Gligar @ Eviolite Trait: Sand Veil
EVs: 156 HP / 156 Def / 76 SpD / 76 Spe
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Substitute
- Roost
- Toxic

Earthquake is really all this set needs, as it can survive a Flash Cannon. Magnemite probably won't use Magnet Rise until there is a Pokemon out that can use a Ground-type attack, and when Gligar is out, it would be too late. If it does use Magnet Rise, Gligar can use Substitute and Roost to stall its effect out.

Magnemite @ Air Balloon
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 236 SAtk / 240 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Magnet Rise
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Flash Cannon

come in on whatever and kill Gligar. It literally can't touch you. If you want to use Substitute instead of Magnet Rise it's not a bad idea. Just watch out for Bronzor that carry Hidden Power Ice or Psychic.

Riolu @ Eviolite
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 196 Spd / 196 SDef / 116 HP
Careful Nature (+SDef -SAtk)
-Bulk Up
-Drain Punch
-Crunch
-Ice Punch

Come in on preferably magnet rise or flash cannon, maybe HP ice. Bulk Up then outspeed and KO with drain punch to recover and HP lost. EVs for optimal bulk and decent enough speed(to beat slower threats) Bulk Up is meant to cover the physical side of the defensive spectrum since 15 or so defense isn't ideal. Hardly a wall but decent bulk. Drain Punch is STAB and recovery, bulky up was explained before as well as to add some attack, crunch for coverage with ghosts and ice punch to that pesky gligar, preferable done on a switch though.

Hey when we're posting sets, can we please try and make sure the sets we are listing are both counters to the previous set, and not Pokemon that were just recently used?

Charmander, Magnemite was literally used two Pokemon ago. Trakyan, the Riolu you listed does not actually counter Magnemite as it has difficulty switching in.

Keeping that in mind, I'll still leave a counter to Trakyan's Riolu.

Slowpoke (F) @ Eviolite
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 116 HP / 236 Def / 36 SAtk / 116 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Slack Off
- Thunder Wave
- Psychic
- Scald

Physically defensive Slowpoke is never 2HKOed by a +1 Crunch by the specified Riolu. Instead, it retaliates with Psychic, a guaranteed 2HKO on specially defensive Riolu.

But for future suggestions, can we please check recent posts to make sure these Pokemon weren't just recently used? If we're just listing the same Pokemon over and over, we kind of defeat the purpose of this activity. Likewise, we need to make sure the sets we are suggesting have utility outside of countering that Pokemon, and are indeed competitive.

Useful yet creative...

Meet:

Treecko (M) @ Eviolite
Trait: Overgrow
EVs: 36 HP / 240 SAtk / 200 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Giga Drain
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Quick Attack

Treecko is a useful check to many Water-types including Slowpoke, Chinchou and Staryu. Even eviolite sets can be OHKOed by Leaf Storm. With Eviolite, Treecko is bulky enough to survive one Ice Beam or one HP Fire from a Scarfed Chinchou and retaliate with an Overgrow boosted Giga Drain to recover and beat it. Modest is preferred to ensure those OHKO's as Treecko WILL be outpaced by Staryu and Chinchou so more power is welcome. The little gecko pairs well with a bulky Water-type of your own to stop Houndours, Ponytas and others.

(All of this has been checked with a Damage Calculator).

AWOOOOOOOOOOO

Houndour (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 36 Atk / 196 SpA / 40 SpD / 236 Spe
IVs: 1 HP / 31 Atk / 31 Def / 30 SpA / 30 SpD /31 Spe
Hasty Nature (+Spe, -Def)
- Hidden Power Ground / Substitute
- Fire Blast
- Sucker Punch
- Dark Pulse

TREECKO'S GOT NOTHIN ON ME. This guys switches in and starts wreaking havoc. Just throw out a Fire Blast and watch the opponent's health start disappearing. The trick here is everyone thinks you're running Eviolite... until it's too late. Mienfoo thinks it can switch in? Bah! We outspeed and at least 2HKO all but Jolly Mienfoo! Tirtouga thinks it can set up? Hit it with a Hidden Power Ground to bring it down to Sturdy as it tries to set up! This set causes lots of switches and thus appreciates hazard support; Ferroseed is a good candidate to lure Fire-type moves, Bronzor does the same thing. Likewise, Houndour hates hazards and so a spinner can work well. Ferroseed / Staryu / Houndour create a nifty offensive core with hazards that has great synergy type-wise.

