PRO EDIT: Link to post 316

HELLO FRENDS! Today we will begin everyone's favorite project: the CommunityCreateATeam. For those of unaware of what this is, let me give you a brief summary (which was shamelessly stolen off of Pocket over 2 years ago :] ).

Stage 1: We are going to start by picking a Pokemon (and set) we are going to be basing the team around. This does NOT mean the Pokemon has to be the late game sweeper, it means the team will be built around that Pokemon, whatever role it plays. This thread is for nominating Pokemon to be added to a poll. After a couple of days (probably around one-two days, until enough Pokemon are in the poll (around 10)), I will select which Pokemon are going to be in the poll that will be posted after we decide on a list of Pokemon. This means you have to convince me, and others, that your Pokemon is worth being put in the vote.

Stage 2: We select one Pokemon that works well around the selected one.

Stage 3: We select Pokemon that work well around our Pokemon and fit the team style and test it.

Stage 4: We fine-tune the team based on our experiences in test-driving the team on the ladder!

So now that you have the basics down, let me provide you with some examples of what our brilliant masterminds and predecessors (even though half of you are the same smh) thought of before!

Now that you have all seen the wonderful work of members past, it is time to embark on our own expedition to create the best team possible. Now, usually the community has to pick a "forgotten wonder" in the tier, but because the tier itself is relatively new and also because these teams usually turn out ridiculously terrible, I have decided to let you pick any Pokemon in the tier. Feel free to pick something uncommon if you wish. Also, make sure to explain your nomination. AND NO JOKE NOMINATIONS! Also, you may only vote once. Remember, the suggestion with the most votes wins!

Pangoro @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 224 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Parting Shot
- Crunch
- Poison Jab
- Hammer Arm

Pangoro is a really cool and underrated Pokemon in the meta game right now, sporting a 4x resistance to the Dark-type, an extremely high base 124 Attack Stat, and access to the exclusive Parting Shot. This set allows Pangoro to function as the ultimate support mon for a sweeper, doubling as a wall breaker and a pivot that pretty much has memento affects on the opposing mon (okay not quite but -1/-1 is still good). The EVs here outspeed 4 Speed Cresselia, and also hits it for a minimum of 60% damage allowing it to deal with weakened CM Cresselia. These are obviously open to change if we feel that Pangoro should be bulkier. Lastly and most importantly never say no to Panda.

Yanmega @ Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Atk
Rash Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- U-turn
- Giga Drain

This gen's tier shift caused some very good mons to drop into RU, one of the most notable being Yanmega. Yanmega boasts an impressive 116 Special attack stat, with two fantastic abilities to make the most of it with. Speed boost, while good in it's own right, makes Yanmega miss some important kills. However, Tinted Lens effectively makes anything that would otherwise wall Yanmega irrelevant.

Cofagrigus @ Leftovers
Ability: Mummy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball
- Rest
- Mean Look

This set is amazing. It has swept countless foes. Now that sleep mechanics have changed back to allowing Rest to a be a viable method of recovery, Cofagrigus can use this set to benefit greatly from opposing walls. Cofagrigus can use this set to set up on many walls that can't touch it. With Mean Look, they are unable to switch out, meaning that Cofagrigus can set up to +6 and decimate the rest of your opponent's team. There are many foes that this set can set up on, including Alomomola, Aromatisse, and Registeel. If your opponent thinks that they can get by with leaving in one of their walls that can't hit hard enough, they will be hit by Mean Look and it will be very hard for your opponent to recover. Rest allows Cofagrigus to recover its health so that it isn't worn down by walls, and it also means that it can't be killed by Toxic, burn, or any other status. Shadow Ball is overall the best STAB option, but it obviously cannot touch Normal-types. If anyone watched the BW RU SPL matches, you could see that Gothorita was used in a similar role quite often. This set is just as effective; while it is not as easy to trap specific foes, it is much easier to sweep the rest of your opponent's team. This set can require a bit of support, but is otherwise very good, meaning that it is an ideal Pokemon to build the CCAT around.

Reuniclus @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Focus Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Psychic/Psyshock
- Trick Room

Reuniclus, who used to be OU(in BW) is one of the more underused threats in XY RU,being able to turn fast offensive teams against their own speed with Trick Room..It's gigantic base 125 special attack stat helps it mow through weakened teams, and is surprisingly bulky. It also has acess to one of the best abilities in the game,Magic Guard which protects it from entry hazards,Toxic stalling, and burn stalling. It's coverage is quite decent as well, being able to beat many threats such as Kabutops,Magneton,Toxicroak,Mega Bannete, and Mega Abomasnow.Reuniclus can require some support(to weaken the opponent's team),but overall Reuniclus is an amazing Pokemon in RU and a good choice for the CCAT.

lol@CM (Meloetta) @ Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Relic Song
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- U-turn

A really underrated, Meloetta is a very good late game cleaner and wallbreaker with its amazing LO STAB 120 BP move off 128 Attack. Melo is also very unpredictable, with sets ranging from Calm Mind to Assault Vest and easily punishes mispredicts. Relic Song is a really interesting move, not only giving Meloetta a nice retyping, but also has a cool sleep chance boosted by Serene Grace. After the transformation, the singer has quite the amount of options. Now being the fastest relevant (lol Electrode) non-boosted mon in the tier, it can unleash a powerful Close Combat that not only destroy offensive mons, but also is even strong enough to 2HKO bulky physical walls such as Alomomola after SR + 1 Spike.

