rock Slide

Larvitar @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
Level: 5
EVs: 244 Atk / 36 Def / 36 SpD / 188 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Superpower

Hyping Boomburst Taillow for this:
Taillow @ Life Orb
Ability: Scrappy
Level: 5
EVs: 40 Def / 200 SpA / 240 Spe
Naive Nature
IVs: 1 HP / 30 Def / 30 SpA / 30 SpD / 30 Spe
- Roost
- Boomburst
- Brave Bird
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

Boomburst Taillow can lure in Taillow's usual checks and counters and usually OHKO or 2HKO them, which is very helpful for BirdSpam teams or teams in general that appreciate having those Pokemon weakened. Taillow also has a very nice speed tier in hitting 19 speed, which allows it to outspeed most of the Little Cup metagame.

Feel free to change the set, I know it's probably sub-optimal in some way, shape, or form (also I'm not sure about the HP IV, I don't really understand how Hidden Power works, but I heard that this was valid somewhere).

AWIGHT

This is a core i made back in Missy Era and it worked so well for me, This is the offensive version. (There's a defensive version that i aint sharin yet but you can guess it's SDef Dour)

Azazel (Houndour) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
Level: 5
EVs: 196 Atk / 36 SpA / 236 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Fire Blast
- Pursuit
- Sucker Punch
- Destiny Bond

Fussy (Snubbull) (M) @ Berry Juice
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 5
EVs: 36 HP / 116 Atk / 196 Def / 116 SpD / 36 Spe
Careful Nature
- Play Rough
- Earthquake
- Thief
- Heal Bell / Thunder Wave

Simple set up. They both lure checks for the other. Snub lures Steels and Dour lures physical attackers. Dour also doesnt care about Wow which also gives it the Flash Fire Boost. HOwever this core does have issues with obvious hazard control and Croagunk. Imo just use EQ Gunk to cover the Gunk weakness and it also beats all other poison types. (unless you're running HP PSychic Gunk lolol)

edit: i suck at evs

Drilbur @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Mold Breaker
EVs: 36 HP / 212 Atk / 236 Spe
Jolly / Adamant nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Poison Jab
- Rapid Spin

I'd really love to see someone else's take on a Scarf Drilbur team, it's an absolutely ferocious win condition once birds are gone.

Vullaby @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Overcoat
Level: 5
EVs: 236 Atk / 76 SpA / 196 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Heat Wave

Scarf Vullaby is rly cool and underrated. Spreads Knock Offs around. Brave bird is really strong. For comparison, it OHKOs Bulky Foo 75% of the time, whereas Fletchling's Acro has a 6.3% chance to do so. Cleans well.

Will edit in a better description later

Remoraid needs more love, it'll be fun to build a team around a Pokémon with Water Spout, decent Speed, Attack, and Special Attack, and a wide offensive moveset that consists of plenty of cool options like Fire Blast, Seed Bomb, and Bullet Seed.

Teddiursa @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Quick Feet
Level: 5
EVs: 196 Atk / 116 Def / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Facade

- Crunch
- Swords Dance

Alright i'll start posting on this subforum to learn this meta and i'll start from here.
I wanted to suggest a core based on rhyhorn, which counters one big threat of the meta: talonflame, just like its big brother does with every flying type. I think talonflame is a nice teammate to check fighting types and also lures in chinchou which gives problems to both and u-turn out to something that kills it.

Hi! Welcome to LC, 2 things though, you don't really post except in the intro thread for questions to learn the meta, its called lurking. Also rhyhorn is a really cool mon, but its high attack and def combined with its stabs, megahorn and rockpolish are its main traits, countering fletching is not its only positive trait.

Yes i know where to post if i have questions, i'm just saying i want to become active here to learn more of this meta since i played LC but i suck a lot, anyway thanks n__n. Talking of rhyhorn, i said what's the reason of my pick: a counter for a prominent threat, fletchling, that is not as mainstream as chinchou. I know it has some other qualities.
