SPOILERS! Scarlet & Violet Leaks Thread - Data/Mechanics

stellar tera being exclusively an offensive mechanic to keep other teras in check might just be what the mechanic needed. typeless tera blast better not be a thing though.

Serebii dropped the truth on Stellar Tera-Type:
The Stellar Tera Type is the 19th Tera Type that can be found when going through the depths of Area Zero. This Tera Type doesn't change the Pokémon's weaknesses or Resisances but gives a one-time per type per battle boost to moves in standard battle, and constant in Tera Raid Battles.

With this Tera Type, Tera Blast is always super effective against Terastallised Pokémon but lowers the user's Attack and Special Attack.
Looks way less strong without any type change. It suddently looks like a Terapagos/Serperior-only toy.

I believe Tera Blast only hits another Pokemon who tera super effectively, and everything else neutrally. It honestly doesn't look too great outside of Contrary Pokemon abusing the stat drop (unless the mechanic bypasses that for balance reasons).
A big reason you'd Tera into a type is to use both offensive and defensively. Volcarona for example uses Ground and Water to tank Rock or Water move while also getting new coverage move for Pex and Heatran. With Steller you hit them normally and your attacks get a Gem like bonus. That may seem powerful but I would honestly rather potentially dodge a super effective attack while giving myself coverage than to have Fire Blast/Bug Buzz boosted once.

Is Freeze-Dry new for Lapras?

It can be a budget Iron Bundle now.
Honestly, the most interesting new tool for Lapras is now Icicle Spear. It's had Dragon Dance since forever, but it's never really been able to capitalize on the Speed boost with its physical Ice moves being only Ice Shard and Avalanche. Will Lapras ever be a strong offensive sweeper? Of course not. But its Attack is the same as its Special Attack, and Dragon Dance is now its best setup move.

Something like Dragon Dance / Liquidation / Icicle Spear / Earthquake (or Ice Shard) could be fun in ZU/PU

awesome gaming
aight yeah i gotta be honest and tell it like it is im pretty bummed out rn because the rematches are mostly a big ol' letdown. it's not all bad, there's some fun new pokemon additions to the teams and the teambuilding for the core blueberry academy trainers is as good as anticipated but other than that it's mostly the same without any items/evs still and that is sadge. also basically no eliminations from the paldeamon no use blunders list cuz the team changes that do exist seem to all use BBA dex mons. :c

Does anyone have a full list of returning Pokemon that are not already present in Scarlet/Violet & DLC1/Home transfers? Trying to find of list of what will be "new to Scarlet/Violet" after the DLC2/Home update drops.

Seems kind of meh. Fake Out is more reliable even if it does less damage.

That is how I understand it. Terapagos Stellar will probably be lost in future generations.
Pokemon Changes tab, check the bottom section, returning Mon.

Besides some new moves on Pokemon already introduced this gen like Psychics getting Psychic Noise or Weavile/Meowscarada getting Triple Axel, there isn't much. You can check the spreadsheet
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1c_322MP70wk__Jcf7AlMP9q1JA_M9szifAt06DPDwww/htmlview?pli=1#
Will change when I get the compiled movesets.

I know stellar tera seems meh and this probably pure copium but if stellar type tera blast only drops stats when hitting super-effectively, does specs pult improve? Gambit can no longer freely switch in and ting takes some welcome extra chip then.

Honestly Choice items seem to synergize terribly with Stellar tera. Your moves only get boosted once. If you use Shadow Ball, your Shadow Ball gets the Stellar boost once and you don’t get Stellar boost for all Ghost moves. You do get Stellar boost for Dragon moves, but only once as well.
There is a benefit compared to other Tera types as all your moves are boosted but only once, kind of like Gems in a way. You don’t get a perma boost to say Acrobatics as a Flying Tera type. It’s still be boosted but only once.

Btw anyone know what the deal is with Psychic Noise and Tachyon Cutter?
Specifically how they work against Poison Heal and Regenerator? Hatterene is either going to ruin Gliscor’s day or Gliscor’s entire life.
and Tachyon Cutter, is it like Dragon Darts in Doubles were it hits both targets?

Ugh... Why is everyone hyped about a 80 bp typeless move that only gets STAB once, again?.. Even on Serperior it's useless, because it's massively outclassed by Leaf Storm itself and doesn't solve Serperior's coverage problem, it'd rather Tera into some other type
