Hello ZU Community! We're only a few days into the new tier, but why not get started on talking about the Pokémon we are fortunate enough to use. This thread will be used to post your very own personal Viability Ranking for SV ZU. This is a good way for new players to get a brief introduction to the metagame when starting to play and team build. Please read and follow the rules below to help keep this thread clean, but informative!

Personal VR 5/11/2023

Explanations

S

The only mon in this tier I think is actually broken please ban
As for why 80 speed is solid and having good bulk high special attack nasty plot and amazing coverage make this thing way too hard to switch into and even revenge kill

Very bulky with instant recovery no notable weaknesses and great setup and/or support options

It soaks hits from basically anything that isn't a psychic type spreads toxic sets tspikes and can sweep unprepared teams with acid armor body press

A near unstoppable breaker with sweep potential after a trailblaze, however it does rely on tera normal or else it would be higher

A+

Solid bulk and great speed along with encore and U-turn but it lacks a reliable recovery

Better than stonjourner in my opinion because of the better sped and movepool boasting headsmash woodhammer and sucker punch

Plays both sides of the hazard game with good bulk and even knock off

A huge threat with competitive and calm mind nasty plot or trick room but does compete with grumpig

A

Big threat with swords dance or as a late game cleaner has coverage issues though

Very strong with choice band and choice scarf sets are viable too

The best status absorber in the tier and is nearly unkillable if spikes are not present but

An alternative to sudowoodo with higher speed and physical stats but no head smash hurts and that sped is pathetic

Very fast and strong but has poor bulk relies on tera and can be hard walled by pincurchin or dunsparce, however the speed and strength make it worthy of A tier in my opinion

The best answer to electrode and a decent spikes setter in its own right especially since it has recover and doesn't have to hold an eviolite so it can ignore opposing spikes with boots

The only viable defogger and a solid offensive threat but has to run boots and has poor stats

Good defensive mon with regenerator and recover but has no offensive presence

Kinda the same story as above but it doesn't get toxic and is vulnerable to poison

A-

A very scary late game sweeper but requires a lot of team support

Scary offensive mon with protean and is the only good user of a fighting attack, but is let down by poor stats and a weakness to rocks

Probably the pokemon I overrated the most but it's still good at blanking stuff it just has no bulk whatsoever

Another mon I overrated but still a solid pick with intimidate and good stats

Not as great as others make it out to be since it gets walled by dunsparce and spdef pincurchin but still threatening if those two are removed or as a subseeder

Decent support mon or swords dancer just don't use sleep powder

Fast and strong with low bulk pretty simple and somewhat effective although being walled so easily really hurts

Great typing and bulk along with swords dance but sucker punch is highly abuseable and that speed is awful

B+

Another guts abuser but luxray is usually the better choice and fitting both is kinda hard

Can setup and be threatening but special moves spear right through it so I've never had a problem taking it out but I have seen it put in work

it has an amazing utility movepool including wish but has very poor stats

Decent swords dancer or choice bander but it doesn't have a reliable dark stab or high enough attack to compensate

fast and strong with ok coverage options but is hard walled too easily and has no bulk to speak of

solid lead with intimidate and stealth rocks but has low stats and a mediocre movepool

A solid screen setter but the tier doesn't have the crazy power levels to take advantage of it

A very bulky normal type but the lack of recovery hurts and it doesn't hit hard enough or fast enough to compensate

Ok swords dancer with solid bulk knock off and aqua jet but the overall low stats make it a bit outclassed

B+

Mediocre subseeder or dragon dancer

Kinda annoying with acid spray but lacks reliable recovery and is weak to hazards and status

Fast and strong but has no bulk and can struggle vs bulky mons like dunsparce

Nearly ok dragon dancer

Sets up sun which is viable but not amazing

Discount raboot

hard hitting but slow and kinda frail

mediocre offensive electric

Prankster haze and twave are nice but being this frail really hurts

decent scarfer but is walled way too easily

B-

decent defensive mon but is way too passive

same as slowpoke pretty much but has much worse stats and a good matchup vs electrode

Solid lead spiker is ok in the midgame

Amazing lead sucks elsewhere

just too slow and frail but it does hit hard

sandygast alterative

Defensive-ish version of gastly but not really that good

hustle is a double-edged sword that makes this mon usually not worth picking

yep slaking is bad but it does hit hard

Honestly stuff below this point isn't worth using at all so I won't bother talking about it


I couldn't decide where to rank them since they're just worse gothitelle or grumpig

S

Extremely versatile and annoying to switch into can also threaten sweeps and is potentially next on the ban list

A+

Can potentially blank many mons and is a very hard to switch into because of sludge bomb poisons

Very fast and has encore to shut down setup attempts can also deal with common defensive mons and can take a strong hit in a pinch

Basically just another girafarig or vigoroth but not nearly as good still great though especially with intimidate

An extremely powerful breaker and potential sweeper but relies a lot on tera

A

Can do well in either defensive or offensive roles and often both in a single match it has a great ability but common weaknesses and low speed

A very good status absorber and potential sweeper with dragon dance but has bad weaknesses low speed and can be haxed by its own ability

amazing tank sets t spikes spreads toxic and can sweep with acid armor but it doesn't have reliable recovery and is weak to common moves

Fast and strong with swords dance but can struggle to deal damage without tera and has low spdef

Has priority defog or brave bird and other support options severely struggles against physical walls especially the rock types

Has rocks and spikes along with great offensive options but has low spdef common weaknesses and poor speed

Very offensively threatening and has sub seed sets but has low bulk a rocks weakness and mediocre speed without a way to boost it

A-

Solid special attacker has low bulk and struggles against grounds

Fast and strong but lacks reliable dark stab and has pitiful bulk along with a rocks weakness

Solid spinner and spikes with great support moves but is very passive

Really strong and fast but lacks coverage or bulk

Has spikes and t spikes along with recover lacks notable traits outside of that

Decent late game attacker but has serious coverage issues

Mediocre swords dance user that has sleep powder
