The round starts as both trainers release their pokemon, both starting to start the match off strong. Lilfut chooses their trusty Rattata, while akela sends out his/her Mantyke to start the fight. At the order from its trainer, Rattata rushes forwards, and then jumps, ambushing its aquatic foe from behind with its strong fangs. Wheeling around, Mantyke sprays a jet of boiling water from its mouth, leaving Rattata writhing in pain and flailing, obviously burnt by the scalding water. Rattata, seemingly enraged by the burn it has sustained, retaliates with a shocking bite from its hyper-powered canines, striking Mantyke in a critical soft spot, and leaving it flinching in pain. Rattata then vindicitively strikes Mantyke, who sprays yet another jet of boiling water at its foe. As this round draws to a close, both trainers seem to be equally matched, but can the next round change the advantage as quickly as it started?

In possibly the easiest round to ref in the game, at least that I've ever done, Rattata shoots forwards, hoping to get the drop on Mantyke with another super-charged ambush, but stops half way through, as it can't seem to tell where Mantyke will move. Mantyke then uses its agility to weave around, but Rattata has stopped its effort to attack, making this worthless on Mantyke's part as well. As Rattata stands, panting, it ponders why it couldn't attack, and is unable to notice that Mantyke has begun to glow, which floats from its body into a sphere of iridescant white light, before forming a glowing doll, which slowly stops its illumination, and stands, ready to take on the attacks it was called upon to take. Rattata then releases an electromagnetic pulse, but the wave of static is drawn towards the doll, which absorbs it, leaving Mantyke unharmed, who spits a natural toxin from its mouth at Rattata, who stumbles back, feeling the effects of its burn, and now poison, more then ever.

As the match ticks on, Lilfut sends out his/her Trubbish, hopefully to turn around the match. Trubbish starts by exuding a gaseous poison from the garbage within it, but Mantyke avoids the attack, perhaps by holding its breath, perhaps not, but either way Mantyke retaliates with a spray of boiling water from behind, which knocks Trubbish forwards a small bit. Trubbish then swings its arms, and as it does so intermitent waves of acid spray everywhere, although Mantyke shrugs off the attack like it was nothing, despite reducing its immune system's defenses against further attacks, and summons a mighty wave to vanquish Trubbish, sending it sprawling through the surf, and slamming it against the far wall of the arena as the wave dissipates. Trubbish then harnesses its inner poisons to form a cloud of acid rain above Mantyke, raining down venom on the manta, but it doesn't seem to hurt as bad since Mantyke dodged the gas. Mantyke then focuses a forceful jet of boiling water into a beam, striking Trubbish right between the eyes, scalding its face as the heap of trash whirls around, shrieking in pain as the burning fluid torches its eyes and face.
