soul clanger and cb azu form a wallbreaking core where azu weakens and removes some clanger checks like king, sylveon, chansey, and rhyperior. clanger in return smashes skarm and grass-types for azu, and both wear down steela for each other. subtox aegi serves as another measure against stuff like mew, tangrowth, quag, and slowking.

Reserving Primarina, Aegislash and Kommo-o!

:ss/primarina: :ss/aegislash: :ss/kommo-o:

sets in the mons, click em to get em!

A troublesome trio that defintely wasn't inspired by the thread art, nope! SubCM Primarina is an absolute menace, being bulky enough to eat up hits and set up Calm Minds to sweep opposing teams (once threats are gone, that is.) Aegislash is an admittedly an odd mon to build around in the new meta, due to it's weaknesses and struggle to make it onto the field, but it's a menace nontheless. Kommo-o gives us a great defensive rocker and a great Aegislash, Scizor and Chandelure switch-in (also zera if it isn't play rough). I'd make a team for this but i'm feeling a lil bit out of it so no team fo today :p

Scizor @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Bullet Punch
- Roost

Primarina @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature

Zygarde-10% @ Choice Band
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Thousand Arrows
- Outrage
- Extreme Speed
- Toxic

This core is a voltturn core and it focuses on bringing Zygarde-10% into the field using a more niche pick in Boots Primarina. Flip Turn allows Primarina to pivot out of some checks like AV Tang, Slowking, Chansey and Kyurem, while Psychic is there to help with Amoonguss. Scizor brings a grass resist that threatens a lot of Primarina's checks and helps Zydog with Tapu Bulu and Zarude. Zygarde-10% helps break most checks to both, such as Nidoqueen and Rotom-Heat, while Extreme Speed brings very useful priority against Zeraora, pivoting from Primarina and Scizor is almost always required for it to enter thanks to it's frailty though.

EVs: 252 HP / 24 SpA / 16 SpD / 216 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

This core focuses on magnezone trapping the steel types that trouble salamence such as scizor, skarmory, celesteela. Salamence in return gives a crucial ground and fighting resist for magnezone to fall back onto against pokemon such as krookidile, body press/cc kommo-o, etc. Primarina gives a back up check to those pokemon due to salamence lacking roost due to it needing the coverage, it helps by scaring out some of salamences checks such as hattrene, slowking, skarmory, scizor, etc. It can also setup itself and clean teams once salamence has plow through the pokemon that stop primarina such as rotom-wash, kyurem, nidoqueen, tapu bulu, etc. Magnezone is also here to pivot in its teammates so they can wreak havoc against an excepted Pokémon such as amoongus, rotom-heat, AV tang.

Kommo-o @ Throat Spray
Ability: Bulletproof

Scizor @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature

This is just a pretty standard screens HO core, really. Grimmsnarl sets up screens and Taunts defoggers and Spore-ers, giving Kommo-o and Scizor ample opportunities to set up.

Kommo-o @ Life Orb

Naive Nature
- Clanging Scales
- Close Combat
- Poison Jab
- Stealth Rock

Celesteela @ Power Herb
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Air Slash

Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Moonblast
- Psychic
- Scald

This core features excellent wallbreaking power. Kommo-o is the Stealth Rock setter allowing Celesteela and Primarina to get more KO's. Kommo-o also helps its teammates out by getting rid of Magnezone. Celesteela can Autotomize to be faster than the every unboosted Pokemon and get past faster threats such as Salamence. Meteor Beam is also an excellent move to deal heavy damage to Rotom-H, Zeraora, and get a Beast Boost, further raising its Special Attack. Primarina rounds out the core with excellent STAB coverage in Hydro Pump and Moonblast, covering Celesteela's Fire weakness as well.

Sets
Hatterene (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Mystical Fire

Exeggutor-Alola @ Eject Pack
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Draco Meteor
- Leaf Storm
- Flamethrower

Stakataka @ Life Orb
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Lonely Nature
IVs: 15 Def / 0 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

So this is basically a Trick Room core as you can see. Hatterene is the main Trick Room setter and Exeggutor is the backup in case the little witch can't set it. Hatterene's set allows it to hit neutrally everything except Crawdaunt and Slowking. CM allows you to set up in the likes of no-Specs Keldeo and Primarina. Exeggutor-Alola will set up TR in Pokemon like Rotom-Wash, Rotom-Heat and Slowking. The chosen moveset paired with its high Special Attack stat allows it to hit very hard to almost everything except Chansey, as well as making use of Eject Pack to keep momentum the first time you attack with your STAB moves. Stakataka is the main Trick Room abuser that can clean any game with hazards support. It can be offered by Stakataka itself or another teammate. The typical EdgeQuake coverage + a extremely strong Life Orb boosted Gyro Ball hits almost the entire metagame with a huge damage. The given spread is used to boost your Attack after a KO thanks to Beast Boost while having the maximum possible Defense. Toxic can be run over Stealth Rock if you need to cripple specific threats.