252+ Atk Life Orb Meloetta-P Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Alomomola: 231-273 (43.2 - 51.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock, 1 layer of Spikes, and Leftovers recovery

Knock Off is really nice coverage, hitting Ghosts and Psychics really hard, along with getting rid with items. U-turn is the final move, and is really nice to getting out of a sticky situation and pivot.

Yeah, imo, being the fastest relevant unboosted mon AND really powerful at the same time is just really nice. Sure, it can't transform vs Ghosts, but they are very unreliable vs regular Melo anyways. And it may be walled by a few mons, namely Gligar, but it is just a very nice starting point to any team.

While this is a great nomination, I'd like to advocate for Gothorita (which preforms a similar role as you mentioned) for the sole reason of being aware of all of our potential options.

Gothorita @ Eviolite
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Rest
- Psychic
- Taunt / Shadow Ball / Thunderbolt

Compared to Cofagrigus, this thing has both advantages and disadvantages. First of all, Gothorita has better overall bulk than Cofagrigus when holding an Eviolite, and Knock Off isn't really a big issue since you won't be switching in on things that carry it in the first place. Second of all, Gothorita, like you stated, can trap opponents easier than Cofagrigus, due to not having to rely on the opponent staying in. This also allows frees up a moveslot, allowing more versatility, which is probably Gothorita's biggest advantage. Taunt eases setup by deterring status (which decreases the need to waste turns using Rest), while Shadow Ball or Thunderbolt can increase its attacking options, something Cofagrigus can greatly benefit from. However, Gothorita has lower special attack than Cofagrigus, which might hamper its sweeping potential; however, this is of little relevance after boosting up to +6. Although minor, Gothorita also cannot run Leftovers like Cofagrigus, though I'm unsure of the extent of the significance of this. Furthermore, Mean Look Cofagrigus might appear as "more exotic" and includes a surprise factor for the opponent, while Gothorita's role is fairly linear, and therefore might not be suited to build a CCAT around. However, this can also be looked at the other way. Gothorita almost gets no attention this time around, and is defeinitely an interesting pokemon to consider to base the CCAT around.

Again, I just want to bring this option to the table. Let me know what you guys think.

Banned deucer.

Zoroark @ Choice Specs
Ability: Illusion
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Night Daze
- Flamethrower
- U-Turn
- Extransensory

Zoroark is definitely one of the coolest pokemon, RU or otherwise, but it is in RU that it finds its ideal environment. It can outspeed nearly everything, wallbreak like nothing else, and allow for some fantastic mindgames (heavily weighted in favor of the zoro user).

Zoroark needs a single turn to accomplish its goal of eliminating/crippling a threat to a sweeper on your team. Let's say that you have zoro disguised as emboar. Your oponent could switch to something like rhyperior, but then they are getting 2hkod by night haze. They could predict the zoroark and switch to something like hariyama, but they are still taking a specs night daze (that may even lower their accuracy!). Or perhaps they switch to something that deals with zoroark, and you actually did have out emboar! Simply having zoroark causes the opponent to play incredibly carefully the entire game as they never know when it is in play. On or off the field, zoro is a threat.

Best of all, if the illusion trick doesn't work for you, you still have a generic strong, fast special attacker to fire off specs stab moves.

But not only is it a threat, it is one that is interesting and different with plenty of options for exploration and experimentation, making zoro a prime candidate for CCAT.

Alomomola @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SAtk
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Scald
- Toxic

This is a pretty standard Alo set from gen V, and saw a lot of use in NU. While Alo never officially shifted tiers, it grew in popularity during this most recent round of SPL. It can wall half the meta and pass MONSTER wishes to it's teammates. Alo may not be an undiscovered threat, but is certainly worth exploring how best it can be used in it's niche.

There are some really good submissions so far but I may as well try my hand at one anyway.

