The miss that cost the game(UU War Story)

Hi there! Time for a second warstory! This time it's a UU battle, the types of battles I prefer fighting.
My opponent is...somebody who goes by the name of Sei Noob

Rules: Evasion Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Sleep Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause

My team:

Sei Noob's team

Angel Diva sent out Granbull.
Sei Noob sent out Golem.
Granbull's Intimidate cuts Golem's attack.

Golem, eh? Unless it's CB Golem he probably won't hurt much under intimidation. I'm running a Bulk Up set here, but I don't want him to find that out yet. So, I make a switch to a ground resist.

Angel Diva switched in Solrock.
Golem used Stone Edge.
Golem's attack missed!
Solrock vs Golem(both 100%)

Ok, problem here, I don't have a rock resist. So I just hope Solrock is able to take the (assumed)banded Stone Edge as I burn Golem.

Solrock used Will-o-wisp.
Golem was burned!
Golem used Stone Edge.
Solrock lost 15% of its health.
Golem was hurt by its burn!
Golem lost 12% of its health.
Solrock's leftovers restored 6% of its health.
Solrock(91%) vs Golem(88%, burnt)

Ok, as long as Solrock is alive, that Golem ain't gonna hurt much now. Time to set up screens.

Sei Noob switched in Venomoth.
Solrock used Light Screen.
Solrock's light screen raised special defense!
Solrock's leftovers restored 6% of its health.
Solrock(97%) vs Venomoth(100%)

This team has a bit of problems handling Venomoth. I make the best move here and switch to a bug "resist". Luckily I have a screen up.

Angel Diva switched in Dodrio.
Venomoth used Bug Buzz.
It's not very effective.
Dodrio lost 44% of its health.
Dodrio(56%) vs Venomoth(100%)

With Light Screen, Bug Buzz kills in 3 hits as opposed to 2. My Dodrio is Adamant, so I think Venomoth might outspeed. Anyway, let's hope I can kill the moth.

Venomoth used Bug Buzz.
It's not very effective.
Dodrio lost 48% of its health.
Dodrio used Brave Bird.
It's super effective!
Venomoth lost 100% of its health.
Venomoth fainted.
Dodrio is hurt by recoil.
Dodrio fainted.
5-5

Angel Diva sent out Solrock.
Sei Noob sent out Altaria.

I'm not too sure what Altaria has in store for me. I guess the best thing to do is to smack it outright.

Sei Noob switched in Quagsire.
Solrock used Stone Edge.
Critical hit!
It's not very effective.
Quagsire lost 17% of its health.
Solrock's leftovers restored 3% of its health.
Quagsire's leftovers restored 6% of its health.
Solrock(100%) vs Quagsire(89%)

That's pretty pathetic for a crit. Still, I don't think I fear waterfall or any other attack from Quaggy, as Solrock is faster and has Will-o-wisp.

Sei Noob switched in Ninetales.
Solrock used Will-o-wisp.
Ninetales' Flash Fire boosted its fire power.
Solrock vs Ninetales(both 100%)

I'm not too scared of Ninetales. 2 of my team can wall her, so I switch to the counter that can take sleep attacks. My screen is still up too! Besides, I've seen almost his whole team.

Angel Diva switched in Grumpig.
Ninetales used Hypnosis.
Grumpig fell asleep.
The light scren faded.
Grumpig(asleep) vs Ninetales(both 100%)

My Grumpig is of the rest-talk kind. So, no worries, I'm staying in. I do hope her unrevealed pokey isn't Dark, coz' Grumpig has Psychic as her sole attack.

Ninetales used Nasty Plot.
Ninetales sharply raised its special attack.
Grumpig used Sleep Talk.
Grumpig used Psychic.
Ninetales lost 29% of its health.
Ninetales' leftovers restored 6% of its health.
Grumpig(100%, asleep) vs Ninetales(77%)

Looks like Ninetales decided to set up on me. I don't think Grumpig will mind that too much so I stay in. Hopefully Sleep Talk picks Calm Mind.

Ninetales used Nasty Plot.
Ninetales sharply raised its special attack.
Grumpig used Sleep Talk.
Grumpig used Rest.
But it failed!
Ninetales' leftovers restored 6% of its health.
Grumpig(100%, asleep) vs Ninetales(83%)

Sleep Talk failed that round. Ninetales' attacks are gonna hurt a lot now. I'll switch to my own Flash Fire pokey to halt the potential sweep.

