UUSD IV - Team/Set Disposal Center

Now that playoffs are underway, it's time for the customary team and set dump thread. It's always great to see techs made throughout the tour even if they didn't see action. And of course, seeing how old generations see new trends. Feel free to share your favorites below !

Not going to go into a lot of depth but thank you to my managers hariyana grande and Askov for drafting me, this was fun and hopefully I'll be able to team with you guys again in a UU team tour. Thanks to everyone else on the team as well for making it an enjoyable environment, despite us not having the results we wanted.

Warning: There is some heat in here I do not advise using ->
these will be marked with an asterisk.

https://pokepast.es/2762f67d1ba63135 - give those unmons a chance, they're not that bad (umbreon bramble talon), stone edge gastro prob meme but it does hit av torn a bit harder
https://pokepast.es/cc81cf2adbb87c9e - scarf hilli is ass but faster hwish kinda cool, random av mons sometimes eat hits you shouldn't be eating and flip the games momentum

Hello there, Dragonairs are out, so heres the 8 teams I used during this 2 months of tournament.
If you want to access the team, just click on the sprites. With the rise of Skeledirge, most of them are unfortunately outdated..
This tournament was a blast, being able to do 6-2 is something I'm proud about, I had a ton of fun to build all those teams.

W = I won with the team
L = I lost with the team

semis team, i wanted to ho and condas used balloon treads a lot so i didn't want to run standard lead shocks. i also liked that making room for tera blast didnt give opposing leaves / sinistcha free turns. rocks hydrei gets them up reliably and patches up the dirge mu. i think eject pack is cool to dump damage on stuff like hands / dogi / av torn without sacrificing momentum early game and can lure in stuff for leaves to set up on if u end up saving it for late game. rest of the team is pretty standard

some stuff that didnt get used that i think is cool (read: shitmons):
Screenshot 2023-12-07 at 2.46.26 PM.png
toxicroak is cool because it just kinda wins vs rain if they ever lock into a water move which is sick considering booster HO's mu vs rain is generally pretty bad. does some other cool stuff like owning fs king / being able to muscle past psyfang-less okidogi (hit gunk shot). outside of rain its like fast enough / strong enough to pump out the damage that you need it to but nothing crazy. cool mon try it out, its def better now with dirge gone. also yache torn is a cool tech for early game weav / mamo / +1 speed treads

Screenshot 2023-12-07 at 2.55.39 PM.png
i think azelf was pretty sick when okidogi balance was everywhere cause it has the coverage to kill everything if it could get on the field enough times. still think its a cool mon worth experimenting with. its speed tier + tera steel lets it close out games somewhat reliably i found. tera electric is probably decent too for muscling past av torn. somehow one of the few mons that can come in on hands and threaten meaningful damage without letting it just drain punch it all off.

shoutouts to Sage and Monky25 and (vivalospride) for drafting me, this tour was a ton of fun and i'm glad i could help when it mattered. @ team hopefully we get the chance to team again in the future :)

helloooo this tour was fun, and it looks like this meta that was dominating the majority of the tour will be coming to a close soonish, w dlc and rises/drops/etc. dropping a few cool things here while i can

gonna actively try not to ramble about intricacies of sets and evs and specific slots and whatever tf bc i’m writing this exclusively while shitting and not even looking at the pastes while doing so

W2 vs. mncmt
:thundurus-therian: :tornadus-therian: :gastrodon: :heatran: :quaquaval: :okidogi:
this game was pretty low quality, at the time I liked this team but I think my grasp on the meta was overall worse, it isn’t surprising that 70% of the time I lost this game based on the team I used, obviously it’s not all about the team but BASICALLY i’m just saying the team isn’t horrible but it definitely isn’t as good as a lot of the stuff i used the rest of the tour, I was a fan of these therian spam core teams quite a bit, and still am probably higher on thund than others are. But yeah this game was an unfortunate one, hopefully I get a higher quality game vs mence in the near future.

W3 vs fooly
:meowscarada: :azumarill: :tornadus-therian: :skeledirge: :gastrodon: :heatran:
This game was probably the one I feel the best about in totality, I made the team hand in hand with Punny and just adjusted 2 slots after the fact, the azu + meow used to be weav + oger, which was originally what we were tryna build around. The main thing that stands out is that there’s no treads and instead a gastrodon, which obviously means no removal basically. I think this team heavily rewards keeping control of the game, keeping your foot on the gas, which I think the team encourages well enough. Double CB makes most mus winnable with making some sort of line for torn plausible through clicking your ass off with choiced breakers and having an unaware mon in dirge to lean back on. It helps a lot that both choiced breakers have a fair amount of utility with azu as a great trader/draco immunity and CB meow doubling as an efficient fast pivot/speed control in a way.

