Arkaano sent out Aeropostale! (Togekiss)
NubKnightZ sent out Machamp!

Alright, I see a Togekiss. Togekiss' don't tend to be common leads although I do recall seeing a Lead Set on the site. I also remember making a gimmicky Lead Togekiss in the past which failed but I doubt this is that set. Fearing an Air Slash, I will switch here. I don't want to switch to Tyranitar because this may carry Aura Sphere. Jirachi is neutral to Aura Sphere and resists Air Slash, so I click Switch...

vs

Start of turn 1
NubKnightZ called Machamp back!
NubKnightZ sent out Jirachi!

The foe's Aeropostale used Air Slash!
The attack of the foe's Aeropostale missed!

Air Slash misses although it would not have done much to Jirachi anyway. I click Thunder Wave to support my team because I don't think Togekiss can hurt me. It also helps Machamp later if Togekiss decides to come in again.

vs

Start of turn 2
Arkaano called Aeropostale back!
Arkaano sent out SKY! (Celebi)

Jirachi used Thunder Wave!
The foe's SKY is paralyzed! It may be unable to move!

I paralyze Jirachi's 2nd Generation cousin. Celebi is guarenteed to be slower than me now, so I use Substitute to scout it's move or my opponent's switch. I could end up lucky and block a status. Even if he switches, I get a free move behind my Substitute and then I could paralyze his whole team that way.

vs

Start of turn 3
Jirachi used Substitute!
Jirachi made a substitute!

The foe's SKY used Leech Seed!
Jirachi's substitute blocked Leech Seed!

Jirachi restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

I did not expect Leech Seed, but I guess it's a good thing I Substituted. Now I know he's hopeless because I can Para-Flinch him behind a Substitute and heal back all my HP from the Substitute via leftovers.

Start of turn 4
Jirachi used Iron Head!
The foe's SKY lost 23% of its health!

The foe's SKY flinched!

The foe's SKY used Swords Dance!
The foe's SKY's Attack sharply rose!

Jirachi restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's SKY restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

Here, I failed to flinch him and he gets a Swords Dance off. What makes me curious is why he Swords Dances instead of trying to break my Substitute. Perhaps he's confident in not getting flinched for another turn? Not that he can sweep with a slow bulky Celebi...

vs

Start of turn 7
Jirachi used Iron Head!
The foe's SKY lost 23% of its health!

The foe's SKY used Baton Pass!
Arkaano called SKY back!
Arkaano sent out PaannzoN! (Hippowdon)

The foe's PaannzoN's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!

The sandstorm rages!
Jirachi restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

aghasjkgsajkgasgas... That's like 9% chance of happening. For people who like math, you have a 30% chance of making a move once you are paralyzed and being flinched with a 60% Flinch Air Slash or Iron Head. This happened in two consecutive turns which is 30%^2. (9%) He passes to a Hippowdon, but I still have my trusty

Substitute, so I'm going to try and flinch and wear it down.

vs

Start of turn 8
Jirachi used Iron Head!
The foe's PaannzoN lost 21% of its health!

The foe's PaannzoN used Earthquake!
It's super effective!
Jirachi's substitute faded!

The sandstorm rages!
The foe's PaannzoN restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

This is quite annoying, frankly. That's a third time in a row that Iron Head failed to flinch. Hippowdon isn't paralyzed, but it is still a 60% chance to flinch. 9% x 60% = 5.4%. What luck! I'm going to have to flee now because this Hippowdon is now dangerous, despite the fact it is probably defensively EVed. (Celebi Baton Passed a

Swords Dance)

vs

Start of turn 9
NubKnightZ called Jirachi back!
NubKnightZ sent out Togekiss!

The foe's PaannzoN used Earthquake!
It had no effect!

The sandstorm rages!
Togekiss is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Togekiss restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's PaannzoN restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

Here I go into Togekiss to try to flinch him from the special side while dodging an Earthquake. It's funny how both trainers don't get hit by their respective Pokemons' attacks. How that hell does a 12 year old dodge comets that fly down from the sky and giant tsunamis?

vs

Start of turn 10
Togekiss used Air Slash!
The foe's PaannzoN lost 25% of its health!

The foe's PaannzoN used Yawn!
The foe's PaannzoN made Togekiss feel drowsy!

