Vegetable Soup (Spore Amoongus + Calm Mind Celebi)

Importable version:
Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 148 Def / 108 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Spore
- Clear Smog
- Gastro Acid
- Leech Seed

Celebi @ Expert Belt
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 220 HP / 252 SpA / 36 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Giga Drain
- Psychic
- Earth Power
This is your standard Spore/Setup core for Grass teams.
Amoongus can reset opponent's stats with Clear Smog, block off pesky abilities like Poison Heal or Speed Boost with Gastro Acid, heal itself with Leech Seed and Black Sludge, and of course get that 100% Sleep status with Spore. Its Speed is maxed for full supportive potential, and its defenses are balanced out to give it good bulk.
Celebi's goal is to come out after Spore has been set up. Without any fear of threatening opponents, it can Calm Mind away until the enemy wakes up. Psychic is for standard type coverage, as is Giga Drain- which was chosen over Energy Ball for the extra healing. Earth Power is there to protect against Fire-types without having to switch and lose boosted stats. With high HP, SpA, and Spd stats, it can take hits without being held back in the process.

Can't wait to see what people make out of this! :)

Dual Screens Grimmsnarl + Dragon Dance Mega-Tyranitar

:grimmsnarl: :tyranitar-mega:

Simple concept. Mega Tyranitar steamrolls everything at +3. Double screens grants Mega Tyranitar an easier means of getting there, boosting it's already incredible defenses to create one of the tankiest sweepers in the meta. The pairing is a powerful offensive tandem that opens up usage opportunities for a number of Dark's niche but powerful threats such as Moxie Krookodile, Crawdaunt, and Galarian Moltres, all of whom are proficient cleaners able to make quick work of teams dented by M-Ttar.

- Dual Wingbeat

Golem-Alola @ Choice Band
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 28 HP / 252 Atk / 228 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake
- Wild Charge
- Explosion

The transition to National Dex gifted Mega Aerodactyl with the coveted Dragon Dance and a powerful, reliable, Tough Claws-boosted STAB in Dual Wingbeat. Because of these new tools, Mega Aerodactyl can greatly benefit Rock-type teams with a sweeping set capable of threatening many types Rock teams commonly struggle against, such as Water, Grass, Psychic, Flying, and Fairy. Since Mega Aerodactyl cannot do much versus the defensive Steel-types present in some of the aforementioned types, like Ferrothorn and Celesteela, trapper Alolan Golem is a perfect fit to go alongside it, locking them into the field and wiping them out. It also has Explosion as the fourth move to potentially open a wide hole in Pokemon like Hippowdon and Porygon2.

This offensive core opens up a lot of possibilties for innovative Rock-type teams to surge. Some points to be looked at are:
  • speed control (webs? scarf? priority?)
  • archetype choice (classic HO? maybe some new wave?)
  • a way to break through some non-Steel walls
  • hazard removal for Mega Aerodactyl (maybe)
I'll be interested to see which path is going to be taken by the builders should it be chosen.

Spectrier @ Ghostium Z

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Shadow Ball
- Substitute
- Mud Shot / Will-O-Wisp

Z-Shadow Ball OHKOs a vast majority of frailer Pokemon unboosted and the entire metagame bar Tyranitar, Mandibuzz, Drapion, and the Normal types that exist in the tier when it has a Nasty Plot under its belt. You even OHKO certain Dark type Pokemon like Hydreigon with +2 Never Ending Nightmare just to show how powerful this Pokemon is. Nasty Plot -> clicking Z-Move is a pretty reliable way to claim a free kill 90% of the time, not to mention even raw Z-Shadow Ball forces your opponent to sack a Pokemon in certain scenarios. The horse is probably as dumb as, if not more than Dragapult because of more or less the same reasoning: extremely strong boosted Ghost STAB in a tier where there just aren't many sturdy Ghost resists. Substitute punishes switching if the opponent wants to sack another Pokemon to Never Ending Nightmare. The last slot can be Mud Shot to hit Heatran, Drapion, and Bisharp after Never Ending Nightmare has been used or Will-O-Wisp for Pokemon like Mandibuzz and Dragonite.

Mega Zam acts as a fanatastic breaker on psychic with its ability to okho or 2hko the entire metagame after a np boost. Expanding force acts as a excellent stab especially in psychic terrain as it gives it ability to 2kho blissey at +2. Not to mention its excellent speed tier allowing to outspeed pokemon like mega gyarados +1.

Pelliper, while not being able to fit all moves is still able to treaten mons such as Mega-Venasuar, Swampert is the definitive swift swimmer with an immunity to electric, and the ability to pressure them with earthquake and switch out with flip turn. That's the key of this. It's bacically a hit and run and a smash and grab at the same tim, we got the main runner Pelliper, and the Swampert and Urshifuhas the ability to steamroll teams with a rain boosted assault.

:froslass: + :abomasnow:
We started with a blizzard froslass, so our first pick was obvious. Abomasnow provides the team with infinite hail thanks to the Gen 5 mechanic of Snow Warning. We decided a Specially Defensive set with Ice Shard and Leech Seed would work best.
:froslass::abomasnow: + :Kyurem-black:
Kyurem-black's Electric- and Dragon-type coverage is perfect for the water matchup. We decided to run a Choice Band set to maximize its wall-breaking potential.
:froslass::abomasnow::Kyurem-black:+:cloyster::Walrein::mamoswine:
The next 3 mons were all added at once. Cloyster is our bulky utility mon that can still hit hard thanks to Skill Link. We decided that a scarf Mamoswine set would be good to throw off our opponents. The increased speed allows it to finish off common threats on Water-, Fighting-, and Psychic-type teams that would otherwise outspeed it. Stealth Rock allows Mamoswine to bluff the more common Focus Sash set while setting up. Finally, Substitute + Protect Walrein is a Gen 5 Classic. This set allows Walrein to chip down opponents by spamming its namesake moves in hail.

Nominating the following:

Ninjask @ Focus Sash
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leech Life
- Acrobatics
- Night Slash

Swoobat @ Focus Sash

Delibird @ Focus Sash
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Spikes
- Destiny Bond
- Triple Axel

Essentially, Ninjask and Swoobat are fast, underrated cleaners that rely on Focus sash to setup. As such, they appreciate hazard removal and hazards on the opponent's side of the field, which suggests using rapid spin instead of Defog. Delibird is Flying's only Rapid Spinner, who also sets up Spikes to help Ninjask and Swoobat clean.

Hatterene (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Psyshock
- Draining Kiss
- Calm Mind
- Trick Room

Basically, this is a combination of counter-Pokemon for two of Psychic's most difficult matchups currently, being Ghost and Dark. We've seen tournament success with Hatterene vs Dark already, but Indeedee still provides Psychic Surge support as well as being the only reliable answer Psychic has against SubMind Spectrier, even if it takes multiple Shadow Balls to get the job done. Both male and female Indeedee accomplish this, but you can choose between the extra power and speed or access to Healing Wish support.

This project went into a bit of a lull while I focused on the Natdex Monotype CCAT, but it's time to start another teambuilding process! Submissions are now OPEN! The following cores will carry over to this week's voting:

pikachu<3's Ninjask + Swoobat + Delibird Flying
smub's Indeedee+Hatterene Psychic

Anyone may submit new cores until Friday, April 16th