W4 vs ninja
:hydreigon: :heatran: :amoonguss: :iron treads: :azumarill: :tornadus-therian:
This game i’m relatively happy about as well although i don’t remember it as vividly, I basically just wanted to build around sub hydreigon, at this point basically all my teams except for semis were in some way shape or form created prior to the week even starting, let alone me knowing my matchup. Really this team has all the fixings of a SM UU BO, which is smth that I enjoyed about it. I basically ended up w something pretty straight forward and honest with opportunities to be aggressive, which I hope to continue throughout the remainder of my time playing pokemon as smth I can lean on and play to my ceiling. Another Azumarill, mon is amazing. yada yada

W5 vs Ninjadog
:pelipper: :iron treads: :amoonguss: :empoleon: :tornadus-therian: :azumarill:
This team is sick as fuck and the one I enjoyed the most by a wide margin, through playing with or talking about or whatever. I don’t think it’s necessarily the most standard/100% sound team in the entire universe but I do think it’s mu spread is quite good. I enjoy this team personally myself bc it is unique but also simple in its approach to basically every single game aside from more cheesy mus. Hurricane = mongo damage vs this tier w no flying resists to its name. That is the entirety of the team’s road towards victory, and I think the mons surrounding it guide it towards that route about as well as they reasonably can. Vs cheesier stuff the mu is definitely a fair bit worse bc of speed tiers, but with defensive tera’s + encore + prio + trading there are outs. I ended up rolling into a screens team which wasn’t ideal, and the game quality unfortunately wasn’t super high as I ended up confusing my opp’s mon to seal the game in my favor, I don’t think the end game was at straight forward as it appeared but was definitely at the minimum in my opponent’s favor so that was an unfortunate end to the game. Regardless I still feel quite confident in this team and I think it’s super fun at the least.

W6 vs Mimi
:indeedee: :polteageist: :armarouge: :espeon: :hawlucha: :moltres-galar: (no paste bc not my team to any real extent)
Punny team I had an extremely minimal amount of hand in, his team, this week I felt like I had leaned into a pattern and it was time to shake it up. I still attempted to build smth interesting and I believe ended up with some CB Tera Fairy Wevaile + Ogerpon team that I do think was good or at the least a bit interesting, but ultimately decided against it in favor of running this psychic terrain that I was confident in for a multitude of reasons (seeing punny destroy with it in tests and never end up w a non straight forward mu). Ultimately another thing that led me to use smth that isn’t my own is I faced mimi on his alt on the ladder w said weavile team and my mu was horrendous and I haxed and still got waxed lol.

W7 vs DugZa
:azumarill: :skeledirge: :hydreigon: :iron treads: :iron hands: :tornadus-therian:
This mu decided the best regular season SV record basically, so I was excited for it a bit but at this point in the tour my juices in the builder just weren’t really flowing, especially after the week prior where I attempted to build and ultimately just leaned on psychic terrain. Something similar did happen this week as well, where I attempted to build and ultimately leaned on my crutch Punny to save the day. The week prior vs the Terrors in scl he had lined up two teams he was equally happy with, and chooses one or the other (obviously). This team is essentially the team he didn’t end up choosing, with some edits to suit my needs more specifically as a player. Originally it was Sylveon > Azumarill and as I’ve discussed Azumarill is very good. Just gives it more immediate oomph while still maintaining the fairy type in that slot and even giving an emergency water resist without tera. I also changed the hands tera to better abuse status and changed the Treads to tera water to better handle rain and water breakers like Azumarill + Volcanion, which felt necessary bc originally the Sylveon was tera water to help w the above, and Azumarill is obviously inherently less fat than Sylveon so just changing Sylveon to smth that resists water in the way that azu resists water wasn’t really gonna cut it for me. Ultimately in the game itself I was mostly pleased with it but the end game I think I played a bit lost altogether and made it harder than it needed to be, this week was definitely one to remember regardless of my game tho lol.

