Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Def / 180 SpD / 16 Spe
Calm Nature
- Discharge
- Roost
- Heat Wave
- Defog

Check
A very underrated mon in the SuMo meta but one of my favorite mons to use while laddering. Zapdos has a base stat of 90 for HP and SpD making it a very good check of Magearna. It can hit back with Discharge or Heat Wave causing Magearna to slowly be crippled and can Roost up from any attack it could been attacked by. Even though Fluer Cannon or Twinkle Tackle can do a lot, it will still still live without hax, as well as Fluer Cannon can lower Magearna's SpA.

Calcs?
Vs Zapdos
252 SpA Magearna Twinkle Tackle (195 BP) vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Zapdos: 262-309 (68.2 - 80.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (Likely chance it had been used already before Zapdos hopefully)
252 SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Zapdos: 175-207 (45.5 - 53.9%) -- 2.3% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
-2 252 SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Zapdos: 88-105 (22.9 - 27.3%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
-1 252 SpA Magearna Twinkle Tackle (195 BP) vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Zapdos: 175-207 (45.5 - 53.9%) -- 2.3% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Zapdos: 262-309 (68.2 - 80.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (Don't let Magearna actually get a kill or else this happens)

252 SpA Magearna Aura Sphere vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Zapdos: 36-43 (9.3 - 11.1%) -- possibly the worst move ever

252 SpA Magearna Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Zapdos: 73-86 (19 - 22.3%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Magearna Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Zapdos: 55-65 (14.3 - 16.9%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery

Vs Magearna
0 SpA Zapdos Heat Wave vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Magearna: 146-174 (48.5 - 57.8%) -- 94.1% chance to 2HKO
0 SpA Zapdos Discharge vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Magearna: 93-109 (30.8 - 36.2%) -- 53% chance to 3HKO eh

Victini @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- U-turn
- Trick

Victini as a check. Choice Scarf Victini outspeeds and OHKOs modest Magearna at +2 Spe. It is able to survive any Magearna's attack after Rocks, however it is safer to switch in while it is setting up Shift Gear or using a weak attack.

252+ SpA Magearna Twinkle Tackle (195 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Victini: 174-205 (51 - 60.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Magearna Fleur Cannon vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Victini: 116-137 (34 - 40.1%) -- 37.1% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Magearna Flash Cannon vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Victini: 72-84 (21.1 - 24.6%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Magearna Shadow Ball vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Victini: 192-226 (56.3 - 66.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Magearna Aura Sphere vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Victini: 48-56 (14 - 16.4%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Magearna Hidden Power Fire vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Victini: 36-42 (10.5 - 12.3%) -- possible 7HKO after Stealth Rock

252 Atk Victini V-create vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Magearna: 434-512 (144.1 - 170%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Nominating Specially defensive A-Wak
as a Hard Check

Marowak-Alola @ Thick Club
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Ability: Lightning Rod
Calm Nature
- Will O Wisp
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Punch
- Shadow Bone

This is a really underrated A-Wak set, as this one fully utilizes its great defensive typing. Marowak shrugs off any attack that isnt Shadow Ball, and cannot even OHKO at +1. Its a hard check because Twinkle Tackle is a 2HKO at +1 and Shadow Ball nearly snipes it.

4 Atk Thick Club Marowak-Alola Fire Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Magearna: 240-284 (79.7 - 94.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ SpA Magearna Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Marowak-Alola: 160-190 (49.3 - 58.6%) -- 98.8% chance to 2HKO

This is the voting result for this week.
Checks: Mega Charizard-Y (vsomani )/ Amoonguss (AbrarWasee ) / Dugtrio (zCheshrye )
Counters: Toxapex (Cheryl. ) / Chansey (GnralLao ) / Celesteela (HotFuzzBall )
Our Victim for Week 4 is Choice Specs Gengar.

Gengar @ Choice Specs
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt / Trick / Icy Wind

Choice Specs Gengar takes advantage of a tier with almost no Ghost resists and Pursuit user to spam STAB Shadow Ball. Sludge Wave allows Gengar to take out Tapus and Tangrowth which are popular in the metagame. Thunderbolt puts a big dent in Toxapex while Trick cripples passive Pokemon like Chansey.

