OU DPP OU Teambuilding Competition

When you think of boosting Empoleon, what is the first set that comes to mind? That's right, Iron Defense stall. You can bring this team to friendly matches to stall your opponent out with the standard Toxic, Iron Defense, Protect, Surf Empoleon set. Use Roserade to set T-spikes, and then you are off to the races! Gliscor and Rotom are here to help cover Empoleon's weaknesses to fighting and ground. Magnezone is here to remove the pesky steel types which are otherwise immune to toxic stall. Suicune is the late game sweeper with its CM stacking.

well, here we go again. honestly i would probably not have used a3a emp last time if I'd known we be using setup emp here.

Sash loom lead not only bluffs scarf which often forces opponents to play around a spore and get out into a big breaker opening while being very disruptive and still being offensively threatening. Zong gives me rocks and a ton of useful resistances and defensive utility, the spread gets Modest specs latias under 50% with draco while 2hitting min bulk timid specs with gyro after rocks, the defense is leftover, but is helpful into things like metagross. Ape tends to draw in a fair number of things that want to check emp and either forces damage with GK or u-turns into tar for a trap. tar eliminates stuff like latias while superpower gives a plan for clef without relying on getting ape out or landing a zong explosion. twave has just been a last move i've been liking a lot on tar, since its just a safe move in neutral situations that if it lands tar almost certainly gets another attack off anyway. latias provides speed control and hwish is always nice support for ape in particular. i prefer a3a emp to sub pataya due to the better coverage and not needing to rely on sub to get the berry since sometimes you can't count on getting agility and start subbing reliably, it also opens the item slot up to things like mystic water or in this case shuca for safety. emp has enough speed to outrun ada scarfgon, while the shuca no only insulates against jolly, it also lets emp brawl with meta or zong or similar mons who aren't in ko range right away. Only regret here is that there was no reasonable way to get Torterra on here to have all 3 starters.

I’m showcasing (not entering) 4 different boosting Empoleon teams which may or may not have been withheld so they can be used in SPL. (Shifts eyes from side to side conspiratorially). The teambuilding comp for boosting Empoleon was started before the first DPP SPL game, yet it had a strangely low participation rate. Fast forward to today, and there have been 4 boosting empoleon seen in SPL, with the agility set maintaining a 100% win rate. Coincidence? I think not.

The first 3 (Laurel Malekith and Void) are agility emp teams, and the last one by Skyrio is a SD emp team.

typical ho with pursuit scizor allowing to trap scarf latias and scarf rotom(it's spread allows it to take 2 thunderbolts from scarf rotom without SR), giving more freedom to our water sweeper (gyara) and wallbreaker (ferraligatr), celebi complete them well and nasty plot helps a lot with the stall mu, it's lum berry cause u won't switch much with it and u can beat body slam jirachi this way, thanks to cubicskunk for giving me the celebi set.
With rock on their side most of the time, gyara is not that much of a threat so played dd tyranitar over dnite on last slot, with jirachi and others checks often weakened.

Through pure chance I also decided on gatr so here's my likely worse version:

https://pokepast.es/57da0bb8dd743b17

Ddwave gyara to lure latias because gatr sure as shit needs mystic water. The ttar set tries to blow up breloom and scares the shit out of hippo when you click it on the swap and miss. Scarf meta anchors vs offense and saves ur ass ironically vs gyara. Passho tran tries to blow up on the waters, primarily cune and mie. I put like maybe 30 minutes tops into this so go vote for dridri

here's a water spam team inspired by the team BKC brought the past spl.
it has lead suicune for early breaking, mixed ttar for trapping lati and/or rotom, empoleon and gyarados as the sweepers, meta as the rocker and scarf lati as the speed control/utility.
meta has custap because aside from lati, the team is pretty slow for offense. taunt gyara helps vs stall and chople protects empoleon from being revenge killed by mach punch.