semis vs moss
:scizor: :iron treads: :tornadus-therian: :skeledirge: :tauros-paldea-aqua: :bellibolt:
This team is still smth I am happy with individually for the most part, I think I should’ve prioritized a more aggressive route and picked a torn set that benefits more from amoonguss or matcha or whatever that makes bull + belli useless being on the field. This game my mu was borderline unwinnable and I didn’t necessarily do myself any favors in game either, I don’t think I played horribly but winning games like these require me to be locked in at preview and moving towards a specific out or outs from turn 1, i definitely didn’t do that to the best of my ability and I think my opponent definitely played well enough to make it not randomly easy for me as well, I am unhappy w the prep bc I figured I’d see smth like this and I knew the mu would’ve been hard if I did and ultimately didn’t do anything about it, wasn’t confident enough to change AV torn when I should’ve been imo. Just do anything to make it easier for myself. I still think this team is kinda sick tho and I am a bull fan, I think it is (most of the time) better w CB specifically than quack, azu is way better than it but the speed tier is massive and obviously it has a different kind of utility to it than azu does, so it’s moreso picking and choosing what you value more and for this team I liked bull. Quack I think can be the better CB guy sometimes but again it’s kinda picking and choosing, to me the speed tier is vital, and wild charge is p massive as well. Ultimately w this team I just stacked too much stuff that couldn't break through a team with amoong + pokemon and didn't do enough to have other slots abuse it when it's on the field.

Thank you to Sage for valuing me as much as she did pre and post draft. Obviously Monky25 as well for keeping an eye on SV to keep the activity at a high enough floor

Thank you Punny for helping me as a player and builder, I think i’ve always been a bit close minded and assumed I know best throughout the past 3 gens of building uu, but I honestly feel like from building/playing/talking to you you’ve broadened my horizons, as well as helping me improve a lot.

Shoutout to umbry for also giving me notes on my games and builds whenever I asked when she really didn’t have to, has helped me a lot.

also want to note that Notily is one of the best SV guys in the builder by a fair margin, rarely has bad ideas not worth exploring, and at the same time consistently has ideas to potentially push the meta forward instead of just defaulting to the same 5-6 mons/sets every game. Massive steal of the draft and hopefully if he’s still active when uupl comes around he will be another steal there for whoever gets him.

week 1: my plan against sylvi was to set hazards and kill everything with crawdaunt, but i ran into megapert which kinda just goobed my entire team, and after missing consecutive super fangs on it, i went into instant desperation mode. managed to up a layer of spikes with keys, and from there it was a matter of whether they could execute the winning moves vs me in the endgame. i somehow get the crucial sd off with crawdaunt and cause enough havoc to beat the toxic timer on hydreigon.
week 2: loaded a crocune team against gondra that was sent to me by pdt, and managed to wall his entire team with bronzong once it rolled high enough on psywave to pick off the wish pass to virizion, which was the one and only threat i really had to eliminate. cb krook put in a lot of work here too.
week 3: told pdt i wanted to load specs garde this week vs elfu, and he cooked up this interesting squad of misfits. i prayed for no suicune and executed one of my more aggressive game plans to get a successful scarf darm clean here, even channeling my inner pdt by predicting his mega aero to catch a potential lix switch-in and high jump kick it into suicune hell.
week 4: this was a current gen style volt-turn team against scalescale featuring 5 u turn and volt switch spammers and sd crawdaunt as my wallbreaker. opted for rock tomb on shao and it ended up working like a gem in the late game. crawdaunt managed to pick up a couple kills as usual.
week 5: loaded spikes offense with np infernape vs the strap here. jellicent should have put in massive work vs him due to his hazard control being rest talk mega blastoise, but letting his bronzong toxic it was a huge blunder on my part, and he capitalized on it extremely well to eventually get off the rapid spin, clearing the way for croak/scarf krook to break apart the rest of my team. wp to him for this match, and having an overall great season taking down some of the bigger names in the pool too.
week 6: loaded a cb hera team vs liam's sableye team and it managed to kill 3 mons while only ever using knock off that game, while 3 attacks + toxic seismitoad pretty much killed the other three. interesting way to win this, but this definitely showed me that cb hera is still real despite sd being by far its biggest weapon rn.
week 7: this team was a fun one to build; we were already locked into playoffs and i wanted to fuck around lol. reina in turn decided to load rain vs me, which could have been a potential issue... had sableye not completely saved my ass here. krook was sash rocks 3 attacks with iron tail b/c fairies were an issue, drapion was the killintime special set with the wrong item because i originally made this some wack ass sd set and pdt demanded that i change it to acupressure, shark was destiny bond b/c it acted as an emergency button to anything not called whimsicott, and sneasel was a cool option that offered ice shard, speed, and an overall fit with the vibes of this team.
semifinals: loaded a fat reuniclus team without a fat water type into andyboy, who brought klefki spikes w/ sleep powder rose, the latter of which was a huge problem for my team. i successfully put both jelli and rhyperior on timers with aggron, but this did not stop rose from being a super annoying factor throughout the match. i ended up sacking aggron to his hydreigon for no reason and made some unnecessary predicts with my specs hydreigon, but i'm not sure if andy forgot that prankster could hit dark types this gen or something, which allowed my hydreigon to effectively blast through the rest of his team. anyways, this was easily my worst performance of the season, and if andy hadn't made some costly mistakes himself, i would have almost certainly lost this match.
finals: loaded yet another fat team vs ojr who flipped the matchup on my head by loading the one mon that ripped my entire team apart and the one mon that truly walls specs hydreigon. i had to play a lot more aggressive than initially planned, making aggressive crobat switches that would eventually get punished by a well timed celebi psychic, and at this point, i had to rely on calm nature florges to chip it down with perhaps a bit of luck. ojr and i both acknowledged that there were some misplays on his part, but in the end, the matchup was just way too difficult for me to come from behind, and he took the well deserved win there.
Crawdaunt @ Splash Plate
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Crabhammer
- Knock Off
- Aqua Jet