EDIT: I just noticed that I have missed an entire page of checks so yeah, sorry for those involved. I will try to be more alert in the future. If you noticed this issue, please PM me and I'll add them in next time. Once again, sorry for the trouble.

Reserving Muk-Alola
(Will post in a couple of hours)

Muk-Alola @ Assault Vest
Ability: Poison Touch
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Atk / 16 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Pursuit
- Poison Jab
- Shadow Sneak

Counter: Muk-A has an incredible typing which, coupled with an Assault Vest, allow him to eat any hit from Gengar being Focus Blast the best option against it. Muk can always switch into Gengar and trap it with Pursuit unless Rocks and 3 layers of Spikes are up.
252 SpA Choice Specs Gengar Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 16 SpD Assault Vest Muk-Alola: 129-152 (31.1 - 36.7%) -- 69.7% chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Gengar Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 16 SpD Assault Vest Muk-Alola: 129-152 (31.1 - 36.7%) -- 98.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and 3 layers of Spikes
240+ Atk Muk-Alola Pursuit (80 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gengar: 368-434 (140.9 - 166.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Mawile-Mega @ Mawilite
Ability: Huge Power
Happiness: 0
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Sucker Punch
- Fire Fang
- Swords Dance

Mega mawille, counter.

All that matters for this situation is 248 HP and sucker punch. With HP investment, Mega-Mawille cannot be OHKOd by any of gengar's attacks (bar a crit, but SpDef investment can negate even that, and 200 EVs in SpDef lets you switch in base form), so it can switch in safely (shadow ball and focus blast both do about 70%) and OHKO with sucker punch against Gengar's choice locked attack. It also can't be tricked cause mega.

SpDef MegaMaw is viable. It avoids the 2HKO from powerful special attackers like ashninja, koko, pheromosa, and threatens all with an uninvested play rough ohko.

Scarf Tyranitar as a Check

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Superpower

Due to its typing and nice bulk boosted by Sand Stream, Tyranitar is one of the few mons in OU to resist both of Gengar's STAB moves and sponging them consistently, making it a nice switch-in to Gengar. Once Gengar is locked into any move not named Focus Blast (Tyranitar switching directly into it or after a teammate was KOed by Gengar), Tyranitar outspeeds and easily Pursuit-traps Gengar, OHKOing it if it switches out or 2HKOing if it stays in, dealing little damage in the process. If Tyranitar faces a non-locked Gengar, Tyranitar also has the option to use Crunch instead of Pursuit and OHKO Gengar, shoud it stay in and try to KO Tyranitar with Focus Blast.
252 SpA Choice Specs Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 66-78 (19.2 - 22.8%) -- possible 5HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Gengar Sludge Wave vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 78-92 (22.8 - 26.9%) -- 36.7% chance to 4HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Gengar Thunderbolt vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 98-116 (28.6 - 33.9%) -- 0.9% chance to 3HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Gengar Focus Blast vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 524-620 (153.2 - 181.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO (watch out for that!)

252 Atk Tyranitar Pursuit vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gengar: 204-240 (78.1 - 91.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after sandstorm damage
252 Atk Tyranitar Crunch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gengar: 404-476 (154.7 - 182.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
(this calc represents both of Pursuit's and Crunch's damage output if Gengar switches out or stays in respectively)

Reserving Mega Alakazam

Check
Alakazam @ Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Taunt

Mega Alakazam outspeeds Gengar due to its base 150 Speed and KOes with Psychic, but it can only enter via a double switch or VoltTurn due to its frailty.

252 SpA Alakazam-Mega Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Gengar: 468-552 (179.3 - 211.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Choice Specs Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 240 HP / 212+ SpD Zygarde: 153-180 (36.6 - 43.1%) -- 98.1% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Zygarde Thousand Arrows vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gengar: 290-344 (111.1 - 131.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
