SPOILERS! Scarlet & Violet Leaks Thread - Data/Mechanics

It seems like GF picked only moves based on 'cutting' and not 'clawing'. So moves like Scratch, Fury Swipes, Dragon Claw etc. aren't included.
You might be onto something. I was going to counter argue with the description for Slash, which also mentions "claws", but it also says "or blades." So it seems that they added anything that slashes or slices, but also at the same time removed it if the only mention was "claws"!

Both Charmander and Raichu share a unknown field value of "9", not "6".
And yeah, I don't see any unlabelled fields in the personal table - so EXP rate/yield must be handled differently in these games.

I was going to suggest they didn't want overlap with Tough Claws, until I remembered that Tough Claws is all contact moves and that it doesn't act like Strong Jaw does but for claw moves

These games, sometimes....

From https://pastebin.com/KiGpcbAK here's Tauros
0128: Tauros: When it targets an enemy, it charges furiously while whipping its body with its long tails.

dunno why wooper's isnt here
You know, it's a shame that there aren't any Dex entries for form changes. I thought it was neat how the gen 7 & 8 pokedexes did that. A way to sneak in some extra flavor.

...The Tauroses really could have used it in particular.
Some dex entries for forms

The pastebin don't include any dex entries for forms, but they do have them. Regular Wooper isn't found wild in Paldea, so it doesn't have a Paldea dex entry. Tauros does however, since it can be found in the game.

It feels like Someone and GF Said H Samurott is what Samurott should have been like to begin with and made it happen.

Are Golisopod, Ninjask, and Greninja ,and aceelgor in this game? I want to make a team of 3 feudal lords

KIngambit, Samurott, Golisopd as the lords and accelgor, Ninjask, greninja are their ninjas.
I think only Greninja is in this game. Can't find Ninjask or Golisopod or even accelgor when I look through the leaked mons.

Yeah, I was disappointed too...

so what is up with the tauroses in this game? i haven't really heard anything about them and i'm confused why this game has 3 different forms. are they distributed around the region or something? is there being 3 forms a reference to some sort of cultural or biological thing? even gameplay-wise they just have the same stats as tauros but mildly bulkier and more min-maxed. i was pretty excited for a regional form tauros but i'm just weirded out that game freak went in this direction.

I think they are just a reference to cattle breeding and specialisation more generally. Water is clearly a yak/water buffalo, and fire seems more like it’s a long horn/highland cow variation. It’s largely a world-building thing.

They also gave all Tauros their own 90 power signature move that breaks barriers and changes type depending on the forme of Tauros. Though I'm guessing usually the only Tauros that will want to keep this move is normal Tauros (I assume it is boosted by Sheer Force, making it better than Body Slam), since the other formes have stronger reliable STAB moves (Close Combat, Flare Blitz, Wave Crash).

They really wanted to celebrate Tauros for this Spanish-based region.

Does anyone have a list of all the Pokédex categories for the new Pokémon? Like how Bulbasaur is the Seed Pokémon, Pikachu is the Mouse Pokémon, etc.

i'm a big fan how even the pokemon themselves also don't know where babies come from

They're REALLY going hard in the "reproduction is magical" :zonger:
I also like the theory that the little ones are not actually babies, but things the bigger ones "built" using the scraps they gathered in their previous form and then brought to life, hence why they all look like stuffed toys.

I'd also say we can be more sure than ever that pokemon don't reproduce via conventional sex. They probably just link energy and create an egg that appears out of nowhere, kind of like how Solgaleo and Lunala were seen creating a Cosmog.

Brick break isn’t affected by sheer force since breaking screens is a primary effect, so I don’t see why these would be.
Dang, well at least Body Slam is still available.

Really weird that they included Population Bomb in that case.
J

Beat up requires an entire team of high Atk mons and if any of them die then the move becomes pretty weak.
I see Thunder Wave and/or Super Fang being run on it to cripple switch-ins.

