Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Corrosive Gas

Vileplume can be considered a counter to Dragon Dance Flygon, as Flygon needs +1 to even hope to 2hko and +3 to have a chance OHKOing with Earthquake. Inbetween the turns of setup, Vileplume easily 3HKOs Flygon with Giga Drain to win the 1v1 scenario even when switching into Flygon.

Check. Comfey can come in on any of Flygon's attacks and then do pretty much anything from clicking CM to getting HP back with D-Kiss, Giga, and Synth, or just switching out into something else knowing Flygon isn't winning the 1v1. Short, sweet, and to the point.

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Protect
- Moonblast
- Heal Bell

PhysDef Sylveon is a great counter to Flygon, as it avoids being swept after it sets up, and OHKOs back with Hyper Voice. It can even switch in to a +1 EQ and likely survive the second; guaranteed if you Protect on a second EQ. Sylveon also discourages Flygon from spamming Outrage, or if it does, then Sylveon is a clean revenge killer once it's locked.

Edit: Throat Chop disables Hyper Voice, something I totally overlooked lol. Moonblast works, but lacks the OHKO of Hyper Voice.

Calcs:
+0: 252 Atk Flygon Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Sylveon: 129-153 (32.7 - 38.8%) -- 4.7% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

+3: +3 252 Atk Flygon Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Sylveon: 319-376 (80.9 - 95.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Slyveon:

check! can come in on flygon for a decent amount of time, but has to stay healthy to check it reliably. can dish out damage with either ice beam or blastoise can slo flip turn into a partner pokemon, which can take on flygon as well. blastoise can also use toxic, so its flygon will have to eat its lum berry in the process and therefore makes outrage a little more unreliable due to confusion turns.

Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Close Combat
- Will-O-Wisp
- Morning Sun

Arcanine is an offensive check to Copperajah as it can switch into its STAB Heavy Slam pretty comfortably and it can also switch into its coverage options in Heat Crash and Power Whip very comfortably as well. Arcanine can dish out some hefty damage with its Flare Blitz STAB and is also able to cripple Copperajah with its Will-O-Wisp option. It can also scare Copperajah out and cripple another incoming teampartner of it. Morning Sun gives Arcanine the longevity its needs to check Copperajah consistently. However Arcanine has to be careful about switching into Copperajahas coverage in Earthquake. But overall Arcanine is a great offensive check to the green steely elephant.

calcs:
-1 252+ Atk Copperajah Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Arcanine: 86-102 (26.7 - 31.7%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

-1 252+ Atk Copperajah Power Whip vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Arcanine: 57-68 (17.7 - 21.1%) -- possible 5HKO
-1 252+ Atk Copperajah Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Arcanine: 192-228 (59.8 - 71%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Druddigon

Sorry for the lack of a set, for some reason P.S. is down for me right now? I'll add one soon but basically off the top of my head
Druddigon @ Rocky Helmet
Nature: Bold
Ability: Rough Skin
EV's 252 HP/4 Atk/24 SpDef/Rest Def
OR Add 100 Speed for Sylveon
-Stealth Rock
-Glare
-Fire Punch
-Gunk Shot
My absolute favorite sleeper pick in the meta rn, Drudd has the ability to threaten common cores with it's amazing movepool (Glare is BUSTED) and a fantastic ability that allows it to chip down threats easily throughout a game, oh and Dragon brings a ton of great resistances with it. Copper might be it's favorite victim, always surviving 4 hits from defensive sets and 3 from offensive, it gets off massive Helmet+Rough Skin damage while 2HKOing after the contact damage with Fire Punch, getting off Glares, or shrugging off Copper and setting up rocks. Almost every single time you bring Drudd in on Copper you'll get mileage. It's a great check to the steel elephant.

Nominating Talonflame as a defensive (utility?) check / counter

Talonflame @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Roost
- Flare Blitz
- Toxic
- U-turn

Talonflame is a great answer to Copperajah thanks to its typing, good enough bulk, and reliable recovery, which allows it to continue switching in multiple times. Flame Body also means that it can passively hinder Copperajah with a burn just by switching in to take an attack. Here's the best Copperajah can hope to do as Talonflame switches in:

252+ Atk Copperajah Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Talonflame: 141-166 (39.2 - 46.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

This basically means that Talonflame can Roost off the damage as Copperajah switches out or Flare Blitz should Flame Body trigger on the switch. The only scenario Talonflame would have a problem is if Copperajah stays in and goes for Earthquake as Talonflame uses Roost. Still, that's a gutsy prediction on Copperajah's part as Flare Blitz, while not an OHKO, does 68% minimum. While this doesn't outright OHKO, that's more than enough for Copperajah to generally be ineffective at taking hits the rest of the game.

