Tournament Rules:
  • General tournament rules and regulations.
  • OM Grand Slam VIII information.
  • The banlist for this tournament is the same as the NFE ladder on the Smogon University server of Pokemon Showdown, and can be found on Smogon's strategy dex.
  • Best of three, single elimination.
  • If metagame changes occur during the middle of a round, they will take effect in the subsequent round.
  • Battles must take place on Pokemon Showdown!.
  • S/V cartridge win conditions are in place; there are no ties.
  • Replays are required.

Been using all Magnemite but with more on balance instead of pure offense. 1st team was built around Crocalor which I didn't use so much. Magnemite + Dartrix basically covers Knock Offs mons such as Tink and Toedscool while being able to have some strong synergy such as Dartrix getting rid of hazards and Magnemite hard checks Mareanie. Tinkatuff isn't really needed here, but I wanted to have something that could cover up physical attacks such as Fraxure, as well as lure hazard removals since it has the perfect coverage to get rid of all of them. Mareanie doesn't need to be offensive, but I found myself not needing to have so much bulk, and being able to have some power really helps it not feel so passive. Missy is pretty much there bc it's probably the best if not all the truly only switch-in to Gabite rn, and Will O Wisp crippling Gabite ensures it won't be able to 2hko boots Crocolar, so Gabite has to respect it.

G2 has a similar pattern, but I used Magnemite for wanting to get rid of Tinkatuff to eliminate Encore. Girafarig is extremely bulky, yet very overlooked for its tricky way to support it. My Girafarig set could be much bulkier tbh, but I chose to have the full speed to eliminate being speed crept by Gabite, Taunt Missy, etc. Anyway, Tbolt for Mareanie and Quaxwell, which could tank and remove boosts or trap with Encore.