The sandstorm rages!
Togekiss is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Togekiss restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's PaannzoN restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

How ironic. Both Jirachi and Togekiss are evil "Hax"ers and yet they are the ones being "hax"ed. He Yawns me, which I did not expect. I expected to be taken down by a Stone Edge, but I guess this is better. I don't want my Special Sweeper asleep, so I switch to Machamp incase he decides to spam Yawn and rack up Sandstorm damage. (Machamp has Lum Berry)

vs

Start of turn 11
NubKnightZ called Togekiss back!
NubKnightZ sent out Machamp!

The foe's PaannzoN used Stealth Rock!
Pointed stones float in the air around NubKnightZ's team!

The sandstorm rages!
Machamp is buffeted by the sandstorm!
The foe's PaannzoN restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

Instead of trying to phaze me with Yawn, my opponent decides to take the chance and set up Stealth Rocks to limit my switching. I know I am faster because Hippowdon has a 47 base speed and Machamp has a 55 base speed. I go for the Dynamic Punch because it has equal power to Ice Punch after factoring in STAB and Super-Effectiveness. The confusion will help me later on, making Dynamic Punch a better choice.

vs

Start of turn 12
Machamp used DynamicPunch!
The foe's PaannzoN lost 36% of its health!
The foe's PaannzoN became confused!

The foe's PaannzoN is confused!

Machamp lost 324 HP! (85% of its health)

The sandstorm rages!
Machamp is buffeted by the sandstorm!
The foe's PaannzoN restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

Someone named "Smokes" comes to watch the show and I fail to stop my opponent's attack again. (Flinch / Confusion) I'm starting to think that confusion may not be a 50/50 Confuse / Not Confuse ratio. I go for the Ice Punch now that he is confused because I want to conserve Dynamic Punch's PP. This will also hit any ghosts that may switch in.

vs

Start of turn 13
Machamp used Ice Punch!

Machamp fainted!
Arkaano sent out Aeropostale! (Togekiss)

NubKnightZ sent out Jirachi!
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi!

I get a Critical hit on the Hippowdon, but judging on the amount of attacks that failed to Flinch or Confuse, the slow and slacking hippo is bound to hit itself sooner of later. Machamp faints from getting sand in his eyes, causing him to trip and fall into quick sand. I send in Jirachi because he can levitate over quick sand and I know Celebi can't do anything to it and it can stop Togekiss.

vs

Start of turn 14
The foe's Aeropostale used Flamethrower!
It's super effective!
Jirachi lost 226 HP! (59% of its health)

The foe's Aeropostale is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Jirachi restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
Smokes stopped watching the battle.

Ooh, a surprise! Normally, I like surprises, but this one was a sneak attack. I'm guessing he either saved it to surprise me or he switch out earlier incase I was a Scarfed Jirachi. Luckily, Jirachi zaps Togekiss with a light beam of electricity, just enough to clip its wings a bit. The war between the two "Hax"ers commences!

Pointed stones dug into Tyranitar!

Darn. I was 1 flinch away from being able to survive another Flamethrower. Togekiss is paralyzed, so I feel safe to send in Tyranitar. Not that Tyranitar can't take an Aura Sphere anyway. Tyranitar is a boss and even Life Orb Mewtwo Aura Sphere has nothing on it.

Start of turn 17
Arkaano called Aeropostale back!
Arkaano sent out RedTube! (Scizor)

Tyranitar used Substitute!
Tyranitar made a substitute!

The sandstorm rages!
Tyranitar restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

Yes, I'm a Tyraniboah. Scizor comes in, hoping for a quick KO, but he comes in only to be confused and see what seems to a plush doll. Tyranitar, trying to camouflage behind a 2 foot tall doll, grins, waiting for Scizor's next move, waiting to spring his trap.

Start of turn 18
The foe's RedTube used Bullet Punch!

The foe's RedTube fainted!

The sandstorm rages!
Tyranitar restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
Arkaano sent out Shaakira! (Infernape)

Tyranitars normally don't hide in the first place and they are too big to in the first place. Scizor manages to spot Tyranitar behind the substitute and tries to dive in for the kill. The doll cushions the attack, leaving Tyranitar unscratched, who roasts the Steel Bug with a Fire Blast. Scizor returns into his Pokeball, still confused about the battle. Infernape is sent out and leaps around quickly, threatening Tyranitar who no longer has the safety of a Substitute.

vs

Start of turn 19
NubKnightZ called Tyranitar back!
NubKnightZ sent out Celebi!

Pointed stones dug into Celebi!