Angel Diva switched in Rapidash.
Ninetales used Nasty Plot.
Ninetales sharply raised its special attack.
Ninetales' leftovers restored 6% of its health.
Rapidash(100%) vs Ninetales(89%)

Ok, she didn't attack, and now, I'm faced with a +6 sp attack Ninetales. I don't have a light screen up. and Rapidash doesn't run Hypnosis. I can only hope her other attack is Energy Ball, which I'm pretty sure can't OHKO.

Rapidash used Double Edge.
Ninetales lost 80% of its health.
Rapidash is hurt by recoil.
Rapidash lost 21% of its health.
Ninetales used Dark Pulse.
Rapidash lost 79% of its health.
Rapidash fainted!
Ninetales' leftovers restored 6% of its health.
5-4(Sei Noob)

Damn. Her last attack isn't Energy Ball. This means, Solrock and Grumpig won't be liking that. I send out my next best special tank, and hopefully Lapras isn't OHKO'ed by Dark Pulse.

Angel Diva sent out Lapras
Lapras(100%) vs Ninetales(15%)

Ninetales used Fire Blast.
Lapras lost 100% of its health
Lapras fainted!
Ninetales' leftovers restored 6% of its health.
5-3(Sei Noob)

Stupid secondary ice-typing. I wonder if I'd survive without Flash Fire boost.

Angel Diva sent out Grumpig.
Grumpig(100% asleep) vs Ninetales(21%)

Ninetales used Dark Pulse.
Grumpig lost 100% of its health.
Grumpig fainted!
Ninetales' leftovers restored 6% of its health.
5-2(Sei Noob)

I'm getting desperate at this point. I send out Granbull and pray that Fire Blast misses.

Angel Diva sent out Granbull.
Granbull's intimidate cut Ninetales' attack.
Granbull(100%) vs Ninetales(27%)

Fire Blast, please miss.

Ninetales used Fire Blast.
Ninetales' attack missed!
*jumps for joy*
Granbull used Earthquake.
Ninetales lost 27% of its health.
Ninetales fainted.
4-2(sei Noob)

Well, I suppose that's what you get for choosing Fire Blast over Flamethrower.

Sei Noob sent out Shiftry.
Granbull vs Shiftry(both 100%)

I've boosted Granbull's Sp def for good measure. Let's hope I can beat this tree-monster-thingy.

Shiftry used Dark Pulse.
Granbull lost 44% of its health.
Shiftry lost 10% of its health.
Granbull used Body Slam.
Shiftry lost 89% of its health.
Shiftry's paralyzed! It may not move.
Granbull's leftovers restored 6% of its health.
Granbull(62%) vs Shiftry(1%, paralyzed)

Wow, how lucky can you get, with 1% health left. Still, I paralyzed it, so now it's time to finish it off.

Granbull used Body Slam.
Shiftry lost 1% of its health.
Shiftry fainted!
Granbull's leftovers restored 6% of its health.
3-2(Sei Noob)

Quagsire, Golem, and Altaria left. If Altaria plays physical, then I still might have a chance to win.

Sei Noob sent out Quagsire.
Granbull(68%) Quagsire(100%)

Granbull used Bulk Up.
Granbull's attack and defense rose.
Quagsire used Yawn.
Granbull became drowsy.
Granbull's leftovers restored 6% of its health.
Granbull(74%) vs Quagsire(100%)

I'm not gonna risk a sleep on my pokemon right now, so I switch to Solrock.

Angel Diva switched to Solrock.
Quagsire used Earthquake.
Solrock's Levitate makes ground attack miss!
Solrock(100%) vs Quagsire(100%)

Burning time.

Solrock used Will-o-wisp.
Quagsire was burned!
Quagsire used Waterfall.
It's super effective!
Solrock lost 16% of its health.
Quagsire is hurt by its burn!
Quagsire lost 12% of its health.
Quagsire and Solrock's leftovers restored 6% of their health.
Solrock(90%) vs Quagsire(94%)

I still have no idea what set Altaria is running. I stone just in case Altaria comes out.

