CAP 5 CAP 5 - Part 3 (Secondary Typing Poll 1)

So in the end, we're making some kind of Glass Cannon then, judging on the averages of Rock. The question that come to mind is how low is low in terms of base stat.

I like rock types. It beats down on flying types :)
I think maybe a rock/electric would be original, i'd like to give it levitate to cancel out its 4x ground weakness.

1. ELECTRIC
2. NORMAL

I want to see more types with normal as a secondary typing. It gives 1 weakness, 1 immunity and stabbed return :) I think arcanine would benefit greatly from secondary type normal

I figured one of the things we could do is give it a mediocre SpA, but also a SpA version of Pure Power.

For Example: 125 Atk 95 BP is approximately equal in damage to 69 Atk 70 BP with Pure Power, i.e. Power Gem on this Pokemon would hit neutral pokemon as hard as Psychic on Azelf

The move pool could be a bunch of things at 75 BP and under. That would break the mold, too, since we would be using Aroura Beam, Bubble Beam, Signal Beam instead of Ice Beam, Surf, Bug Buzz.

So I just screwed around with numbers for like an hour and a half and came up with this:

Code:
[B][B][SIZE=+1][B](19 * 600) / (80 + 105 + 65 + 60 + 75 + 130 + 70 + 110 + 180 + 60 + 60 + 50 + 75 + 125 + 100 + 70 + 80 + 45 + 60 + 52 + 168 + 47 + 138 + 30 + 55 + 55 + 85 + 65 + 85 + 35 + 86 + 81 + 97 + 81 + 107 + 43 + 80 + 110 + 130 + 55 + 65 + 45 + 60 + 115 + 105 + 65 + 70 + 80 + 70 + 55 + 65 + 95 + 85 + 70 + 50 + 50 + 120 + 80 + 80 + 30 + 70 + 60 + 125 + 115 + 70 + 55 + 60 + 55 + 145 + 75 + 150 + 40 + 97 + 165 + 60 + 65 + 50 + 58 + 80 + 100 + 200 + 50 + 100 + 50 + 100 + 90 + 130 + 45 + 65 + 55 + 115 + 140 + 130 + 55 + 55 + 40 + 70 + 95 + 85 + 55 + 65 + 70 + 70 + 100 + 115 + 30 + 65 + 30 + 100 + 134 + 110 + 95 + 100 + 61) = 1.22514777[/B][/SIZE][/B][/B]

[B][B][SIZE=+1][B](1.22514777 * (80 + 70 + 75 + 60 + 55 + 86 + 80 + 60 + 70 + 50 + 70 + 60 + 97 + 80 + 100 + 115 + 70 + 70 + 100)) / 19 = 93.3691564[/B][/SIZE][/B][/B]

[B][B][SIZE=+1][B](1.22514777 * (105 + 110 + 125 + 52 + 55 + 81 + 110 + 115 + 55 + 50 + 60 + 55 + 165 + 100 + 90 + 140 + 95 + 100 + 134)) / 19 = 115.873186[/B][/SIZE][/B][/B]

[B][B][SIZE=+1][B](1.22514777 * (65 + 180 + 100 + 168 + 85 + 97 + 130 + 105 + 65 + 120 + 125 + 145 + 60 + 200 + 130 + 130 + 85 + 115 + 110)) / 19 = 142.826437[/B][/SIZE][/B][/B]

[B][B][SIZE=+1][B](1.22514777 * (60 + 60 + 70 + 47 + 65 + 81 + 55 + 65 + 95 + 80 + 115 + 75 + 65 + 50 + 45 + 55 + 55 + 30 + 95)) / 19 = 81.440086[/B][/SIZE][/B][/B]

[B][B][SIZE=+1][B](1.22514777 * (75 + 60 + 80 + 138 + 85 + 107 + 65 + 70 + 85 + 80 + 70 + 150 + 50 + 100 + 65 + 55 + 65 + 65 + 100)) / 19 = 100.913487[/B][/SIZE][/B][/B]

[B][B][SIZE=+1][B](1.22514777 * (130 + 50 + 45 + 30 + 35 + 43 + 45 + 80 + 70 + 30 + 55 + 40 + 58 + 50 + 55 + 40 + 70 + 30 + 61)) / 19 = 65.5776464[/B][/SIZE][/B][/B]
What that means is that, not including Shuckle, whose stats are just whack, the completely average Rock guy, assuming a BST of 600, is:

93 / 116 / 143 / 81 / 101 / 66

Now, I tried a whole bunch of crap that didn't work to find the opposite of that; that is, the same numbers, just "inverted," so to speak, to be just as bad as they were good.

It turns out that as good an approximation as any is to just take the difference between that number and 100 and subtract it twice. Think about it like reflecting x = 93 over x = 100.

The crazy thing is that when you do that with each number, the result still comes out to have a BST of 600, because apparently 2(7) - 2(16) - 2(43) + 2(19) - 2(1) + 2(34) = 0.

In any case, that leaves us with something like:

107 / 84 / 57 / 119 / 99 / 134

I plan to use that as a jumping-off point when I make my stat spead.

Looks good to me. Thanks. The thing I want for this is kinda like a Gardevoir, Mismagiusesque-Pokemon. Sort of like a speedy tank.