0 Atk Talonflame Flare Blitz vs. 168 HP / 0 Def Copperajah: 294-348 (68.8 - 81.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Note that because of the recoil damage taken, Talonflame can't take 2 Heavy Slams (1 on the switch and 1 after) and Flare Blitz without fainting to the 2nd Heavy Slam. However, if Talonflame cones in on any other attack, Flare Blitz recoil won't drop Talonflame into range of Heavy Slam. And any time Flame Body activates, it just becomes an absolute nightmare for Copper.

Golisopod @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Emergency Exit
EVs: 232 HP / 248 Atk / 28 Spe
Adamant Nature
- First Impression

Nominating as a check. Golisopod takes most of Copperajah's attacks (except stone edge) and can dish out big damage with CC, a 2hko with Liquidation or Knocking Off the AV making it easier to damage with a teammate. Also, if they choose to stay in and attack again, you get pushed into emergency exit range after you get your attack off, giving you offensive momentum.

:Copperajah:
252+ Atk Copperajah Heat Crash (120 BP) vs. 232 HP / 0 Def Golisopod: 107-127 (30.6 - 36.3%) -- 59.2% chance to 3HKO

Check this out. Close Combat obviously blows through with or without choice band, and comes with the benefit of smashing something anyway. Knock Off still does considerable damage. Bullet Punch. Drain Punch backed by choice band KOs, and helps him regain up to almost 2/3 of his health. And only under pristine circumstances could he actually switch in and regain most of the health he lost from jumping in at a bad time.

I’ve been a guzz advocate for the longest, and although I haven’t played much NU in the past week(ZU goes dummy rn), in the few game I have played Guzzlord remains one of my favorite Pokémon. It’s main role with this set is to shuffle Pokémon around on Spikes and serve as a defensive check to Copper. Many teams, especially slower, fat teams, are very weak to Copper, and Guzz patches that hole nicely. As you may know, Guzzlord is heavy. So heavy in fact, that Copperajah does little to nothing with its Heavy Slam. It’s coverage moves do even less, as Heat Crash and Power Whip are resisted, and with the defense investment you take EQ pretty well. Fun defensive check to copper, it’s niche is that it also serves to Knock off Sylveon and shuffle teams around. The only reason I’d call it a check and not a counter is because apparently Play Rough Copper is a thing >:(
252+ Atk Copperajah Heavy Slam (40 BP) vs. 0 HP / 252+ Def Guzzlord: 76-90 (12.9 - 15.3%) -- possibly the worst move

Probably the best switch in to CB Ttrum Head Smash in the tier, Muds is able to consistently eat hits, and with access to Stamina, TTrum powers up Muds, making it an even better counter turn 2. EQ also does a lot back to TTrum

Barring the haxiest of hax, and/or a touch of bad weather, Cresselia can stand as a counter. Moonlight healing can outpace the damage taken after eating the Kee Berry, she has just enough speed to go first, and Moonblast exploits Tyrantrum's bad special defense to 2HKO. reserving bronzong

:bw/bronzong:
Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature

- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Protect
- Iron Head

Bronzong is a check to Choice Band Tyrantrum, as it can come in on its Dragon Claw rather easily, and it only gets 3HKOed by its boosted Head Smash. Close Combat also does only 3HKO and with Protect Bronzong can regain some Leftovers Recovery and can stay healthy for a longer amount of time. Iron Head is after Stealth Rocks-chip a high favor to 2HKO Tyrantrum, so physically defensive Bronzong is a great check to Tyrantrum. However it can't come in as much as it wants and Crunch is still a highly threatening coverage against it, therefore Bronzong is only a check.

calcs:
0 Atk Bronzong Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tyrantrum: 134-162 (43.9 - 53.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252+ Atk Choice Band Tyrantrum Head Smash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Bronzong: 124-147 (36.6 - 43.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Tyrantrum Dragon Claw vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Bronzong: 66-78 (19.5 - 23%) -- possible 6HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Tyrantrum Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Bronzong: 133-157 (39.3 - 46.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Tyrantrum Crunch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Bronzong: 178-210 (52.6 - 62.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
