I've been laddering with a new team, to plenty of success. I recently made a rather major change to my team, which has been treating me quite well. That said, I ran into Koenraku under one of his alts, and expected just another fun match. However, this is one of those matches where everything comes down to one insignificant looking move, and shows just how a little thing can cause a big stir.

Seven Deadly Sins' Team:

Koenraku's team will be revealed at the end of the match.

grizzly adams's moves will look like this.

Leftovers will be removed.
Nicknames will be removed.
Scores will be shown after each KO.

Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause
grizzly adams sent out Infernape (lvl 100 Infernape ?).
Seven Deadly Sins sent out Aerodactyl (lvl 100 Aerodactyl ?).

I've been seeing a lot of Infernape leads recently. However, Aero beats them pretty handily. Most of them go for either Fake Out or SR first turn, so I decide to toss out a Taunt.

Aerodactyl is exerting its pressure!
Aerodactyl used Taunt.
Infernape fell for the taunt!
Infernape used Stealth Rock.
Infernape can't use Stealth Rock after the taunt!

Lucky me. My sash is still intact, and I get some free SR. If he stays in, I also get to EQ the hell out of his Nape. Win for me.

grizzly adams switched in Vaporeon (lvl 100 Vaporeon ?).
Aerodactyl used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!

And in comes my worst nightmare. This team hates Vaporeon, and is the entire reason Tentacruel is on my team. At the very least, I can Stone Edge the hell out of it.

Aerodactyl used Stone Edge.
Vaporeon lost 31% of its health.
Vaporeon used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Aerodactyl lost 73% of its health.
Aerodactyl was frozen solid!

And the gods have other plans. Aerodactyl does dent Vappy pretty hard, but gets Frozen. Seeing as how it's a suicide lead, I might as well do what I can with it.

grizzly adams switched in Infernape (lvl 100 Infernape ?).
Pointed stones dug into Infernape.
Infernape lost 12% of its health.
Aerodactyl is frozen solid!

No quick thaw, damnit. SR is coming, and I guess there's nothing I can do about it at this point. Might as well EQ and pray.

Aerodactyl is frozen solid!
Infernape used Stealth Rock.

But nothing. Oh well, this team doesn't care about SR, so I guess it's a push.

Aerodactyl is frozen solid!
Infernape used Fire Blast.
Infernape's attack missed!

Aerodactyl is frozen solid!
Infernape used Fire Blast.
It's not very effective...
Aerodactyl lost 27% of its health.
Seven Deadly Sins's Aerodactyl chills out.
(6-5)
Aerodactyl was defrosted!

And of course, the defrost just adds insult to injury. At least I get some free Toxic Spikes up now.

Tentacruel used Toxic Spikes.
Spikes were scattered everywhere!
Toxic Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!

Gengar can't OHKO me with anything, so I figure I'll throw down some more Toxic Spikes. I really want that Vaporeon dead.

Gengar used Trick.
Gengar obtained Black Sludge!
Tentacruel obtained Choice Scarf!
Tentacruel used Toxic Spikes.
Toxic Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!

Now THAT was unexpected. Oh well, Tent got its TSpikes down, and I actually like Scarfed Tentacruel. I guess that's just how it goes. Time to run to Heatran and pray for no Focus Blast.

Seven Deadly Sins switched in Heatran (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
Pointed stones dug into Heatran.
Heatran lost 12% of its health.
Gengar used Shadow Ball.
It's not very effective...
Heatran lost 20% of its health.

Lucky me. Focus Blast would have been a great move here, but maybe it's not packing it. My Heatran is scarfed, so I know I'll outspeed it. Fire Blast away!

Eff you, Vaporeon. At least TSpikes ensure that it won't be walling me for long. Rotom-H can threaten it here, so that's my switch.

Seven Deadly Sins switched in Rotom-h (lvl 100 Rotom-h).

Rotom-h lost 12% of its health.
Vaporeon used Wish.

Eh, to be expected. Protect is coming up, but I figure I'll Discharge anyway. What is there to lose?

Rotom-h used Discharge.
It's super effective!
Vaporeon lost 30% of its health.
grizzly adams's Vaporeon fainted.
(5-5)

Nothing. Vaporeon is down, which is a huge relief for me, as I hate when Vaporeon just walls the hell out of my Empoleon.

grizzly adams switched in Zapdos (lvl 100 Zapdos).
Zapdos is exerting its pressure!
Pointed stones dug into Zapdos.
Zapdos lost 25% of its health.

Rotom isn't all that bad a matchup for Zapdos. Plus, I've paralyzed a ton of them. More offensive versions of Zapdos just can't stand against Rotom.

Zapdos used Substitute.
Zapdos lost 25% of its health.
Zapdos made a substitute!
Rotom-h used Discharge.
The substitute took damage for Zapdos!

Wait, what? Ugh, that must be one hell of a bulky Zapdos. Since this turns into a big old Stall war, I'll skip a bunch of this.

Oh wow. Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat. If there's any message to be said for this, it's that you should always be careful who you Trick to. It might end up biting you in the ass.

Props:
  • Tentacruel for saving my ass. Seriously, Tenta was the star of the show, and it's been kicking ass for my team ever since I added it.
  • Zapdos for absolutely kicking my team's ass. I usually have no problem with Zapdos, but this Stall Zapdos absolutely smacked me
  • SD Scizor, for being way stronger than I give it credit for.
Slops:
  • TRICK: Seriously, that Trick to Tentacruel was the thing that changed the match, even if it didn't look so at the time.
  • Empoleon, for being handled so badly by me. I really need to realize just how hard SD Scizor hits, even with a BP 60 move resisted x4.
  • Heatran, for struggling to death. =(

grizzly defeated himself haha.

Nice story, but the colours were a bit overwhelming.

The first Zapdos v Rotom-H encounter was a bit boring, and you shouldn't have wasted your PP anyway.

Other than that, a good read! Good job.

That use of Scarfed Tentacruel was awesome. BTW, what's your spread for that Tentacruel? Normally it would have been OHKO'd by T-bolt if it runs the more aggressive spread.

Great warstory =). I dunno who said the comments were lacking, but I disagree. The comments are well written and to the point, and they help keep the story flowing. Very enjoyable read, well done!

I think the real message here is that you suck at not Surfing again on Empoleon :P.

You would have killed it anyway, nothing the opp had was faster, so if you didn't Petaya you could Sub on Infernape or whatever then kill Gengar and Infernape. Silly you.

Anyhow, it was awesome how your opponent screwed himself with Trick, haha. Nice story.

That was an awesome warstory :).

Quick question for your opp though, what was the EV Spread on that Zapdos? Fucking SubDos always rapes me so I might as well find out :)