Sei Noob switched in Golem.
Solrock used Stone Edge.
Solrock's attack missed!
Golem is hurt by its burn!
Golem lost 12% of its health.
Solrock's leftovers restored 6% of their health.
Solrock(96%) vs Golem(76%)

Oh look, it's Golem. Nothing to fear, it's burned. I put up a screen just in case Altaria decides to be a mini-mence.

Solrock used Light Screen.
Solrock's Light Screen raised special defense.
Golem used Explosion.
It's not very effective.
Solrock lost 49% of its health.
Golem fainted.
2-2

Sei Noob sent out Altaria.
Solrock(53%) vs Altaria(100%)

Explosion does lol damage to Solrock. And now, Altaria...this is the time her moveset is revealed.

Altaria used Toxic.
Solrock's badly poisoned.
Solrock used Stone Edge.
It's super effective!
Altaria lost 50% of its health.
Solrock is hurt by poison!
Solrock lost 6% of its health.
Solrock and Altaria's leftovers restored 6% of their health.
Solrock(53%) vs Altaria(56%)

Altaria used Roost.
Altaria regained 44% of its health.
Solrock used Stone Edge.
Altaria lost 25% of its health.
Solrock is hurt by poison!
Solrock lost 12% of its health.
Solrock and Altaria's leftovers restored 6% of their health.
Solrock(47%) vs Altaria(81%)

Altaria is of the irritating, stalling type. I think it's time to cut short this battle.

Altaria used Dragon Claw
Critical hit!
Solrock lost 30% of its health.
Solrock used Explosion.
Altaria lost 81% of its health.
Altaria fainted!
Solrock fainted!
1-1

Angel Diva sent out Granbull.
Sei Noob sent out Quagsire.
Granbull's intimidate cut Quagsire's attack.
Granbull(74%) vs Quagsire(94%)

And now it's down to the finals: Granbull versus Quagsire

Unfortunately, I've got to cut the story short, because this involves many many more turns of stalling from Quagsire with Earthquake and Protect.
With Intimidate, 1 bulk up and burn, Quagsire fails to do more than 10% damage with Earthquake. Quagsire, however, managed to put Granbull to sleep with Yawn.
But eventually, Quagsire succumbed to the burn.
So, conclusion = Angel Diva wins!

Props:
Granbull, for beating Shiftry, and not getting hit by Fire Blast. Seriously, that one miss decided the match.
Solrock for burning things and letting Dodrio beat Venomoth.
Dodrio for killing Venomoth.

Slops:
Myself, for letting Ninetales almost rape my team.
Lapras was useless this match.
Grumpig, who also didn't do much, other than letting Ninetales plot 3x.
The fact that it was that one lucky shot that helped me to win.

My lesson learned: Save Grumpig for later and switch Rapidash immediately.

I'm enjoying UU much better than OU, and I just might post more UU warstories in the future. There's just so many interesting pokemon to experiment with.
So, c&c please, so that I can improve my future warstories.

PS: Do you like greying out the lefties recovery and shortening the sentences?(I shortened the lefties recovery to 1 sentence.)

Wow, ninetales is a bitch . . . I think you were taking it too lightly during the match. You should have hit some sort of panic button much sooner as it started to nasty plot. Leaving in a sleeping pokemon to rest talk a 1/3 chance of attacking (and a 1/3 chance of failing) while the enemy boosts its attack twice as fast as you could hope to boost your special defense (plus the danger of crits) is not a good idea. I mean, idling around with a flashfire boosted ninetales nasty plotting up on the other side . . . >.>

It's generally preferred to just cut out all leftovers recovery unless it's to show they have leftovers or if leftovers was important in some way.

Nice warstory btw

Wow! That really was lucky he missed Granbull. Personally, I'd switch to Rapidash or Lapras straightaway if I were you. Was Lapras physical or special?

Star Wars would have been awesome if they titled it, "Brother and Sister kiss; the Bad Guy is Actually the Protagonist's Father."

This should be a bad warstory. You let your opponent get a +6 Flash Fire boosted Ninetails out, and only won due to hax.

At the same time, you won which makes it awesome. Your opponent must have been mad.

Wait, so Misplay::Bad, Hax::Bad, Misplay::Hax::Good?
There's a gaping hole in your criteria for judging good and bad warstories.

That said, I'm still very much disappointed that any and all suspense was ruined barely halfway into the story because of the title. This story is a travesty.