The foe's Shaakira used Close Combat!
It's not very effective...
Celebi lost 84 HP! (21% of its health)

The sandstorm rages!
The foe's Shaakira is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Celebi is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Celebi restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

A fighting move was bound to come, knowing that Tyranitar was a mountain and only brute force can break holes in one. Celebi's magic slows the barrage's momentum and he only takes a bit from the attack. Infernape pants in exaustion. Sadly though, the mammal was also capable of breathing fire, a talent seen at circuses. I also noticed that the monkey stumbled after it's attack, hinting that it held a Life Orb.

vs

Start of turn 20
NubKnightZ called Celebi back!
NubKnightZ sent out Swampert!

Pointed stones dug into Swampert!

The foe's Shaakira used Overheat!
It's not very effective...
Swampert lost 125 HP! (31% of its health)
The foe's Shaakira's Sp. Att. sharply fell!

The sandstorm rages!
The foe's Shaakira is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Swampert restored a little HP using its Leftovers!

I send in Swampert to resist the attack and to scout out what moves he has. Infernape's trick fails to fry what seems to be a fish. I see that he has Overheat, which means he is probably a Physical MixApe, which carries Thunder Punch instead of Grass Knot. Swampert eats Thunder Punches for breakfast, so I go and set up

Stealth Rocks.

vs

Start of turn 21
The foe's Shaakira used U-turn!
Swampert lost 64 HP! (16% of its health)

As, I said, I do. I don't lie. Infernape then mimics a Weedle, making strange buzzing sounds like an immature 9-year old and slams into Swampert. He is dazed in the process and tumbles backwards into his own Pokeball, forcing his owner to send in a new one in his place.

vs

Start of turn 22
NubKnightZ called Swampert back!
NubKnightZ sent out Togekiss!

Pointed stones dug into Togekiss!

Togekiss's health is sapped by leech seed.

On the other hand, Celebis eat Swamperts for supper, and my Swampert does not wish to be a Filet-o-Fish, so I send in Togekiss to Air Slash the Celebi. Togekiss also resists Grass Knot and Leaf Storm. Instead though, the flying psychic cabbage shoots seeds into my flying pixie-like Pokemon and saps some energy.

vs

Start of turn 23
The foe's SKY used Baton Pass!
Arkaano called SKY back!
Arkaano sent out DraaKo! (Flygon)

Pointed stones dug into the foe's DraaKo!

Togekiss used Air Slash!

The sandstorm rages!
Togekiss is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Togekiss restored a little HP using its Leftovers!
Togekiss's health is sapped by leech seed.

I did not expect Celebi to be faster at first, but I should have thought here because my Togekiss is not max speed either. He passes to a new Pokemon which I have not seen yet, Flygon. I expect Stone Edge here or possibly U-Turn, so I stay in, knowing I resist U-Turn and Stone Edge is actually a typo; it's real name is Stone

Miss.

vs

Start of turn 24
The foe's DraaKo used Draco Meteor!
Togekiss lost 112 HP! (29% of its health)

The sandstorm rages!
Togekiss is buffeted by the sandstorm!

Togekiss's health is sapped by leech seed.

He uses Draco Meteor and Togekiss is like "OMGASJKHGASJKGHEASAGHKJ" and gets pounded by a billion mystical rocks from the sky. Togekiss is disappointed though and thinks "That was it?" and roosts back the health it lost. I know Flygon can't really touch me now, seeing how little Draco Meteors did, so I believe

my opponent is going to switch. Thunder Wave it is.

My opponent is mean and lets his own Togekiss die, leaving me and my Togekiss to starve with no cabbage soup. Togekiss is glaring at my opponent, mad that it wasted it's efforts for the previous Air Slash. A friendly face comes back in and Togekiss is ready to take him on again.

This critical hit did matter. Togekiss is quite bulky and can take a Thunder Punch and then use Roost after. Flygon plays cheap and hits poor Togekiss on the head with an electric-boosted punch. How does a Ground Pokemon generate electricity anyway!?

Remembering that Flygon fled against Togekiss after Draco Meteoring instead of Thunder Punching gives me the hint that he is Choice Scarfed, like the majority of Flygons. I feel safe to set up a Substitute with Tyranitar again. He sends in Celebi, which is probably death fodder.