rawr bitch

Deino (M) @ Eviolite
Trait: Hustle
EVs: 100 HP / 236 Atk / 36 Def / 116 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Thunder Wave
- Crunch
- Taunt / Outrage
- Dragon Tail

cherubi is down so i can't be bothered to do calcs but i highly doubt this is 2hkoed. thunder wave can fuck up an incoming pokemon, while taunt helps it against stuff like bronzor. crunch and dragon tail are good enough offensive moves when you force switches like this little guy

hustle is really lame though

Bronzor @ Eviolite

Trait: Levitate
EVs: 220 HP / 8 Atk / 152 Def / 4 SAtk / 68 SDef / 12 Spd
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Psychic
- Stealth Rock

Reists all of those moves; Head Smash does shit, Bronzor is immune to Earthquake thanks to Levitate, Iron Head is resisted, and Bronzor is immune to Toxic. It can the set up Stealth Rocks and hit hard with Earthquake since Aron is 4X weak to hit. Hidden Power Ice can hit Flying- and Ground-types, Psychic hits Ghastly which otherwise would kind of wall this set. You can run Toxic over Hidden Power Ice if you want to poison stuff.

Misdreavus (F) @ Eviolite
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 196 HP / 76 SDef / 236 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute
- Nasty Plot
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

This might seem like a standard subnp set, but there's a twist: The EV's are, as you can see, more geared towards sp.def. This allows Misdreavus' substitutes to not break 2/3 of the time when hit by Bronzor's Psychic:

9 Atk vs 24 Def & 25 HP (90 Base Power): 4 - 6 (16.00% - 24.00%)

Bronzor often tend to stay in, to make sure that Missy doesn't get to keep her sub, to revenge it with a scarfer/stunky later. This set says fuck you to those bronzor.

Assuming there's no weather effect, Misdreavus can set up 4 substitutes (if necessary, it's not advised though)

OH HELL NAW. TIME FOR: SOVIETGUNK.

Sovietgunk (Croagunk) (M) @ Eviolite
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 212 HP / 28 Atk / 36 Def / 108 SAtk / 116 SDef
Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Fake Out
- Sucker Punch
- Vacuum Wave
- Shadow Ball

This bad boy's different than the Croagunk's that have been shown so far. It's never 2HKOed by Standard Misdreavu's Shadow Ball, so tanking that weaksauce specially defensive one is no problem. Shadow Ball / Sucker Punch 2HKO Misdreavus easily though!

lol sovietgunk so weak. my adamant scraggy kicks its ass

Joltik

Joltik (F) @ Eviolite
Trait: Compoundeyes
EVs: 116 HP / 196 Def / 60 SAtk / 116 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunder Wave
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Bug Buzz
- Thunderbolt

anyway my joltik is great at beating soviet gunk. come in with great bulk on both sides and lol. vacuum wave is like a 6hko while sucker punch should be a 4hko max. thunderbolt will easily 2hko that bitch also. can check both gligar and murkrow because its cool like that. not really fast at all so thunderwave is cool for supporting itself and its team. takes an acrobatics with gem and lo brave bird!

'Cos moving sprites are cool

Electrike @choice scarf
Trait: Lightning Rod
EVs: 236 spe, 240 sp. atk
Timid (+spe, -atk)
-Switcheroo
-flamethrower
-Thunderbolt
-Hidden power (grass)

Comes in on any electric move joltik has, or even hidden power ice or bug buzz, both of which he should survive. Then he either smashes the bug outright with flamethrower or pinches an eviolite with switcheroo. Hidden power grass stops any wooper/rhydon/geodude from getting any ideas...

Axew (F) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Mold Breaker
EVs: 68 HP / 220 Atk / 220 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Outrage
- Dual Chop
- Reversal
- Frustration

I resist everything you have, Electrike, and don't care about your Choice Scarf! I also absolutely obliterate you, and everything that isn't Bronzor, with Outrage. Dual Chop for breaking subs, so Sub Murkrow doesn't screw you, and the last two are because of Axew's absolutely barren movepool.

meet beldum

Beldum @ Eviolite
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 192 HP / 236 Atk / 36 Def / 44 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Headbutt
- Iron Head
- Take Down
- Zen Headbutt

say hello to my little friend (he is only 1'0 and 13.2 lbs)

Magnemite @ Eviolite
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 240 SAtk / 240 Spe
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
~ Thunderbolt
~ Substitute
~ Hidden Power Fire
~ Flash Cannon

resists everything, traps and kills. 'nough said.

Oh gosh, too easy.

Chinchou (M) @ Eviolite
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 76 HP / 132 Def / 148 SAtk / 148 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Heal Bell
- Scald

This is a fun little set that absolutely shits on that Magnemite. With 25 / 18 / 21 defenses with Eviolite, it takes absolutely nothing from anything that Magnemite can do. Furthermore, it can just Rest up if it happened to have taken some damage previously, and Sleep Talking a Heal Bell can wake you up prematurely! Furthermore, Heal Bell supports the rest of the team by clearing it of yucky status ailments. Finally, Scald is Scald...consistent damage, and can burn other Pokemon.

