Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Also, take heart didn't exist before this gen so it had more issues with status like toxic if it wanted to get for the bulkier set up (i have no opinion on manaphy this gen btw)
You don't need specific things to beat Gholdengo, but the things that Gholdengo beats it utterly annihilates and thus drives many mons out of the metagame in an absolutely backbreaking fashion. Given it's unique ability to be immune to status moves and it's excellent typing and solid bulk...
Yeah I just want to point some things out for consideration regarding some arguments I've seen
1. Not every team (nor every hazard stack team) needs to be running Gholdengo for it's impact to still be felt in the meta
2. A hazard stack team does not need to be running Gholdengo to benefit from...
Yeah the argument that Ghold only impacts Corv so it isn't worth considering any action to it is not fair at all. If Corv were viable it does so well against the 3 spikes setters everyone is saying are an issue. And it's not like every team would run Corv, it would just take some of the usage...
I just don't understand how Gholdengo isn't suspect worthy if the big issue with the metagame is hazards and it's absolutely contributing to the hazard spam meta but virtue of invalidating almost all hazard removal. It might not be banned as a result but I can't see a legitimate argument that...
Is there a reason why banning Gholdengo would not help with the hazards meta? The post from NJNP just said it's been discussed immensely and that it didn't need to be explained any further, but I don't see how a mon that completely invalidates any hazard removal other than Tusk is not stopping...
This just is false information. It literally does gain Knock Off by level up. And roost is already a TM in SV so it will get that almost guaranteed. Really it's just defog which is a big loss, and toxic which is also a big loss but it can use the heat fling (did this occasionally in BDSP).
I haven't played the meta at all, but the whole "meta warping" aspect of Walking Wake seems like a really jank reasoning to ban it in my opinion. If it were in the meta from day 1 there wouldn't be anywhere near this amount of talk about how meta warping it is because the meta would have been...
For real. If you are letting a mon set up for a few turns and have no Unaware pokemon then you are making some sort of mistake.
Also agree that this thread is getting absolutely no where.
Yeah I really don't see why people think it's way too unpredictable of a mechanic. Here is one example:
My team is pretty weak to Garganacl, I kind of have to blast it with my Choice Specs Chi-Yu if it has set up even just one Iron Defense. However, it is very common for Garganacl to be Tera...
Pretty big difference between this and dmax because a lot of people really enjoy Tera while pretty much everyone thought dmax was broken. That's why this situation could warrant a separate ladder while dmax didn't.