I knew that Feraligatr or the OUs would be obv and yeah there's rain. But I wanted to look for something completely wild. So I went for 4 Attacks Sharpedo. Is the team good? It's not terrible. It's won some games on the ladder. It's p much a kinda Para Based Balance team where Gyara comes in early, starts spreading para and you dance around with switching picking things off when you get opportunities. Sharpedo gets some good opportunities to break some holes with coverage, especially when mons are locked in to pursuit as it sits at a good speed tier for the -1 from Icy Wind.

I feel like the team can be improved a little. Probably through a more defensive Lati set as it really is an important piece.
Went for a bulkier Gyara spread. You really could transfer rocks on to Donphan and run another scarfer there.

It's pretty fun anyways. :)

hey i want to present you my "waterspam" greatly inspired by Dridri's team he used in spl against malekith here

the goal of this team is to form an overwhelming core for latias and water type checks, strategically utilizing the synergy between Swampert, Suicune, and Infernape to pressure and dismantle common threats

my infernape is named "hellpowna" in honor of my friend Coco, I think this name suits it well

Importable --> https://pokepast.es/2521c1ff1aa08307

pert here makes an electric resist and a wallbreaker he has just fine lead matchups, it gets taunted for no benefit, it is rly good against gross/rachi/hippo/zapdos and tends to force latias in which is good for the team, as it offers me stealth rock but also important damage on a key target
Sleep talk is a weird fit on CB pert but I feel like this is good because you can still send it on heatran, scarf rotom, ttar and roll a random sleep talk that has a good chance to kill its much better than a sleeping useless pert and i dont wanna use lum gar
suicune is an awesome partner for cb pert as not only they double down on latias, suicune also covers dd gyara that can very easily abuse swampert the synergy is good offensively and defensively
and the same goes for infernape : hates latias, abused by gyara here comes suicune beats latias checks gyara
this is a rare occasion where i find cb pert worth using, but i like it here

my waters doubleing down on cune, gyara, latias I realized infernape was an incredible fit
after those being taken down/weakened he becomes a real threat
this is an unconventional way to make infernape work without pursuit
you can use swampert/suicune, to force in latias which is usually the water type check mon to pressure it and overhwlem it so it can not check waters AND infernape
that way, infernape can be a threat on its own and vice versa they just work together
its rly important to have uturn on infernape because this forms a uturn core with jirachi and you also wanna do damage to latias and starmie
ape uturn on latias > bring in jirachi > can uturn again > potentially bringing back ape etc thats good pressure
ape is adamant because i wanna pressure zapdos, hippowdon, gliscor and i feel like its not "needed" to outspeed maxspeed rachi mixed gon the team is jsut fine agaisnt it and the payoff for adamant seems much better
mach punch is for luc / dd tar as the team can struggle otherwise
ape brings speed control and maintains offensive pressure against skarm / rachi / ttar and on top of it, is a great celebi abuser litteraly everything the team needs
lefties is my item of choice as you wanna bring it in and out, so its gonna suck those leftovers and flare blitz recoil this team wants a bit of longetivty on ape

jirachi here is spedef because is my pivot to latias/gengar/starmie and is also my single steel so i want it to be able to tank more than one hit
it basically pivots against everything the team struggles against
this jirachi is also good bcs it keeps rocks against starmie and pressure it which is rly important in tarless teams
honestly this set, sr uturn support is under rated on bulky offense and i like it a lot
thunder keeps skarm/starmie in check and para spreading also helps justifying cb pert
30 speed ivs for slow uturn against other rachis

gengar is here for speed control and typing just to keep the flow of the team while pivoting, proceeds to burn / taunt anything thats passive and revenge kill anything thats frail
its just perfect for those kind of teams fuck the gengar hater club

latias just fits the rest of the team very well
it brings water resist, elec resist, fight resist, trick against defensive teams and healing wish is absolutely awesome here it can bring back either swampert, suicune or infernape which all are great late game candidate
everything that can setup is under control thanks to this and the one that are dangerous (lucario, agility meta, dd tar) are alrdy covered by the rest team so its just like latias was made for this slot

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen4ou-2071023073
here is a replay if you wanna see the team in action
worst matchup is probably tspikes gg if they bring it

alright thats all for me
its a great and fun topic, hope to see some interesting teams
