Magic Bounce allows Yveltal to annoy status using foes such as Giratina or most Wonder Guard users. Knock Off is a strong STAB move that removes items from every Pokémon lacking Wonder Guard. Pursuit allows Yveltal to trap Mega-Gengar, Mega-Mewtwo-Y, Dark weak Wonder Guards and choice locked Pokémon while Sucker Punch is better at revenge killing boosted threats and Aromatherapy supports Yveltal´s teammates. Defog is a way to realiably remove hazards as no Pokémon aside from Mold Breaker users can set up hazards in front of it, if you already have a Defog user on the team you can opt to run Baton Pass alongside a Sassy nature to give a safe switch to a teammate. Recover is essential to Yveltal for it´s longevity. Shed Shell covers Yveltal´s weakness to Shadow Tag while Safety Goggles protects it from Spore coming from Mold Breaker users.


Yveltal fits in teams with the core of SubPass Xerneas + Prankster Giratina as these two cover most of Yveltal´s weaknesses: strong physical attackers and –ate users. It also synergizes well with Sucker Punch Mega-Gyarados and Shadow Tag Regigigas as both revenge kill sweepers lacking King´s Shield. Pokémon like Mold Breaker Mega-Rayquaza or Primal-Groudon which are either weak to hazards or prone to beeing statused by Giratina or other walls.

Poison Heal Yveltal works as a counter to Mega-Gengar thanks to Toxic Orb blocking Dark Void, a resistance to Ghost and not beeing weak to either Sludge Wave or Secret Sword while spreading status with either Will-O-Wisp to cripple physical attackers or with Psycho Shift to wear down Pokemon without recovery. Knock Off works as item removal while Foul Play punishes attempts to sweep with Shell Smash and Pokémon with a high attack stat. Both Spiky Shield and King´s Shield provide one Toxic Orb recovery turn while punish contact moves meanwhile, Pursuit allows Yveltal to trap Mega-Gengar, Mega-Mewtwo-Y, Dark weak Wonder Guards and choice locked Pokémon. Recover is still needed as relying in Toxic Orb recovery can sometimes end in Yveltal dying. The given EV spread lets it survive Adamant Choice Band Dragon Ascent from Mega-Rayquaza and +2 Adamant Thousand Arrows from Primal-Groudon while OHKOing them back with Foul Play.


Although it doesn´t harm teams that have a sleep inducing Mold Breaker such as Primal-Groudon, Mega-Gengar or Arceus, this sets fits better in teams whose Mold Breaker users don´t rely on sleep such us Choice Band Primal-Groudon, Mega-Rayquaza or Mega-Latios, as these three Pokemon like the opposing walls beeing worn down.

This set focuses on Yveltal´s offensive capabilities as a Dark-type that has STAB on Pursuit beeing an effective revenge killer, Sucker Punch hits faster Pokemon like boosted Primal-Groudon and Dialga, Mega-Rayquaza, Mega-Latios and more while Pursuit traps slower, bulkier Pokemon like Wonder Guards, Giratina, Ho-Oh or boosted threats switching in, forcing them into a 50/50 both Gastro Acid and Trick-or-Treat allow Yveltal to trap Wonder Guard users, while the former has more uses the latter is better at trapping, Iron Head gets the job done on Wonder Guard Xerneas and Mega Audino, in the other hand Knock Off provides item removal and a strong STAB hit that has a chance to OHKO Primal-Kyogre, Giratina, Ho-Oh and more. Dread Plate and Life Orb can be used to get the guaranteed OHKO on Giratina, Ho-Oh and Primal-Kyogre if you are using a Dread Plate and Mega Mewtwo X if you are using Life Orb, Expert Belt is use on sets with Iron Head or Trick-or-Treat getting the KO on Xerneas and most pokemon whose type has been changed by Trick-Or-Treat. Lum Berry is an excelent choice to beat Will-O-Wisp Giratina that would otherwise wall you.

This set is prefferably used on teams that have problems getting past Giratina, Cresselia or Dusclops, or teams that lack a revenge killing option.

Parting Shot can be used over Batton Pass as another way to pivot on defensive sets, on the Huge Power set Gear Grind can be used to punish Substitute Xerneas at the cost of accuracy.





Checks and Counters
====

**Offensive Shadow Tag users**:If Yveltal lacks a Shed Shell it´s easily threatened by it´s most common users in the form of Primal-Groudon, Regigigas and Mega-Mewtwo-X that are aren´t weakned enough to be OHKO´ed by offensive sets, however defensive sets suffer a lot more from Shadow Tag users.

**Wonder Guard**: Some specific Wonder Guard users like Mega Scizor, Skuntank or Primal-Groudon block status from Poison Heal Yveltal, some Wonder Guard users like Xerneas dont care about Magic Bounce and others like Mega Lucario don´t care about Huge Power Yveltal, making Wonder Guard a matchup that you only win sometimes.

**Fairy types **: Fairy types like Mega-Diancie, Mega-Gardevoir, and Xerneas threaten Yveltal out with their stab moves while Yveltal can´t do much if it´s not running Iron Head.
