Victini @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- U-turn
- Energy Ball / Psychic / Scorching Sands

Alright, welcome back to matchmaking! After the absolute insta-kill of version 2, we're back! Starting off, our r1 pokemon looking for a friend, like the rest of us, is Victini! With a solid 100 base stats around the board and access to powerful moves, such as V-Create and Bolt Strike. Alongside the addition of Heavy-Duty Boots to make it a lot harder to wear down, Victini cements itself as a severe offensive wall-breaker in UU.

Submissions are due Sunday, November 22nd.
Good Luck!

Sturdy Man (Keldeo-Resolute) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Flip Turn

I really like this core, offensive and bulky. This is the beginning of an offensive wfg core victini and Keldeo being able to keep the pressure with flip turn and u-turn.
Keldeo can then easily threaten bulky pokemon like hippo and rhyp, brings dark, rock and water resistance while victini brings plant, fairy and shrink resistance.

Banned deucer.
lorax more whacks (Tapu Bulu) @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Horn Leech
- Close Combat
- Wood Hammer
- Stone Edge

You give passive healing support with Grassy Surge, take on most Water types with ease, and provide key resistances to Ground, Dark and Water.
You benefit from getting free turns via U-Turn pivoting and Victini's ability to U-Turn chip dragons and potentially lure Kommo-o with Psychic.

Late to the draw, but hey! Better late than never! Thanks to all our participants for their submissions, let's move on to week 2!

Volcarona @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Bug Buzz
- Psychic
- Quiver Dance

Being one of the more scary and controversial drops from our massive shift, Volcarona has cemented itself as one of UU's scariest threats. Boasting several great base stats, including 100 base speed and 135 base special attack, coupled with access to moves like Quiver Dance and Roost, all make Volcarona a very potent offensive mon. While it does fall short sometimes, that's nothing that a good teammate for Volcarona can't patch!

Submissions are due Monday, November 30th. Good Luck!

Alright, let's go wayyyy outside the box here.

:ss/golurk:
Golurk @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Earthquake
- Thunder Punch
- Poltergeist

Golurk is a funny guy, for a buncha reasons. It's main job is to make sure that the most common scarfed rock sliders/hard checks don't give our poor volca trouble. And it can do things!
  • OHKOing the ever-annoying Mantine with Thunder Punch, always!
    252+ Atk Iron Fist Golurk Thunder Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mantine: 376-444 (100.5 - 118.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

  • Shrugging off attacks from scarf terrakion:
    252 Atk Terrakion Stone Edge vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Golurk: 98-116 (25.6 - 30.3%) -- 1.3% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
    252 Atk Terrakion Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Golurk: 131-155 (34.2 - 40.5%) -- 53.7% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
    ~
And immediately threatening it out w/ recovery!
    252+ Atk Iron Fist Golurk Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Terrakion: 228-270 (70.5 - 83.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

2 drain punches will recovery about 40% of your hp while leftovers will bring back 12% over two turns, so you're really not taking much damage.
  • You can also mix things up a bit. A lo set with superpower means the amount of mons switching into your fighting move are sparse:
    -1 252+ Atk Life Orb Golurk Superpower vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Incineroar: 265-312 (67.4 - 79.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Thunder punch can also deal damage to steela now.
252+ Atk Life Orb Iron Fist Golurk Thunder Punch vs. 248 HP / 28 Def Celesteela: 257-304 (64.7 - 76.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery.
  • And if your opponent has the balls to run AV Goodra (a hard counter), Golurk can handle that obscure mon too!
    252+ Atk Golurk Poltergeist (110 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Goodra: 256-303 (66.6 - 78.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
That's about it. I wanted to shed some light on a mon that I literally haven't seen once so here you go.