Cacnea (M) @ Oran Berry
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 36 HP / 236 Atk / 236 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Substitute
- Seed Bomb
- Sucker Punch

This thing out-right checks the above Chinchou. Cacnea can switch in any time it wants, Chinchou can't even dream of touching it. Cacnea can then set up Swords Dances and a Substitute, then OHKO Chinchou with Seed Bomb, and can possibly perform a sweep. Sucker Punch hits Ghost- and Psychic-types that outspeed Cacnea, such as Abra and Ghastly. Stealth Rock and Spikes support is always helpful if you'd like to sweep with Cacnea.

Koffing (f) @ Eviolite
Bold | Levitate
196 HP / 236 Def / 76 SpD
~ Clear Smog
~ Will-o-Wisp
~ Pain Split / Rest
~ Fire Blast / Sleep Talk

Koffing, probably my favorite physical wall! Walls Cacnea easily, and can even get rid of its boosts with Clear Smog, which also deals super effective damage. Pretty self-explanatory. Koffing can also use WoW to avoid Sucker Punch (unless there's a sub) and effectively make Cacnea pretty useless.

About time I posted in this thread...

Abra @focus sash
Timid
Magic Guard
240 SpA / 200 Spe
Psychic
Hidden Power Fighting
Shadow Ball
Protect

This is really self explanatory- Outspeeds and OHKO's with Psychic. Koffing can't really do anything back. Abra doesn't care about Will-O-Wisp. Infact it benefits Abra as it means it can't be put to sleep or paralyzed.

OK I gotcha.

Stunky @ Eviolite
Careful | Aftermath
92 HP / 92 Atk / 60 Def / 188 SpD / 4 Spe
~ Pursuit
~ Sucker Punch
~ Crunch
~ Explosion

Easy way to beat Abra. Switch in on a Psychic and go to town with one of your Dark-type attacks. It really can't do anything to Stunky with that movepool, so a couple of Pursuits and you should be golden.

Aron (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Rock Head
EVs: 196 Atk / 116 SDef / 196 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Head Smash
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Rock Polish

Nothing in that moveset threatens Aron, not even Explosion as it has 4x resist to it. Baton Pass an Agility boost from Venonat (who has good sinergy for Fighting attacks) and, if you can pull off the strategy, a Substitute. Something to dispose of Fighting types, especially Vaccum Wave from Croagunk, is appreciated.

Everybody's favourite mud coloured clay spinning top returns!

Baltoy @eviolite
EVs: 236 def, 116 sp. atk, 116 HP, 40 sp. def
-Substitute
-Charge beam
-Ice beam
-Earth power

Can happily come in on one of his moves, survive, and KO with earth power. Boltbeam is boltbeam, but charge beam gets his special attack to decent levels, substitute blocks status as well as trolling bronzor and other toxicers.

Porygon @ Eviolite
Trace | Calm
236 HP / 196 Def / 76 SpA
- Tri Attack
- Blizzard
- Thunderbolt
- Recover

This is the version of Eviolite Porygon that I am currently using, and it is extremely solid. In hail, Recover stalling and Blizzard spamming can allow Porygon to defeat nearly everything that lacks Toxic or a STAB Fighting-type attack. Calm is used over Bold for dealing with Misdreavus better, although you still can't deal with Hidden Power Fighting + Will-O-Wisp because HP Fighting: 38% + Burn: 12% = 50%, meaning you can't Recover stall it. Regarding Baltoy, Porygon traces Levitate from it, meaning that the only thing that Baltoy can hope for is an Ice Beam freeze. Blizzard or even repeated Tri Attacks should lead to an easy KO.

Also, can we take blarajan's advice and not post sets that have no good competitive usage aside from hard countering the above Pokemon? If you would seriously use an attacking Baltoy on ladder, you should probably not be playing Little Cup.

I suppose that's fair enough, but we'll have to give some slack over hard counters and that or we'll just get locked into a cycle of using very few pokemon (for example, ifI wanted to get a true hard counter, I could use the umpteenth magnemite now to counter porygon).

Anyway, time to use porygon's own tool against him.

Swinub @choice band
Snow cloak
EVs: 196 atk, 196 spe, 36 def, 36 HP, 44 sp. def
Adamant
-Superpower
-Icicle Spear
-Ice shard
-Earthquake

Swinub can take a hit from porygon, though he may not even need to due to snow cloak and presumably hail up and then threaten a OHKO with superpower. Earthquake is the main STAB that hurts a lot if you don't resist, Icicle spear is his best secondary STAB move as crash is illegal with superpower and ice shard gives some nice priority and revenge-killing potential.