this was by far one of my favorites to load up because as long as it's not burned, all this mon really needs its stabs and aqua jet to terrorize anything not named chesnaught. the combination of splash plate + adapt is stronger than a choice band boost on its water attacks, doing 50%+ unboosted to shit like hydreigon/ virizion and 40%+ to impish nature mega aggron, and knock off still does a metric fuckton to fat waters, especially after setting up sd in their face. +2 aqua jet is pretty fucking strong too, ohkoing shit like av shao outright and just overall doing heavy damage to all faster targets that fail to resist it.

Gardevoir @ Choice Specs
Ability: Trace
EVs: 16 Def / 252 SpA / 240 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Moonblast
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt

i usually run healing wish on garde because it's one of the biggest reasons to run garde to begin with, but pdt came up the idea of 4 attacks and i was immediately sold on the prospect of being able to blast through more shit with extra coverage. we considered focus blast and energy ball as options as well, and i think i did have energy ball > tbolt on my "final" paste in our oras channel, but for some reason the paste i loaded had shadow ball + tbolt so ig that worked out for the better. ran modest nature because idt outspeeding the 257-283 speed range mattered much on this team
yes i am actually doing shoutouts for once!

Highways avarice for drafting the most dominant and fluid roster of the tour, from slots 1 to 12. how you two managed to pull that off was pretty fucking impressive, and it took me a solid few seconds of looking at our team to realize we would turn this cursed franchise around. it's fun as always teaming up with you two, and i'm glad i could be a huge contributor to another championship squad once again, despite flopping a bit during playoff stage.
pdt special shoutouts for building some of my teams and reining me in on some of my od builds that likely would not have worked; sorry for not trusting you on the safety goggles call on bat during semis :sob:. you were a fucking godsend to the team as a whole between all of our fairy gen slots, and you showed us why you will be an all-time uu great when all is said and done.
Fc it was really funny seeing almost everyone else think you were being fed teams when in reality you were busy cooking up broken ass iron hands teams the entire time and clapping cheeks with them. you carried the sv crew to a very respectable winning record during the regular season despite those slots being the most volatile at times, and your experience with rby was a unique boost to our overall team flexibility.
gum surely you had a much better time not having to steer the sandaconda ship this time around lmao. been fun teaming up again, and i won't be surprised if we land on the same team again in uupl or snake next year. p.s. i will remember the big game 11 clutch, even if partly because i thought sbs was going to go full wacko mode in the post-game chat.
Azick watching you play reminded me of how i played during uupl 2022, and it made for some truly epic moments on everyone's mentals. regardless, 5-4 is respectable, and i look forward to witnessing more of ur uu games if you do sign up for those future tours.
Mossy Sandwich goated 17th pick, no less. 5-1 as a sub who looked better and more confident from game to game, and my goodness you were impeccably great during the playoffs. don't sell yourself short now because you're now going to be on a lot of captain's radars come uupl time.
Luthier if i had to depend on someone on this squad in a life or death situation to fly a turbulent plane with the same skill level of piloting a pokemon team, you'd be my pick here because pdt would scare my ass to death before somehow landing the plane. quite simply, you're a master at planning and executing on the spot with the hands you're dealt with, and had that matchup vs attribute been 25-75 instead of 0-100, i'm confident that you would have clawed your way through that one too.
Nalorium ngl i should have contributed more than i did b/c i did still have some level of interest with bw (not as high as i did last year b/c i actually ended up removing my own bw signup), but you carried the bw slot admirably despite your record to end the season.
hs this obviously wasn't the performance you or any of us anticipated, but you were a goated teammate and you never let the foot off the gas pedal in the chats even after you subbed out. we totally should have went against everyone else's advice and loaded that mud shot wo chien team though, because i swear that shit lowkey woulda won that week LOL
Thiago Nunes the records sheet would tell me that you had a roller coaster season, but you were robbed out of like two of those games and, most importantly, you were THE CLOSER. cheers to the tour winning dopamine you gave to the entire team with the azumarill sequence, and i hope you still have the motivation to play in next year's tours.
Heysup we definitely expected you to have a winning season, but 8-1 while also taking on the burden of dpp support is fucking insane. loved seeing the shit you cooked up on the builder, and those gorex/xrn in-game interactions were some of the most unintentional :skull: moments that i've had the opportunity of witnessing lmfao.
vani safe to say, you rebounded big time from last year, and you've definitely garnered a lot more respect to your name again with your performance here. it was fun delivering the week 3 killshots, and i'm still very much in awe that you managed to finish your game before i did despite me starting earlier and loading offense.
YBW having you rby instead of fc improved our roster flexibility a ton, and you proved yourself well on this stage despite being relatively unknown to most others. our entire team chat going full backseat mode into living on a prayer mode into fucking mald mode during that game 3 was most certifiably the moment of all game chats, and i damn well hope the rng gods bless you better in your future rby ventures.
Celebiii Melt Gibson Mister McLovin y'all were goated supports who contributed immensely to the overall flexibility of this squad. to celebiii specifically, i hope we completely wiped away any memories of the disaster that was last season, and to all of you, i hope y'all get opportunities to get more match play in future team tours.

Time for me to do a post-tour report cuz these are fun to write up. There are maybe 3 teams in this dump that aren't completely outdated but like dlc2 is out and UU will look completely different come January anyway.

This tour was a bit of an up-and-down experience for me as I ended up finishing 4-4 which is a step up from the disaster that was UUWC and I didn't play that much SV UU in EPL as I spent a lot of time playing SM OU there. Granted, I was fairly motivated going into this tour, and figured that if I flopped again, I probably would never start in another UU team tour again so I felt like the pressure was on from day 1. But I honestly wasn't sure if I'd get a shot at starting before the draft. It was a bit of a tough scene to come up short in finals but oh well, grats to the Condas for winning UUSD.

I'll just give a brief recap of all the stuff I ran along with a short summary of the game. There is a second part to this though.
The team pastes are on the sprites.

Week 1 vs Ciro Napoli (L)
:alomomola: :goodra-hisui: :tornadus-therian: :hippowdon: :conkeldurr: :weezing-galar:
I wanted to bring a sturdy team in week 1 that could slow the pace down and cover a lot of offensive threats. Finding that balance between having enough of a sturdy defense and enough proactive pieces that can break was a weird balance. I had brought AV Goodra-Hisui as I was a major wishpass believer, especially with something as good as Mola in the tier. Conk seemed like an interesting idea given tera fight mach punch while it was guts boosted could do work. Weezing was a no-bullshit kinda mon and also gave me a hazard remover. Hippo was a means of resetting weather due to how much of a presence rain had. Testing had gone smoothly and I didn't feel too much pressure given the team won the week before my game. Torn with nasty plot and tera ground was an idea that I remember during the HOME meta that was cool cuz of a game where it could wreck a team.

I thought I played the game reasonably ok until the end because it turned out the sinistcha was tera steel and acid spray Hoodra didn't work on that. I thought it was a winnable game and I probably could've played the endgame way better. I thought the team was fine.

Week 2 vs Azick (W)
:Arcanine-Hisui: :Weezing-Galar: :Tornadus-Therian: :Alomomola: :Sandy Shocks: :Hoopa-Unbound:
It was an important week for me as I was trying to think of what could click for me post garganacl ban. Hisuian Arcanine intrigued me and it was an idea my good friend scum party/party gengar brought up and I decided to build around it. The Harc was originally jolly CB before I was missing some kills with tera normal espeed that made me think only adamant is worth it on CB Harc. my teammates were admittingly skeptical of the idea at first but eventually, they trusted me to go through with it. Shocks and Mola were pivot cores and taunt torn was pretty run-of-the-mill stuff cuz I needed cheese prevention. AV Hoopa I stole the spread from Rasche when he was helping my team out during EPL playoffs and I thought it was a cool idea. NGas Weezing was so I could negate regen strats which I thought was not a bad idea.

The adamant nature came in handy since I was able to get a roll that only cb adamant can get to kill meow from full and it ended up mashing in azick's team afterwards once it tera'd. Specs Hoopa was a major threat that nearly did me in, it was a pretty ugly game overall.

Week 3 vs Feliburn (W)
:Cresselia: :Tornadus-Therian: :Heatran: :Cyclizar: :Sandy Shocks: :Alomomola:
*Not linking the paste here cuz I stole it off the Ceruledges' replays and made some edits, I will note the edits I made
After seeing several people lose to fucking Cress the prior week, I decided that this week was likely a good time to bring it out myself as I had been using fairly slow-paced teams without a demonic wincon up to this point. However, I kinda hit a building block for cress structures before deciding to steal off of replays. It was a triple regen squad but the major changes I made was making heatran lefties over RH for actual longevity and tera grass, and making Cyclizar tera ghost.

I figured KSteve was likely building for Feliburn and I remember his builds typically losing to bulky setup sweepers that had longevity and he was known for doing his own thing usually. This was what ultimately prompted me to bring Cress.

As for the actual game, things were going well until I got spinblocked by tera ghost gastro pretty badly and I luckily had taken out the Weavile. Feli also inexplicably switched out his NP Boosted Torn in front of my shocks for some weird reason. I was forced to go for broke with Cress earlier than I wanted to and try to not get paraflinched too badly by Jirachi and stall out his Iron Heads. I was able to outlast it and win the game.

Week 5 vs Rasche (L)
:Torkoal: :Sandy Shocks: :Slither Wing: :Cresselia: :Thundurus-Therian: :Arcanine-Hisui:
I subbed out in week 4 since the week was decided plus I was kinda sick so it was a brief break. Week 5 kicked in and this was the first week with tier shifts in play so it might as well be a clean slate. I wanted to build Sun because I figured it would be a nice change of pace from what I had been running up until that point which were slow fat teams. I thought the playstyle had a lot of potential with its abusers and I was basically "building heat" with stuff like weather ball thundy. I tried :Victreebel: in earlier versions but Vic felt like deadweight at times. Hisui-Lilligant didn't feel as good either but I do end up building a version with that later on in the tour. Slither seemed cool but I regret not putting eq on it as I thought I had enough methods to deal with dirge such as shocks and Harc which was a pick I went back to and experimented with Adamant LO. Cress also seemed like a cool beneficiary of sun. I thought the game was winnable but ultimately I didn't get some plays correct in the endgame.

Week 6 vs Damien The Genius (W)
:Infernape: :Meowscarada: :Slowking: :Mandibuzz: :Hippowdon: :Goodra-Hisui:
I decided to go back to my roots but this time I wanted to run Mandibuzz which was a solid mon that was slept on as it could be an annoying pest. I also knew I couldn't bring cress again given QoB was probably gonna make sure the team passed won't lose to that. I had given Gondra a spdef mandibuzz team the week before and my teammate SBS did great with it in Week 1. I figured it was my turn to run Buzz. While I didn't love the options for rockers that we had in the tier, I decided to go back to Hippo because I needed a good check to treads and shocks. that could get rocks up versus it. I also included Slowking to offset the sand stream issue with CR which is why I called it "weather control". CB Meow was also a pretty good progress maker and tera dark seemed stupid so there was that. Infernape was a mon I liked using given it had a speed tier that let it threaten treads immediately barring booster and AV Hoodra allowed me to soften blows but still pose a threat. I thought the team had a good balance of defense and tempo control that allowed me to dictate the pace I wanted to play at.

hippo was able to force an early dragon tera from Drei which turned out to be specs and despite my opp having an amoongus, I was able to click Tera boosted CB Knocks with Meow fairly freely although my opponent probably could've played around the Meow better, but they were low on timer. Hoodra was a good call here too as it made amoongus hit the unemployment line and my Infernape ended up being a secondary wincon too.

Week 7 vs Leru (L)
:Skeledirge: :Bellibolt: :Mandibuzz: :Iron Treads: :Scizor: :Zapdos-Galar:
I wanted to keep it fairly conservative this week but honestly, it was kind of an annoying week for me to decide on something that I liked. I opted for something kinda simple in terms of defensive core like Bellidirge and I realized I had not used treads all tour and figured air balloon treads could be decent to offset the multiple ground weak mons I had. Gapdos and Scizor seemed like it could work well as a wincon for me.

I ran into Thundy-Incarnate during the match which was a sleeper threat that I thought I had the tools to handle but given the team was a bit on the slower side, it ended up being a bit of an issue as I had to use a lot of slack off pp on my Dirge and Quav also got a high roll kill on Buzz which was unfortunate as I had hoped to wear it down with FP before Buzz went down. It probably would've allowed me to get a workable dirge endgame. But I probably could have played the gapdos better.

Semifinals vs Mimilucha (L)
:Mamoswine: :Iron Treads: :Volcanion: :Tornadus-Therian: :Hydreigon: :Iron Hands:
Semis, I opted to go MamoTorn as I figured it was a good pairing where I could get it into the game and Volcanion was a mon that could also do some work. Drei I figured could do some work as a plot breaker and Hands was a generic last mon on this team that could maybe punch a hole or two.

Although my opponent loaded up Sylveon, I figured I had tools to play around it. What I wasn't sure about during the match was what the exact Hoopa-U set was which ended up being a bit of an issue as it turned out to be a bulky AV Mixed set. I think I needed to play for a crash flinch on the Ghost Treads and also not trailblazing first wounded out costing me as the treads set wasn't revealed yet. I did figure that it was tera ghost based on team comp. I needed to get multiple icicle crash flinches on the Sylveon and couldn't get that but I probably could've positioned myself better.

Finals vs FC (W)
:Tornadus-Therian: :Mandibuzz: :Slowbro: :Sandy Shocks: :Goodra-Hisui: :Weavile:

It was finals and I had some help with teambuilding. I originally thought I could do something like double CB with Harc and Meow with a sturdy backbone before Vivalos suggested a Punny team that had Empoleon, Sub Mamo and CB Meow, these 3 would be the mons I swapped out in the final product. I didn't really like empoleon as a rocker but I did like the idea of CM Slowbro although I would give it a major makeover and opted for an aggressive setter in Shocks, also went back to Hoodra but instead of AV, I pulled a page out of udongirl's playbook and opted for Specs as a breaker. Weavile was the speed control of choice here. Iron Hands was a potential problem but I got some testing in and figured it was a matchup that was playable if I was proactive. Tera Water Buzz was a suggestion Accel gave me as I was concerned about the Weavile MU in the original team and Tera Water Buzz seemed like a solid idea that ended up coming in handy. Probably my favorite team that I made.

As for the game itself, Buzz was able to get a lot of work in with Toxic and just being a nuisance in general. Harc was a major threat if it was CB and it probably would've been a great call given my building tendencies but it turned out to not be CB. I got greedy with the Slowbro and was hoping to force another slack off but it honestly made it closer than it needed to be. Relying on focus blast at the end was a bit of a :worrywhirl:. I ended up doing enough to get the W so I'll take it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This next section are teams that I made for Gondra to use when he got slotted into SV from Week 5 to finals. The first couple weeks I was mostly focused on my slot besides maybe giving some feedback on what our other SV people were working on. I'll note if any significant changes were made from how I imported the teams to what ended up being the final product. I'll mostly talk about the prep process and teambuilding here.

Week 5 vs Mimilucha
:Infernape: :Volcanion: :Mamoswine: :Mandibuzz: :Iron Treads: :Goodra-Hisui:

We opted for Infernape this week as it seemed like a strong bring into Mimilucha's teams as well as seeing a Torn set that ran no flying move in one of those replays. Building with Ape meant that Skeledirge was gonna need to be accounted for here and we opted for Volcanion as well as Mamoswine. Trapper Volcanion with tera ground also meant it could trap rotom-wash and completely remove it, lefties seems like a weird item choice on Volcanion but with Mandibuzz I think it was justified. Hoodra was actually Gooey here as it would be able to punish knock and also slow things down for the rest of our team. But really it was there as a secondary special wall that wasn't too passive. Mamoswine was Jolly which I regret because in the game it missed a kill on Drei somehow. Something worth noting was the Volcano being fire spin tect originally and had no earth power so it could rack up chip. We agreed to make it epower before the game just to improve our clod mu.

Week 6 vs Ninjadog
:Hydreigon: :Mamoswine: :Tornadus-Therian: :Iron Hands: :Iron Treads: :Slowking:

This game was probably best remembered for the infamous timeout that seems to almost always occur at least once in any UU tour this year. There isn't too much to talk about the actual game itself given the game ended much earlier than expected but Mamoswine did look good into his team here.

We honestly had a bit of a team crisis before Gondra's game and we tried to look at a couple different directions like paraspam or gmolt HO during the week. We also operated under the assumption that Ninjadog was prob getting passed something by QoB. I recalled that QoB teams were very vulnerable to getting udongirl'ed badly at times so any teams that was gonna be loaded was going to have specs.

I had also been working on a specs hydreigon team with MamoTorn pivot team that had multiple ways to get Mamoswine or Iron Hands on the team. I originally had Heavy Slam over Ice Punch for common tera fairy techs but we decided on Ice Punch in the end just for the Sinistcha and Amoong MUs. Mamoswine was originally LO but Gondra opted for boots last minute as well. LO is mainly for ice shard damage tbh if anything. Adamant Nature and Ice Shard were the main Mamoswine changes we opted for on the set as the game against Mimilucha the week before was too close of a call with Mamoswine lacking Shard. Adamant imo should always be the standard nature on Mamoswine since +1 TB Ada lets it outspeed Tornadus and Weavile. It also gives it more firepower and Shard is an insurance move. Specs Drei was also a nasty breaker that could punch holes too. I liked the overall matchups this team had in general as it felt like it had a fighting chance against most stuff it came across.