A set of Population Bomb, Tidy Up, Super Fang, and Thunder Wave can devastate any non-Ghost/Electric and Ghost/Ground in some way or another.

Wide Lens to guarantee the 10 hits.

It feels like Someone and GF Said H Samurott is what Samurott should have been like to begin with and made it happen.
It's a shame Game Freak didn't extend that generosity to Normal Samurott :tymp:

Unsure if this is worth bringing up just yet because of Stall having been nerfed severely, we don't have a functioning meta yet due to the game not being out yet, and Dudunsparce itself likely not going to be OU, but I discovered this when messing with Dudunsparce's moves and stats on the calculator with a theoretical bulky specs wallbreaker set (max HP and Special Attack):

252+ SpA Choice Specs Dunsparce Boomburst vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Toxapex: 174-205 (57.2 - 67.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Dunsparce Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 88 SpD Corviknight: 306-362 (76.5 - 90.5%) -- 25% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Choice Specs Dunsparce Boomburst vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 339-400 (88.7 - 104.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Choice Specs Dunsparce Boomburst vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Dragonite: 280-331 (86.6 - 102.4%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Dunsparce Boomburst vs. 252 HP / 120+ SpD Assault Vest Slowking-Galar: 142-168 (36 - 42.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

These were just taken off of bulky OU mons that have made it to S/V, and I'm aware the majority of these are Boomburst damage calculations. Other times Fire Blast was just not needed since Boomburst is so powerful on its own. Was thinking of pairing this with Shadow Ball so you're not walled by ghosts.

In fairness, the only time we see an egg being made in the series is when Arceus goes deity mode and creates one in front of us lol.

I like to imagine that the Day Care workers are being genuine when they say they don't know where they come from, because they only ever pop up when Arceus decides it's time for another one :psywoke:

For those interested:

Evo items are story-progression locked. - Delibird Store.

Mints are apparently unlocked after the 6th Gym.

For those of you interested in the mass picnic breeding (kinda nasty if you ask me) -

Mirror Herbs are in the city with the Water Gym.
They are available from the start assuming you can get there. Get a Ghost-type to travel with.

Destiny Knots and Everstones are also Delibird items.

Apricorn Balls are apparently raid rewards too, but we've also heard of other places they show up, either way, they look kinda late.

Source: Look, I went there so you didn't have to. :row:

Y'know... What are the odds of shops getting datamined? Now that most Comp. Items are there, it would be interesting to know where they're at... :wo:

Look, they literally let the players watch the whole process this time. The biology teacher doesn't know either. The day-care crew had made a living out of these for decades and didn't know either.

Eggs might as well be paradoxes too. (Especially with the whole inheriting moves from babies that didn't even hatch thing.)

The only problems with the new Tauros is that the 3 new forms replace Sheer Force with Cud Chew and there doesn't seem to be any reason to use the pure Fighting one over the other 3, it doesn't even have any interesting moves the other new forms don't. It even learns fewer moves than the Normal one.

i see, that's actually a pretty cool spin on regional forms then. didn't think of it like that.

sheer force only boosts moves with percentage chance secondary effects usually, so i think it probably won't be boosted by sheer force sadly. tbh i'm kinda sad the paldean tauroses lost sheer force for cud chew, neat ability but i don't think they'd be very good at using it.

During the time when nobody was sure if the last Tauros was Fighting/Water or Fighting/Ice, I did some calcs and Ice/Fighting Tauros with Sheer Force and normal Tauros' stats can OHKO Landorus through Intimidate, OHKO Heatran with Close Combat (iirc), and 2HKO Slowbro with Freeze-Dry.

Not only did they go with Water/Fighting (which is fine, but adding a yak Tauros couldn't have hurt), they also removed Sheer Force for... Cud Chew... and switched his Attack and Speed.

Shame what those Tauros forms could've been had they kept Sheer Force :psycry:
