ORAS PU Tubular Bells

An ORAS PU Stall team!
Quick introdution:
I'm Ranbu a PU voice and this is my first rmt feel free to criticize it.

fits well with Stall imo

I had a lot of hype when Altaria droped, so I wanted to make an stall with it. It counters Tangela, Ninetales, Simisear, Rapidash Simisage(a bit ._.), Gourgeist and helps me absorbing status and phasing the opposing team by using roar.
So I added Audino, another drop, who don't need to waste Wish all the time just to heal himself and have a bit less bulk than Lickilicky.
Finally my team needed rocks and something to counter Pawniard, so I added Stunfisk, who also blocks volt switch.
On a stall team, you need a hazard control or you can't keep switching on Rocks/Spikes, so I added Avalugg, to keep my field freed from hazards.
My team now lose to Nasty Plot Raichu and Toxic Spikes stacking, so Roselia seems a nice option to keep switching into that. It have reliable recover, don't suffer for wisps and puts spikes pressuring the opposing team.
My final slot needed to counter stoutland and at the same time switch on spin, so I can keep hazards on the opposing team. The best option to that seemed Gourgeist-Super.
Exeggutor was very threatening to it, so I changed Altaria for Zweilous.
ManOfMany pointed that Regice could break my team, so I changed Zweilous for Grumpig, with Signal Beam and speed creep for eggy, so eggy wouldn't be as threatening to it.

The mons:

Grumpig @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Whirlwind
- Taunt
- Psychic
- Heal Bell

My ev spread allows me to outspeed standard exeggy while still keeping the max special bulk as possible.
Whirlwind is nice against setup sweepers like Ninetales, Simipour and Duosion, Taunt assures that my opponent can't Defog with Vullaby/Pelipper, recover with Duosion/Clefairy or put hazards with Roselia/Probopass.
Psychic is his main STAB and Signal Beam lures Exeggutor, altrough don't OHKO it most part of the time(0 SpA Grumpig Signal Beam vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Exeggutor: 280-332 (84.5 - 100.3%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO)(edit:heal bell>toxic>for giving double edge to dino

Audino @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 232 HP / 252 SpD / 24 Spe
Careful Nature
- Wish
- Knock Off
- Protect
- Double Edge

Audino keeps my team health by using Wish and Heal Bell. My EV spread outspeed all 50 base pokemons in general, give it a Odd HP number and it is still divisible by 3(regenerator number).
Wish allows me to recover other mons HP, Knock off allows me to take Roselia's eviolite making it weak on late game, Protect assures that I will get the wish recover if needed and Double Edge>Heal Bell is for break Rotom-F subs and giving more damage against Roselia

Stunfisk @ Leftovers
Ability: Static
EVs: 184 HP / 252 Def / 52 SpD / 20 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Thunderbolt

184 HP makes that Stunfisk have the same HP as Audino, 252 def maximizes it Physical Bulk, 20 speed outspeed most part of Stunfisks and 52 SpDef goes to give him a bit of special bulk.

Stealth Rock is mandatory on it, Thunderbolt goes over discharge because I care more to power than for para, also I want to toxic my opposing in general. Toxic cripples opposing mons so I can keep pressuring him by switching and Earth Power hits Pawniard, a huge threat for stall.

Avalugg @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
- Recover
- Avalanche
- Rapid Spin
- Roar

Avalugg is my favorite spinner. Instant recover, with max spd investment is decent as a mixed wall(takes uninvested neutral hits very well) and his set is pretty standard;Recover is mandatory so he can come back more and times back to spin, Avalanche is his main spammable STAB, Spin is the reason why i'm using it, freeding my stall from Hazards and Roar helps me against Arbok, Sub Vig and also Pawn generally tries to set up on it.

Roselia @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 20 Def / 228 SpD / 12 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spikes
- Rest
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb

Roselia is one of the best mons of the tier, generally offensive teams have no hazard control or defog, which means that I can switch more and more. It also counters floatzel, checks choice locked Exeggutor and all other grass types from the tier but Jumpluff.
The EVs allows it to outspeed most part of the roselias, tank 2 LO Floatzel's ice beam after rocks and save a bit of defense. I prefer Rest>Synthesis so I can win most part of PP Stalls. The rest of her moveset is pretty standard.

Gourgeist-Super @ Colbur Berry>Leftovers to switch on Leafeon and Machoke better
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Leech Seed
- Synthesis
- Foul Play

Last mon is gourgeist, standard evs, I'm using Leech Seed>Seed Bomb because Roselia already have grass stab and Leech Seed forces switches while also taking a bit of my opposing mon HP every turn.

Altaria @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Roar
- Dragon Pulse
- Fire Blast

Zweilous @ Eviolite
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
- Rest
- Roar
- Sleep Talk
- Crunch

Hi Poliwrath , nice rmt

Currently goal is too focused on Exeggutor if it is not banned it will give many problems to your team Grumpig can Kill him but it will not be easy , since entering will receive Leaf Storm / Psyshock and Exeggutor can be exchanged , especially if it has to Hazards + Rocks of support, and strongly suggest that you use a defog the stop, Vullaby in my opinion would be a great choice , Avalugg is a good Spinner , but you already have Gourgeist and Stunkfisk to their physical defense , and is easily stopped by Misdreavus

This is a decent stall team, there are definitely things that you will just lose to but that's sort of accepted as far as stall in PU goes and you can handle most fairly standard threats well. I think Colbur Berry on Gourgeist is a necessity here for Machoke and Leafeon (plus it helps with pawn), those two put far more pressure on you than Stoutland which is the only thing that becomes significantly more annoying with the lack of Lefties. This is something I feel the team absolutely needs

As for the disgusting fire weakness this team has, it's hard to justify changing anything because you will start autolosing to other stuff. Like you really want to fit on Altaria which also provides heal bell so you can fit encore on Audino but nothing is really replaceable. I would fiddle around with Altaria > Roselia and Passho Stunfisk to try to lure Water-types and sorta switch in with Audino, but Earthquake Avalugg ought to help at least a little bit. While Roar is incredibly useful and I think it's better on 95% of teams, the inability to touch Monferno, Rapidash, etc is really obnoxious and swapping Avalugg's healthiness for the opposing fire should generally be an ideal trade for this team. Hopefully these two swaps help out a bit and I'd definitely test Altaria+Passho on fisk, there's a lot more I want to get this team to cover but it being stall it's easier to just hope they don't bring Simisage or something. Still, grats on what's probably the most successful stall team we have right now.

Hi Poliwrath nice team you got there. It's rare to see stall nowadays, and having built a stall myself in these past days, I realized how hard it can be to cover some offensive powerhouses in the tier, so it's pretty cool to see that this team can cover most of the metagame decently, so congratulations on that. There are some flaws that can bite you and be quite annoying such as the aforementioned Fire-types, especially Rapidash, and stall breakers such as Misdreavus, especially when running a Nasty Plot set. These issues can't really be fixed without changing the team's structure as stall has already little alternatives, and changing any of the Pokemon to fix these issues will cause some major others, so I will just focus on minor fixes and replacements to kind of polish up the team.

First of all I agree with Megazard's suggestion regarding trying out Earthquake on Avalugg to alleviate the pressure given to Grumpig by physical attacking Fire-types such as Monferno and Rapidash, also since sacrificing Avalugg won't be a big deal most of the time, and losing Roar isn't that relevant as you still carry Whirlwind Grumpig + you deal pretty well with setup sweepers given you also have Foul Play Gourgeist. Then, you could probably just move the investments in SpD and Spe on Stunfisk to HP, I don't see the utility of having investments in SpD when you carry 3 specially defensive tanks, and using Speed investments is pretty pointless too since other Stunfisks are fodders for your Roselia. Moving them to HP will give some more durability to Stunfisk against things it's a key check to such as Pawniard and Rapidash, which give some troubles to your team in case it perishes. Toxic is pretty nice on Stunfisk I agree, but you could try replacing it for something such as Protect or Sludge Wave: Protect gives Stunfisk an additional turn of Leftovers, helping it being more durable, and allows it to scout Choice Specs Exeggutor, which is important as Leaf Storm can weaken down Grumpig pretty easily, while Psyshock melts Roselia and Audino, so it is useful to reduce the amount of 50/50s you'll have to win when facing Exeggutor. Sludge Wave similiarly helps against Exeggutor, as it allows Stunfisk to bait it in and deal at least some damage to it, while still having the possibility to net a poison.

A pretty unorthodox and facultative way to fix the problem I thought about tonight, regarding Fire-types and being susceptible to Misdreavus and Exeggutor without leaving yourself too weak to Ice-types such as Regice and Rotom-F, would be to swap back Grumpig with Zweilous, and replacing Audino with specially defensive Flareon. Losing a Machoke check isn't too big as Gourgeist can already counter it handily, especially if it's running the Dynamic Punch set which is more common nowadays, and Flareon, while still being efficient as a WishPasser and specially defensive tank, is able to patch up the weakness to Ice-types left open when replacing Grumpig with Zweilous. Of course this change has some drawbacks such as losing of Regenerator and Flareon being weak to Stealth Rock which can be annoying, but I suggest you trying it out and see how it goes because it looks interesting.

I haven't read the other rates but after facing the team I noticed that you have a large weakness to things like subspilt Rotom-F and other set up sweepers that take advantage of mainly audino as it is very passive.

With that being said I'd recommend trying Encore>Heal Bell on Audino and then Grumpig can run Heal Bell>Taunt/Whirlwind. I think Taunt would be less useful than Whirlwind because you can phase out things like Duosion that can set up or if its a last mon situation you can encore them with audino.

Hey n.n. Really nice stall team ya got there. As i looked over your replays Pawniard is a big problem. Yes Gourgeist can wisp it but other than that you can't do much about it. Stunfisk si your pawniard check but it easily gets worn down, so I would like to suggest Stealth Rock Monferno > Stunfisk.

Monferno gives you Stealth Rocks while also Countering Pawn and having reliable recovery that stunfisk doesn't have. However this makes you a little bit weaker to psychic moves but don't worry my next change will solve this.

Like Golden Freddy's said Eggy is a huge problem and grumpig is your only way of killing it Eggy might get banned so I' not to worried about that if it isn't I recommend you to use the Vullaby Set Golden Freddy posted. If you add Vullaby you have a pyschic immunity + ground immunity which monferno really appreciates.

If you don''t like to defog away all your hazzards and you think grumpig is a solid resist to psychihc then i can make a small change to Avalugg which is Toxic > Roar. Avalugg can't rapid spin against bulky ghost types like Gourgeist-XL or Super and if Avalugg is poisoned it will get worn down fairly quickly. Toxic > Roar helps you deal with Gourgeist better and worn it down faster so you can freely rapid spin without worries n.n

Hope I Helped!

I've spent most of the afternoon playing with this team, and I must say I've really enjoyed it, got myself safely onto the ladder too. I played around with stall in DPP OU and a little in BW OU as well, perhaps it's just a new generation and a new tier, but there was something a little more fun about this team.

I actually quite like Stunfisk over something to more solidly switch into fire types, as it provides a nice switch into flying types (which you meet all the time with the double grass!) when rocks are up (squeezing Avalugg in with enough HP left to actually do something was a struggle at times) and always has something useful to do (unlike Ava). I actually have very few suggestions (and know way too little about this tier / generation to actually give any legitimate advice). I find the Grumpig is the least used pokemon in the team (I rarely use any move other than whirlwind), but it's the only safe switch in the Monferno and Pignite. I don't know if you've got a better choice when you're looking for something that can shuffle, provide the safe switching to the fire / fighting combo and provide a general purpose special wall.

Generally lead with Roselia / Stunfisk depending on which matchup I prefer, attempt to lay hazards early. Buffer with Audino whilst switching damage on their side, trying to corner their spinner. It's a crime that this tier doesn't really have a pokemon that can spin and do damage to Gourg. Even when I hit an opposing Avalugg, Gourg is my go-to.

Sorry that this is a little wishy-washy, I'm wary of giving too much blanket advice, as I only started playing ORAS and PU at about 4pm GMT today, but thought I'd stop by to say that I really enjoyed playing with it (ImranShakir, currently 409 on the ladder at 1203, with the team completely untouched from the import.) I challenge any new up-and-coming raters to sort out the midly annoying fire-weak (you have to handle nasty plot ninetales with extreme care) without upsetting the very delicate balance of this team.