Week 7 vs Alkione
:Torkoal: :Sandy Shocks: :Arcanine-Hisui: :Lilligant-Hisui: :Slither Wing: :Tornadus-Therian:
Went back to Sun this week as I figured they were probably gonna run some basic offense or HO and Sun was a playstyle that could work well against that. I kept a lot of core mons from the Sun Team I made in Week 5 but made some major revisions such as Tornadus as the weather ball spammer and Lilligant over Cresselia with a Tera Fire to block burns from GWeezing and Dirge. I took a lot of inspiration from one of the SCL games where sun was used and made Lilligant chlorophyll with Adamant LO since it gives the team a very fast mon that outsped the entire tier at base under sun. The idea of Specs Torn under sun was that it was a good weather abuser in general and it gave me some volt-turn action that I could work off of with Sandy Shocks and something resembling longevity as Slither Wing ditched Morning Sun. I went back to Banded RK9 mostly as an insurance mon that was more threatening under sun. I thought that RK9 should be a must-have on UU Sun teams since it can break through a lot of problematic defensive cores that Sun teams might struggle against without RK9's presence. You could look at this as basically an upgraded version of my Week 5 Sun team that I made.

I will note that I made a couple of other sun variations too including one with Brute Bonnet over Lilligant and one that run Cress and Bonnet too.

Semifinals vs Justdrew
:Froslass: :Scizor: :Thundurus: :Iron Leaves: :Azumarill: :Iron Treads:
Prepping against Drew was interesting, to say the least, given this was also the same week when the replay outage happened which occurred midweek. Luckily, I had saved a visual scout so we weren't completely in the dark given we got scouts done on Monday. Me and SBS had discussed for a good bit trying to work off of the visual on what we could bring against him.

Based on my time spent with Drew in UUFPL where he was my manager, I knew he usually had a line of thinking that was closer to "abuse the brokens" and the scout lined up with that line of thinking. We realized he had zero Skeledirge usage and had little to no Amoongus usage. I also remember he got owned by Azumarill a few times in the tour but also that he was usually reliant on spinning his hazards away so ghosts could be problematic and that he probably hated using Mandibuzz or GWeezing. We opted for Froslass as a suicide lead + spinblocker that could annoy opposing Treads and Steel Beam Iron Treads on HO that took advantage of that with shit like NP Thundurus that threatened treads. Iron Leaves was filled out as we figured there was a chance he could bring something for Azu like an Amoong given he did lose to it multiple times leading up to semis.

Finals vs Azick
:Skeledirge: :Bellibolt: :Weavile: :Tornadus-Therian: :Iron Treads: :Azumarill:
Replays database was still kinda goobed so we worked off of limited data and tried to remember general building tendencies for prep. We figured cheese was a possibility for any of our SV Slots. In this slot, we opted to keep it simple and built around good glue mons like Dirge and Bellibolt. I originally had a Slowking-Dirge-Belli-Torn defensive core although it hacked immediate firepower so Vivalos suggested Azumarill over Slowking and CB Azu it was. It was probably one of the more conventional teams I made for Gondra that wasn't nearly as experimental as some other stuff that we passed throughout the tour

There are several people I'd like to thank along the way

Accel Indigo Plateau thanks for giving me another shot at starting in SV UU and for believing in me throughout the whole tour. I hope I can run it back with either one of you for another tour

starbitstorm for helping me fine-tune and work out some ideas each week, and for the countless hours we spent working out teams and discussing ideas. I think ur play was better than what ur record indicated and you'll def do better in UUPL, you were very much a big reason why we got as far as we did. I feel like this won't be the last time we team up either.

Nikebeamz you were an awesome helper from start to finish. Lots of Duolingo Chinese Learning was commenced. You were great to work with and I think you deserve a shot at being drafted in a UU Team Tour. Also good luck in UU Circuit!

LpZ Easter Bliss you guys were great, thanks for helping me with ideas and suggestions each week. Also, I'm sure Easter will get more chances to start in a UU Team Tour sooner rather than later.

Parpar although you had your struggles this tour, you were still awesome to work with. You'll definitely bounce back.

vivalospride Rasche thanks for helping us out during the Final Week whether it was testing or with prep.

Gondra you were super clutch each week in SV and always gave us a fighting chance. It was very unfortunate we couldn't quite bring it home. You killed it in SV and I didn't feel nearly as stressed out doing prep. Our SV Morale def went up after you swapped over from ORAS. I had a great experience teaming with you, we're already teaming up again in PTPL and hopefully, it's not the last time we team up again.

DrReuniclus god bless you, you were awesome to have around in our team chat for the entire season and sometimes joining our vc laddering sessions even if u didn't always say much in the VC.
