STABmons Council has decided to Suspect Test Weavile!
The first great attribute of Weavile is its amazing combination of high speed and high attack, letting it out speed most of the un-boosted metagame. Next, Weavile has great offensive dual typing in Dark/Ice which results in a few resits, such as Urshifu-Rapid-Strike and Primarina, the latter of which can still be chunked down with hazard support. Weaviles typing granted access to various key moves, but due to its offensive nature, it generally always ran those with the highest damage, namely Glacial Lance, Knock Off (now Wicked Blow), and Ice Shard for priority, the last slot being dependent on whether it was banded or Swords Dance. So potent is its typing and power that it can 2hko Corviknights with either STAB when backed by Tera; this power is the principal problem, not all that dissimilar to the reason why Chien-Pao was banned from STABmons a year ago.
It is due to these qualities that Weavile is quite divisive being fast and powerful, but a defensive liability. It can sweep teams quite readily but faces various offensive challenges in the form of hazards and priority. As a result, it is being suspected so that the community can decide.
Requirements:
Requirements can be achieved by getting 75 GXE in 25 games on the STABmons ladder. In order to participate in the suspect, you must create a fresh alt (creation date no earlier than 1/5/2024) with the prefix STWEA at the start of the name. When you have obtained the reqs, make sure to post proof of your alt's record (generally a screenshot) in this thread, and if you wish to do so, you can also share your thoughts on the test here.
Voting:
Once the suspect period is over, everyone who has obtained reqs will be tagged. The post will then outline a process of blind voting, which will be clarified once the time arrives. For now, follow the above "Requirements" subheading to ensure that you have posted your reqs correctly. You must post on this thread in order to be tagged in the voting thread, however you do not need to include your vote on this thread.
A super-majority of 60% ban votes is required for Weavile to be banned.
TL;DR
-Weavile will be allowed on ladder
- The GXE requirement is 75 and the minimum game count is 25
- You must ladder on a newly-created alt using the prefix STWEA
- You must post your reqs in this thread, though the voting process will happen in a separate thread. You are not required to state your vote in this thread.
- The suspect test will conclude at 1/19/2024 at 11:59 PM GMT-5
- A ban vote of 60% is required to ban Weavile in STABmons.
