Whoa, it's hot in here! (Gerard vs. Canis Majoris)

Here in the Genshi simulatron, an heated battle is going to start!

On this corner, the powerful psyquic, Gerard!

Gavroche (Reuniclus) {♂}

Nature: Brave (+1 Atk, -15% Speed, -10% Evasion)
Type: Psychic

  • Psychic: Psychic STAB; Less susceptible to blinding, more susceptible to sound-based assaults as far as locking on with Psychic attacks, can lift and throw opponents with Psychic attacks regardless of weight difference.

Abilities:
  • Magic Guard: (Innate)
This Pokemon is infused with a powerful psycho-electric energy that makes it immune to damage from Hail, Sandstorm, and damage from Leech Seed, Poisoning, and Burn. It can still attack itself in confusion, but will not absorb any damage from it. Additionally, the energy protects the Pokemon from its own reckless recoil attacks.
  • Overcoat: (Innate)
This Pokemon has a sturdy exterior that rebuffs the elements, making it immune to damage inflicted by bad weather. If the Pokemon is already immune to at least one (1) kind of weather by typing or a different ability, Overcoat reduces the Base Attack Power of all oncoming attacks by one (1).
  • Regenerator: (Innate)
When this Pokemon is switched out during a switch battle, it reacts to the energy in the Pokeball and (ten) 10 HP is restored. When this Pokemon Chills, it restores six (6) HP in addition to its 12 Energy.

Type: Fighting / Psychic

  • Fighting: Fighting STAB; Ignore weight restrictions of throwing/grappling moves. Superior reaction time in close quarters.
  • Psychic: Psychic STAB; Less susceptible to blinding, more susceptible to sound-based assaults as far as locking on with Psychic attacks, can lift and throw opponents with Psychic attacks regardless of weight difference.

Abilities:
  • Pure Power (Innate)
This Pokemon has immense inner strength that grows with its development, raising its Attack and its Base Rank Total by one Rank for each evolution level (Baby = 1, Basic = 2, Stage 1 = 3). If Skill Swapped, the swapped Pokemon's Attack and Base Rank Total is only raised by one Rank.
  • Telepathy: (Innate)
This Pokemon has a mental link with its allies in multiple battles, which allows it to avoid taking damage from allied attacks that damage each foe or the entire field like Blizzard and Earthquake. They are still affected by an opponents spread damage attacks.

Facing him, there's the Flareon aficionado, directly from Sirius, Canis Majoris!

Flareon [Jet] (Male) *

"I'll protect you. No matter the cost."
Desperation Theme: Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Might Controls Everything
Jet was part of a group of Pokémon that eventually died to a gang of Bisharp and Pawniard. Rescued by Michael, he was the first partner that he ever saw as a true friend. As a Flareon, he favours divine justice and calculation over brute force.

Nature: Quiet (+1 SpA, -15% Speed, -10% Evasion)
Type: Fire
Fire: Fire STAB; immune to burn, emit a low glow in dark places, takes additional damage if active open flames are exposed to a water attack. Superior senses in volcanic or brushfire areas.

Abilities:
Flash Fire: (Innate) This Pokemon thrives in high temperatures, and takes the energy of any opposing fire attack, nullifies the damage, and uses the additional power to boost its own fire attack's Base Attack Power by two (2). Self-targeted attacks do not give the boost.
Guts: (DW) (Innate) (Unlocked) This Pokemon is tenacious and will work ever harder when under a status condition, raising the Base Attack Power of all its physical attacks by two (2). Pokemon with Guts ignore the attack drop from burn.

<Cupra> [Rita] (Female)
Desperation Theme: Tales of Vesperia - A Bet on This Bout

Nature: Sassy (+1 SpD, -15% Speed, -10% Evasion)
Type: Bug/Psychic
Bug: Bug STAB; more mobility in dense brush or forest conditions. Gains one extra attack on multi-hit moves, with a cap of five (5).
Psychic: Psychic STAB; less susceptible to blinding, more susceptible to sound-based assaults as far as locking on with Psychic attacks, can lift and throw opponents with Psychic regardless of Special Attack Rank. Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.

Abilities:
Shield Dust: (Innate) This Pokemon has dust covering the outside of its body that prevents opponents secondary effects from taking place (eg burn from Flamethrower). It does not block direct status moves (such as Thunder Wave.)
Keen Eye: (Innate) This Pokemon has extremely good vision and cannot have its accuracy lowered by an opponent through any means (including accuracy lowering attacks, Smogs, Hazes, Fog, etc.). Its attacks are still affected by an opponent’s evasion and the Pokemon's own accuracy.
Illusion: (DW) (Innate) (Locked) Whenever you send this Pokemon out, it can feign the appearance of another member on your squad. If this Pokemon is damaged by a direct attack, the Illusion will cease at the end of the round. Direct damage is any attack that does damage to the Pokemon's HP. Attacks that are evaded, blocked via Protect, or damage a Substitute are not considered direct damage. It will retain the typing and moveset of the Pokemon with Illusion. [Usage Note: PM the ref if you are sending out a Pokemon with Illusion with the info on said Pokemon and one of your squad members in a Switch=KO battle. You must use that squad member later in the battle though.]