At first, I was confused on why he used Zen Headbutt, thinking it was a mis-click. It turns out not to be a mis-click because I saw him with Swords Dance, Baton Pass and Leech Seed earlier, meaning he only had Zen Headbutt. Tyranitar the Knight still has his shield and is ready to take on anything. Flygon steps up a third

time to challenge him.

Arkaano sent out Shaakira! (Infernape)
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Shaakira!

Tyranitar is a boss, so he steals Naruto's idea and focuses his chakra into 1 hand, swirling it into a sphere. He then goes into Sage Mode without the assistance of a teammate because he has a Substitute to protect him while he gathered natural chakra. Flygon tries to stun Tyranitar while he focused through the Substitute by shaking the entire ground but he fails to. Tyranitar then uses Focus Pu--... I mean, Ultimate Sage Rasengan on Flygon and destroys him. Just then, Tyranitar's Sage Mode runs out and he has to rest, calling for a teammate to fill in for him against Celebi.

It's not very effective...
Celebi lost 30 HP! (7% of its health)

I didn't want to call Swampert out because he was watching Teletubbi--... Err, I meant Pokemon. So I send in Celebi, knowing that I have the match because Infernape only has enough energy for one more attack. He rushes and throws a light punch at Celebi, who giggles in his face. Infernape stumbles and the victory is mine!

NubKnightZ won the battle!

MVP: Tyranitar

Tyranitar really helped me out in this battle. He managed to lure in and KO Scizor before it did any damage to my team and took down Celebi as well. He avenged poor Togekiss who got hit critically by defeating Flygon with a Ultimate Sage Rasengan.

Props:
- Tyranitar for taking down three of the opposing team members
- Opposing Togekiss for suprising me with Flamethrower
- Togekiss for walling Flygon
- My opponent for having the nerve to try and Baton Pass while being flinched
- Me, for winning the battle

Slops:
- Thunder Punch critical hit on Togekiss
- Iron Head not flinching three times in a row and Dynamic Punch not confusing
- Swampert for not doing much this battle although he was the last member alive with Celebi

Commentary: 5/10
Not much planning ahead (like two turns ahead), and the whining about your hax was irritating. Especially because not getting a flinch two times in a row is not the way to calculate it considering the chance to get a flinch was the same for about four times.

Battle: 8/10
Your opponent seemed to either be lazy or had some misclicks, like Draco Meteor against Togekiss (maybe he predicted a switch?) and Zen Headbutt with Celebi (he could at least try to BP a Swords Dance).

Format: 5/10
Percentages=must.

As someone using hax tactics, you have to realize that luck based strategies can be unreliable. You shouldn't complain too much about them.

Also, just a side note, a gen IV battle should probably go in Stark.

Umm, why is a 4th gen warstory in the 5th gen forum? Besides that, it was a pretty enjoyable warstory i suppose. Although i could have used some health percentages or something so i knew how much health each pokemon had. The commentary was good for the first half, but then you started talking weird.

7/10

Athenodoros

Official Smogon Know-It-All
Yeah, I read through it all, and not just because I don't have anything stupid to sig at the moment. My only comment is to learn some probability. Your complaining about hax was annoying because it was wrong, and besides, you should expect it with such a haxxy strategy and you also should not warstory a haxxy match.

They are called hax for a reason. Dont complain when they dont work out
But all in all wasnt a bad battle. There were a few misplays.
7/10

Nice warstory. Your opponent, however, had some trouble against TyraniBoah and made several misplays. I think he could have definitely used his Infernape's U-Turn more effectively in this match, especially on your switch to Celebi from Tyranitar.

Sprocket

P(n) = 1 - (1 - P(1))^n
aghasjkgsajkgasgas...
Actually, it's a 75% chance of making a move, not a 30% chance.

I hated this. Why would I want to see a warstory about a player using a strategy that doesn't require any skill?

Warstorys should have good plays, good tactics and good players.

Also, don't complain about lack of hax when you have the two haxiest pokes on your team...

Actually, the point is it's hax when the opponent moves because that's actually less likely than the opponent moving.
My point is I don't think it's warstory worthy when you use both Jirachi and Togekiss and keep trying to flinch the opponents to death. That doesn't need any skill and every single person can use that strategy to win some matches.

Your math is a bit off. There is a 60% chance to flinch, and only a 25% chance for paralysis to prevent a move. That means .40 * .75 = 30% chance to make a move.

I really liked the formatting, percentages aren't really necessary (although useful). The battle itself was pretty poor though and the commentary shows that there wasn't that much going on behind the moves.