:sm/zeraora:
Zeraora @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Plasma Fists
- Knock Off
- Close Combat
- Volt Switch

Zeraora forms an offensive core with Volcarona. Pokémon that Volcarona dislikes facing, such as Chansey, Suicune, Mantine, Nihilego, Primarina, Salamence, Gyarados and Rotom-H are all either KOed by Zeraora or crippled and worn down by one of its moves. Chansey, Salamence and Rotom-H all hate having their items Knocked Off, as it makes their job at checking Volcarona harder. Mantine, Primarina and Gyarados are all checks to Volcarona that are OHKOed by Zeraora's Plasma Fists. Nihilego is 2HKOed by Zeraora's Close Combat and a Knock Off followed by a Close Combat also KOes it, making so you don't have to switch out if they're Choice Scarf Nihilego. Volt Switch lets Zeraora pivot out of Pokémon like Jirachi, Kommo-o, and Tapu Bulu into Volcarona.

Alternative moves
- 4 EVs in Special Attack and a Naive nature let Zeraora 2HKO fully Physically Defensive Hippowdon with Grass Knot.
- Play Rough allows Zeraora to always 2HKO even fully Physically Defensive Kommo-o. I opted for Close Combat in its place because Volcarona already has Psychic.

Notes
-After one Quiver Dance, Volcarona OHKOes Thundurus-Therian with Fire Blast and 2HKOes it with Psychic. Thundurus-T can be a big nuisance to this core, though a Knock Off from Zeraora makes it unable to check them as easily due to entry hazards.

252 Atk Zeraora Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Nihilego: 214-252 (59.6 - 70.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Zeraora Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Nihilego: 173-204 (48.1 - 56.8%) -- 89.1% chance to 2HKO

252 Atk Zeraora Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Kommo-o: 220-260 (62.1 - 73.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

4 SpA Zeraora Grass Knot (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Hippowdon: 230-272 (54.7 - 64.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

4 SpA Zeraora Grass Knot (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 64 SpD Hippowdon: 212-250 (50.4 - 59.5%) -- 82.4% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Zeraora Plasma Fists vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Suicune: 194-230 (48 - 56.9%) -- 34.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (It doesn't 2HKO fully defensive Suicune but pressures it heavily)

+1 252 SpA Volcarona Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Thundurus-Therian: 333-393 (111.3 - 131.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+1 252 SpA Volcarona Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Thundurus-Therian: 182-215 (60.8 - 71.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Thanks to all the participants for their submissions! I was kinda waiting for bans to happen and meta to settle a little bit, so here's week 3!

Krookodile @ Chople Berry
Ability: Intimidate

Krookodile @ Choice Scarf

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake / High Horsepower
- Knock Off
- Close Combat / filler

After Hippowdon's rise to UU, Krookodile has established itself as one of the best Ground types in the tier. Sporting solid utility between a couple of sets, Krookodile can either run a Choice Scarf set or a Stealth Rocker set. What are some premier partners to the crocodile extraordinaire?

Submissions are due Tuesday, December 15th.

:ss/Amoonguss:

Amoonguss @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 168 Def / 92 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Stun Spore

With Amoonguss, you get a solid defensive core that bounces off most of Krook's weaknesses (water, grass, fairy, fighting), and also provides great status support with Spore/Stun Spore. Regenerator ensures you can get constant healing to continue to absorb more hits.

The reason to not go full max Defense Amoonguss is because you need more bulk against special attackers like specs Keldeo, which tear apart Krooks. With 92 SpD you are likely to eat 2 Icy Winds unless you get extremely unlucky:

252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Icy Wind vs. 248 HP / 96 SpD Amoonguss: 192-228 (44.5 - 52.9%) -- 24.2% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 96 SpD Amoonguss: 144-169 (33.4 - 39.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Meanwhile, all of the physical hits that would normally post a problem to Krook can get absorbed by Amoonguss, and it can threaten back with Giga/Sludge or Spore sleep:

252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Play Rough vs. 248 HP / 168+ Def Amoonguss: 132-156 (30.6 - 36.1%) -- 50.1% chance to 3HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Adaptability Crawdaunt Crabhammer vs. 248 HP / 168+ Def Amoonguss: 168-198 (38.9 - 45.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Life Orb Terrakion Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 168+ Def Amoonguss: 125-148 (29 - 34.3%) -- 3% chance to 3HKO
148+ Def Kommo-o Body Press vs. 248 HP / 168+ Def Amoonguss: 63-75 (14.6 - 17.4%) -- possible 6HKO

So, with Amoonguss, Krook has almost nothing to fear during the fight. Just load up with other partners for either balance or balanced offense and you are in the clear!

starting next week, i'll be implementing a voting stage to this project to hopefully revive this. the timeline for each week will look something like this:
  • 4 days (including day that week is posted) to post submissions
  • The other 3 days will be for voting
Winner will be announced at end of each week. Hopefully this makes this project worth posting in. Carry on!

Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Draco Meteor
- Mystical Fire
- Psyshock

This is a nice partner for krookidile because of how their typings synergize well and how they are both offensive presence that can mostly counter each others checks. Something that checks latias like celesteela, chansey, or sp def rachi, really dosent like krook spamming knock in their faces. Latias beats krooks checks like amoongus that already spored, tangrowth after its av been knocked, and skarmory. They form a nice offensive core for each other and help break each others checks.

:dp/tentacruel:
Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Sludge Bomb
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin

Tentacruel's typing synergyzes really well with Krookodile's. The former resists Fairy, Ice, Water, Fighting, and is neutral to Grass, while the latter is immune to two of Tentacruel's weaknesses in Electric and Psychic, while also being neutral to its weakness to Ground. Liquid Ooze is a big selling point in using Tentacruel, because it negates recovery from moves like Celesteela's Leech Seed, Tapu Bulu's Horn Leech, and Amoonguss's and Tangrowth's Giga Drain, making it so it hurts them back rather than healing them. Keep in mind that Choice Band Tapu Bulu's Horn Leech 2HKOes this set, so it should only be used as a last-ditch effort.

Tentacruel annoys defensive Kommo-o by removing its Leftovers and burning it with Scald while also not caring about Keldeo's and Azumarill's STABs. Sludge Bomb deals good damage to threats like Tangrowth, Tapu Bulu, Primarina, and Azumarill. Knock Off helps Krookodile to clean late-game by removing opposing items like Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers. Rapid Spin ensures Krookodile doesn't have to deal with annoying Spikes and Sticky Web. The 4 EVs in Speed and a Timid nature ensure Tentacruel outspeeds Max Speed Adamant Mamoswine to remove it from the field to prevent its priority Ice Shard from stopping Krookodile's late-game cleaning.

252 SpA Choice Specs Keldeo Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Tentacruel: 114-135 (31.3 - 37%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Tentacruel: 138-162 (37.9 - 44.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252+ Atk Choice Band Mamoswine Icicle Crash vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Tentacruel: 118-139 (32.4 - 38.1%) -- 2.2% chance to 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Tentacruel: 150-177 (41.2 - 48.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252 Atk Choice Band Terrakion Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Tentacruel: 336-396 (92.3 - 108.7%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

Thanks for the submissions everyone! Onto the round where things start to get competitive. For future reference, there will be a 4 day period for submissions and the other 3 will be for voting. Let's see how it goes.

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Play Rough
- Ice Punch / Knock Off
- Aqua Jet
If Lycanroc-Dusk is murder dog, then this is murder rabbit. Azumarill is one of the scariest threats in UU at the moment, being able to plow through a lot of pokemon between it's 2 stabs. While held back by it's low speed, it's strong enough to mandate an Aqua Jet resist on every viable team. Between it's Choice Band set for immediate power or it's setup based Belly Drum set, Azumarill is a potent UU pokemon that severely punishes any team that isn't prepared for it. But it cant do everything, sadly, so post some partners!

Submissions are due Saturday, December 22nd. Good luck!

Grimmsnarl (M) @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 132 SpD / 124 Spe
Careful Nature
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Taunt
- Spirit Break

Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off
- Play Rough
- Belly Drum

Dual screens are the easiest explanations to give, it gives azu pretty much 2x bulk, allowing easier belly drum set up while also preventing other screens, rocks, and status via taunt. Dual screen allow azu to setup in the faces of many mons due to how bulky dual screens make you. Azu once at +6 can sweep unprepared teams with its brutally powerful aqua jet, and its nuclear play rough to hit the mons that resist aqua jet, and knock off to hit the rest.