Arena: Simulatron: Genshi
Format: All
Complexity: Moderate-Intense
Field Type: Fire/Ground
Restrictions: No Water, No Rain or Hail
"This simulator gives an accurate depiction of the harsh jungle-like environment of Genshi, the first planet in the Nanairo System! The exotic trees and beautiful landscape carve out the planet, but watch out for volcanos and the lava in the middle! Also, by being close to the sun, hail and rain dont seem to do much anyways! The heat is also pretty intense, strengthening fire and weakening water! Also, the area is geologically active, so moves like Earthquake work better than usual."
--
Summary:
The heat on Genshi is strong, but not strong enough as to make it hurtful. All Fire-Type moves' final damage is increased by 1, while all Water-Type moves' final damage is decreased by 1. Stacks with Sun.
No water but plenty of grass. However, Surf is usable with the lava, being treated as a Fire-Type move.
Rain and Hail cannot be summoned due to the proximity to the Sun. Sandstorm may still be summoned.
The geologically active area makes Earthquake, Dig, Magnitude and Fissure have an extra 2 BAP.

(Reuniclus? Oh boy.)

"Ah, you're the Psychic Gym Leader, I hear. I am not here to challenge you, but I hope we can have a fun battle!"

"Hey, it's your first day out in the field, right? Don't let up for a second."

"Got it."

Jet the Flareon @Exp. Share
Rita the Cupra @Lucky Egg

Oh,Mathis is so hot, we should have thought about it before coming in, but there's nothing we can do so let's just get to it, first go for the field control, and then try to get as much damage on as possible, Flareon is obviously out main target so let's try to get him out of the way ASAP.

Gavroche [Exp. Share]: Trick Room ~ Rock Slide ~ Rock Slide
* If Rock Slide is Disabled then use Fire Punch A3 instead

Omen [Exp. Share]: Light Screen ~ Brick Break (Flareon) ~ Brick Break (Flareon)
* If you're Burned when you target Flareon then use Facade instead

"Ah, so you're going with field control like always. Luckily, I found a flaw in your plans.
Jet! Begin by using the field to your advantage and making a Wave of Heat! Then, Protect yourself from the barrage of damage! Afterwards, launch another Heat Wave!"
Rita! Focus on the flaw on their plan and begin by using Megahorn on the Reuniclus! Then, as Reuniclus uses Rock Slide and is faster, Disable it! Finish off with another Megahorn at the Reuniclus!"

Jet: Heat Wave > Protect (Self) > Heat Wave
Rita: Megahorn (Reuniclus) > Disable (Reuniclus, Rock Slide) > Megahorn (Reuniclus)

(Notes: Gerard forgot to specify a target for the Fire Punch sub and that is therefore illegal. The other sub is also technically illegal, but it won't be much of an issue since I'm not taking advantage of it.)

The match has started, and Canis managed to throw a wrench in Gerard's plans for this round, but will he be able to keep momentum?

Meditite -2 HP

Putting this here: Canis, the Facade sub, albeit annoyingly worded, was legal, since it had a clear target. I asked around in IRC and this was the consensus.

"Alright, now for a stronger attack.

Jet! It seems that Reuniclus is lower than it expected to be. Begin with a Fire Blast at it! Then, because we dont want our Meditite to feel bad, Heat Wave both! Finish with another Fire Blast at the Reuniclus!

Rita! Focus on the Reuniclus as well! Hit it with a Megahorn! Then, as Meditite is already suffering from burn and Facade will deal the same damage, Toxic it! Finish with another Megahorn!

(This is not good, but hopefully I can catch up next round.)"

Jet: Fire Blast (Reuniclus) > Heat Wave > Fire Blast (Reuniclus)
IF Reuniclus faints redirect attacks to Meditite
IF Reuniclus is under the effects of a P/E move when you would use Fire Blast redirect to Meditite

Rita: Megahorn (Reuniclus) > Toxic (Meditite) > Megahorn (Reuniclus)
IF Reuniclus faints redirect remaining attacks to Meditite
IF Reuniclus is under the effects of a P/E move when you would use Megahorn redirect to Meditite

I May have been careless before but we are not getting hit by that again, time to get back on our feet

PS: Reuniclus should have 5 extra Hp due to Overcoat

Gavroche: Skill Swap (Jet's Flash Fire & Gavroche's Overcoat) ~ Fire Punch (Rita) ~ Fire Punch (Rita)

Omen: Brick Break (Jet) ~ Fracturade [Facade + Facade Combo] (Rita) ~ Cooldown (Fracturade [Facade + Facade Combo] (Rita))

Gerard has managed to turn the whole battle around with a single move, a clever Skill Swap that has neutered Flareon, and now he faces two weakened opponents, ripe for the picking. Can Canis Majoris pull out a surprise reversal?

One MAJOR mistake that wasn't noticed before, Jet lacks Protect, and thus shouldn't have used it round 1 (so he loses some health due to rock slide and might have been flinched)

This has been hot match so far but we gotta have to blow the candles in here and finish our job, Gavroche, recover yourself a bit, meanwhile Omen has some unfinished business with that larvae.

Gavroche: Pain Split (Jet) ~ Psyshock (Jet) ~ Rock Slide
* If Jet targets you with a Quick Attack Combo A1 then use Protect and push actions

Omen: Bullet Punch (Rita) ~ Fake Out (Jet) ~ Facade (Jet)
* If Rita uses Protect (on herself) A1 then use Fake Out (Jet) A1 and push actions

(Here's a little something I'll use when starting future battles. :3 Yes Dogfish I ripped you off, deal with it :V)

"It seems this battle is coming to a close. Mind you, I will not go out without a fight!"

"Iniciating Excel Strife."

"I'm not done! I'm gonna fight until the end!"

Jet: Excel Strife: Sound Breaker (Quick Attack + Bite (Meditite)) > Cooldown (Fire Fang (Meditite)) > Fire Fang (Reuniclus)

Rita: Megahorn + Megahorn (Reuniclus) > Cooldown (Megahorn (Reuniclus)) > Protect

Canis puts all he has into a desperation tactic, hoping for a key flinch. Unfortunately for him, Lady Luck does not show her smile, and Gerard's mons make quick work of him.