I like how that sounds! These moves are way to underused anyway, but for good reason, admittedly.

Or instead of a special attacking Pure Power we can give it a pretty high special attack and use it's ability for something else? I'm envisioning along the likes of 125-135 b/c after all it is a rock type with possibly only 1 stab and a bad move at that.

So basically a special version of Rampardos? >__>
haha, that's what I was thinking! How is a Rock glass cannon breaking the mold?

I think that once we settle into the Art, and in general a whole direction for this Pokémon, we'll stop thinking about the menial things like this. I mean, it'll end up what it's going to end up. I just think it's important that it's Mono-Rock, and besides, I think a fast special sweeper is breaking the mold enough, and the defenses don't matter so much so long as the Defense is low to lowish.

By the way I'm really liking the idea of Ancient Power / something / something / something Choice Specs STAB Technician :)

This is a list of pokemon stat tendencies by type. The list of pokemon was taken from the Smogon analysis page (including Pikachu, Porygon2, etc., excluding Arceus). Base stat totals were normalized to a total of 1200 and then averaged. When reading this table, remember that 200 represents an average stat.

Wow this is really helpful, thanks chronostrike.

Soooo the types that stereotypically have higher attack, lower special attack and lower speed are:

Bug, Fighting, Ground and Steel

They all have lower than average Sp.A and Speed, and higher than average Attack.

Dark, Dragon and Ghost also fit the desired stat distribution by having lower than average speed, higher than average Attack and Sp. A, but lower Sp. A than Attack.

This discussion has veered way off topic. I realize everyone is bored waiting for the next poll, but that's not a justification to poll jump into stat spreads, movepool, or anything else.

I think it's fine to present information about the stereotype of the pokemon we are making. Since the concept is "Break the Mold", we need to constantly evaluate "the mold". "The mold" will shift as we flesh out the various aspects of the pokemon. But, don't let on-topic support information cause the discussion to get off-track.

For example, chronostrike's post on stat tendencies for all types is perfectly on topic (and very helpful BTW) for a typing discussion about "breaking the mold". However, to use that information as a springboard into a premature stat spread discussion for this pokemon -- that is off-topic. The same goes for the specific ability and specific bias posts that have been popping up recently.

This poll is typing. The next poll will STILL be typing. If the central theme of your post is not focused on the typing of this pokemon -- then please do not make the post. It is off-topic. Just save your thoughts for later, when the appropriate thread comes along.

I don't like many of the other options. They seem to take away more than they bring. Of all the alternatives, Grass looks like the best secondary option, giving it neutrality to allot of attacks while still giving it a secondary STAB with good synergy to Rock.
People it is a sp. sweeper we are building and doesn't need to have "perefekt defensive 2nd type" for it to still work. But still the second typing should not shine better than Rock as a attacking STAB so Fighting is out of the options for me!

1. Grass, best secondary type that gives it enought resisance but still gives it a good type coverage to Rock without being the supperior attacking type.

2. Electric (only because it sounds as a cool typing and its NOT dragon or fighting)

Just to remind people that Sandstormed Weather ball is the strongest (by far) special attacking Rock move in the game. But that for another poll...

I vote:
1. fighting
2. bug

Neither have double weaknesses, and would make odd special sweepers. bug seems to be a superior typing, but fighting/rock would be cooler and hasn't been done yet.

People should really learn to read atleast the last 10 posts before posting.

Votes are not accepted anymore, its finished.

Dark, Dragon and Ghost also fit the desired stat distribution by having lower than average speed, higher than average Attack and Sp. A, but lower Sp. A than Attack.
Wouldn't the reversal of their stereotype conflict with Rock's reversal thus negating the effect on each other effects?

A little experiment involving those stat averages. Don't have to pay any attention to it.
Code:
Rock: [COLOR=black][SIZE=2]180 [B]220[/B] [B]298[/B] 157 [B]220[/B] 125
Dragon: [/SIZE][/COLOR][COLOR=black][SIZE=2]186 [B]218[/B] 188 216 [B]202[/B] 190

Rock/Dragon: 183 [B]219[/B] [B]243[/B] 186 [B]211[/B] 157

Rock types are notorious for having 4x weaknesses to ground and fighting, I'd really like to see something that resists or is immune to one or both of those.

1) Ghost
2) Flying

fighting should be out of the question.... are there any Special fighting moves anyway?

well I just realized what would it look like I mean its a rock how will it go fast and Im really want to see how this will turn out

I completly lost my hopes for this poject...

Half of the people who are voting didn't even read this thing up as shown by the guys who are still voting even though the poll is closed and also by the guy who deosn't even know theres Special based Fighting moves -.-

Aura Sphere, Vacuum Wave, Focus Blast and Hidden Power Fight. Don't know if I missed any.

Aura Sphere, Vacumn Wave, Focus Blast, HP Fighting, stop me anytime.

Also, I urge you to look at Aerodactyl.

1:Dragon
2:Steel
I suggested steel because since we're breaking the mold it would be kinda cool to have a fastrock/steel. So all the people who wanted fasted steel might get it. And MIGHT counter some tough foes.
