Hello, the council would like to gauge your opinion on the metagame based on NDMPL. This lets us get a better understanding about how the playerbase feels about the current metagame and take appropriate steps with regard to tiering (if anything is tiered).

Take note that this doesn't guarantee that we'll have a suspect afterwards or something will be free (something might be free soon though) :bloblul: .

You have until April 21 to respond, and those with a Smogon account may respond.

Please respond to the survey here! If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a PM. Have a great day.

Here are the survey results:

With an average of 7.88 for everyone and 8 for qualified users, this shows that most respondents are enjoying the metagame right now (an improvement over last survey in fact), but of course, there is room to improve.

With an average of 7.85 for everyone and 8.06 for qualified users, the respondents generally find the metagame to be quite competitive (another improvement over the last survey). But of course, this is a number we'd like to see go up in the future to achieve a greater balance.

Now for the individual pokemon:
Ogerpon-W

With some developments in the meta, while the respondents generally thought that Ogerpon-W is still balanced, there has been a bit of decline in that train of thought (50-->41.2). We'll leave them alone as a result.

Gholdengo

1714141559265.png
Here we have a majority of respondents that believe gholdengo is balanced, however, not by such a wide margin. There still seems to be some discourse on gholdengo in the meta and thus, we'll keep an eye on it.

Hoopa-U

1714141777458.png
Now the one everyone is excited for (or I guess was or still could be). 50% of the respondents believe hoopa-u is balanced. With this being another survey where the majority have had this train of thought, we believe some action could be taken with it.....

Course of action

And to no one's surprise, there is a massive favour for the unban of hoopa-u. And thus, we'll be looking to unban hoopa u for the upcoming national dex monotype ladder tournament (is what I would have said a few days ago).

Z-less metagame
Now this open question asked about the z-less metagame feature in ndmono and how it may be perceived in the ndmono community moving forward. There are of course a variety of responses. The most common consensus was those enjoying this new format since it not only removed z-moves (a point of controversy earlier), but also allowed for use of new pokemon that weren't previous usable before. On the other hand, there are thoughts about this tier being a bit messy, or suggesting it being better to keep as an OM, or even this new meta closely resembling that of base sv monotype right now. In either case, there is support to continue with this new format moving forward, and of course, it'll receive further development and balancing as we go.

Inclusion of NDM in MPL
1714142294102.png

This is probably the most interesting topic of this survey. With the rise and growth of NDM as a tier and metagame, there has been the thought that it can be considered a separate monotype tier or generation in its own right, one that boasts some consistency and balance compared to other OMs. Thus, we asked the community here what they think about NDM featuring in the prestigious MPL. And here, the majority of respondents supported the idea of NDM being one of the main tiers that feature in MPL (in fact, there is no response here that is against the idea at all).

And that concludes this survey. Thank you all for participating and for your input. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us here or on the NDM discord. Have a good day everyone.