They cover their checks and counters each other: Hatterene and Exeggutor check the threatening Water- and Fighting- types for Stakataka, like Conkeldurr, Keldeo, and Rotom-W who also resist at least one of its STAB moves (extremely important in the Rotom-Wash matchup as relying in Stone Edge's accuracy is always not what you would like). With its extremely high Defense, Stakataka can get rid of the physical Steel-types that could threaten Hatterene when Trick Room isn't active, like Scizor lacking Superpower, Bisharp and Choice-locked physical Aegislash, as well as Nihilego as it threatens to OHKO with Sludge Wave too. Stakataka can also deal with some Fairy-types that threaten Exeggutor-Alola like Ninetales-Alola, Spirit Break Grimmsnarl and an opposing Hatterene. Exeggutor and Stakataka can also deal with Choice Band Azumarill with the correct predictions.

:ninetales-alola: :celesteela: :tyrantrum:

Ninetales-Alola @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Aurora Veil
- Freeze-Dry
- Encore
- Hypnosis

Celesteela @ Power Herb
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Air Slash
- Flamethrower
- Meteor Beam
- Autotomize

Tyrantrum @ Hard Stone
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Head Smash
- Scale Shot
- Close Combat

This is part of the Screens HO Tyrantrum team made for me by avarice in the teambuilding lab. Thought I'd throw it up since it features a Dragon you usually don't see (cough kommo cough)

Ninetales is our Veil setter with Light Clay and Encore and Hypnosis support. Tyrantrum sports a devastating Head Smash even without boosting, while Scale Shot lets you speed up while doing damage. Celesteela covers the Scizor weakness the other mons have while being a threatening sweeper in its own right.

With the voting phase over, it's time to announce this week's winner! Congratulations to Dorron for winning this week with their core of Stakataka/Hatterene/Alolan Exeggutor! Seems like a fun little TR core for sure. Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame ASAP!
Week 3

DarkIC Big.png
FightingIC Big.png

PDF cores are known to be extremely synergetic offensively. Psychic types remove Fighting- and Poison-types for Dark- and Fighting-types respectively, letting them free to spam their STAB moves, while Dark-types take care of Ghost-types for the other two. Fighting help Psychic by removing opposing Steel- and Dark-types too. This core also has good defensive synergy, with Dark being immune to Psychic and resisting Ghost for Psychic, Fighting resisting Bug for the other two, and Psychic resisting opposing Psychic-types for Fighting and resisting Fighting for Dark-types. You can choose freely between offensive or defensive cores due to these types's great synergy!

Here's a list of viable Pokémon you can use for this week:

You have until April 11th to submit your core!

:bw/Starmie: :bw/Mienshao: (why doesn't zarude have a bw sprite..)

I don't know how many times I changed the Starmie set, but here we are!

Starmie has been picking up quite a lot, almost all of it's sets have a use and it's speed tier and offensive prowess paired with a Life Orb and Analytic makes it quite frightening. Mienshao provides a physical breaker, with the ability to hit Fairy-types like Primarina, Azumarill, Tapu Bulu and Hatterene which would otherwise be problematic for our third friend, Zarude. Mienshao and Zarude provide momentum for Starmie, while also being able to bait in Pokemon that would hate to take a hit from Starmie, like Salamence, Moltres, Tangrowth and Rotom-H. These three together make for an excellent VoltTurn core with Starmie as your main breaker, slot in an Electric-type like Raikou, Rotom-H or a Thundy and you've got yourself a mighty fine offensive team!

Mienshao is the main breaker of the core, with its pretty wide coverage of cc as its stab and coverage of knock, u-turn, and poison jab. It has regenerator so it can form a double regen core with slowbro-g to allow easier pivoting. Slowbro-g makes teams easier to break with its 30% burn and poisons on pokemon such as salamence, moltres, amoonguss, tangrowth for easier breaking. Krookidile alongside mienshao give a dark resist for it to cling since many pokemon theaten it such as moltres-g, krookidile, and obstagoon. Krookidile can sponge those hits up due to intimidate and its decent natural bulk, it can setup stealth rocks for the team and pressure with knock to remove key items like boots, helmets for mienshao, and recovery options.