Hitmonlee (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge
- Mach Punch

Hitmonlee is a really strong offensive 'mon that was improved a lot by the Knock Off buff, since now it can continue destroy worlds with High Jump Kick while being able to also to threaten the Psychic and Ghost types that were formerly able to switch into the move. It also has priority and a decent speed tier to go along with its stellar coverage, meaning it has most things an offensive threat would want. While the power Hitmonlee packs is pretty amazing and there isn't much in the way of walls that can actually take a Hi Jump Kick unless they resist it while nothing really likes switching into Knock Off anyway, Hitmonlee is really frail and really hates to deal with Fairies and certain Pokemon such as Alomomola that use Protect. Hitmonlee can be really devastating with the correct support, and I feel like the support needed to make such a frail yet strong Pokemon work (unlike something like Sharpedo it can be outsped by non-priority by quite a few things) at its best would be interesting to look at.

EDIT: I realize Hitmonlee is often used as a spinner nowadays but having its offensive possibilities looked at more would be better for the first slot as a first round spinner is a little awkward. Its still pretty good without Rapid Spin.

I'm going to nominate a set which I really enjoy using, and have mentioned in the Good Cores thread:

Slurpuff @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Belly Drum
- Play Rough
- Return

Quite simple really, it uses Belly Drum and Unburden to become a devastating sweeper. Sitrus Berry activates Unburden, Substitute aids in finding opportunities to Belly Drum, Play Rough is STAB and Return hits Fire-types neutrally. This set needs the support of something that can take care of Steel-types, or something to aid it set up.

Virizion @ Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Leaf Blade
- Stone Edge

Virizion is a very underrated threat. It is a great late game cleaner due to its high speed. The Tornadus ban made it a million times better. Due to its good special bulk, it can get many set up opportunities. At 2 Close Combat hits very hard and Leaf Blade maims Alomomola and is generally the more spammable move. Stone Edge is sadly its only way of hurting Delphox, Moltres and other flying types and Tangrowth still walls it. Also, Scarfed Pokemon can easiely dispose of it due to its rather low physical defense. But, given enough support, it can sweep through teams easiely.

Samurott @ Lum Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 192 Spd / 252 Atk / 64 HP
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Megahorn
- Swords Dance

SD Rott is one of the best wall breakers in the tier and an absolute terror to bulky offense which is probably the most common playstyle. Water+Bug gives it really good coverage vs the most prominent walls in the tier and its Aqua Jet really hurts vs offense. Also this needs more use .-.

Mismagius @ leftovers/life orb/specs/scarf
Ability: Levitate
Timid Nature
- Shadow ball
- HP [fighting]/Thunderbolt
- Nasty plot
- Trick/Will-o-wisp/Substitute/Taunt/Hp [fighting]/Thunderbolt/destiny bond

Although Mismagius struggles to make an impression in the OU and even UU meta, it can fulfil a great role as a sweeper/spin blocker in RU. It has plenty of options that it can run, nasty plot is pretty important because although 105 Sp.attack is good, it isn't great, Hidden power fighting gives perfect coverage with shadow ball while thunderbolt hits harder on neutral hits. The last slot can be so many different things. If you're team wants a stall breaker choose taunt, if you're team wants something that goes well against HO, choose substitute, if you want to cripple incoming attackers then be able to boost choose specs/scarf. If you're team struggles with physical bulky attackers choose Will-o-wisp. If you want to be able to take another foe down with you, choose destiny bond. You can also choose the option to have Hidden power [fighting], thunderbolt and shadow ball in the same set. Just by looking at this you can see how unpredictable Mismagius is, and how great it is in RU. Untill it reveals its last moveslot you can never know what variation you're oppenent is running. All in all mismagius is such an unpredictable and great pokemon in the current RU metagame, especially now that it has room to breathe with shaymin, raikou, azelf, kyurem and tornadus gone, this is why I think mismagius would be a prime candidate for CCAT,

Durant @ Life Orb
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Hone Claws
- X-Scissor
- Iron Head
- Superpower

Hone Claws Durant, an extremely common set last generation, is still a great Pokemon this generation too. Its great Speed and Attack stat allow it to outspeed a tone of the unboosted tier while also hitting quite hard. Factor in Hone Claws, Life Orb, and Hustle, and Durant will do a great job destroying the opposing team. Hone Claws isn't all that hard to set up, either, thanks to Durant's great defensive typing and large defense stat. Durant is very flexible as well; it can either try to wallbreak with its immense power early-game, or go for a sweep late-game with its great Speed. Hone Claws is an obvious choice for a boosting move, as it effectively give Durant a Choice Band boost while also fixing up its shaky accuracy from Hustle. X-Scissor and Iron Head provide a devastating dual-STAB combination that can do a ton of damage to the opponent, while Superpower is a powerful move that allows Durant to get past Steel-types.

Overall, Durant brings to the table powerful attacks, great Speed, a nice defensive typing, and a boosting move that allows it to play multiple roles on a team, all in one Pokemon! :)

I'm just going to get my comment in here early as I'm thinking about it; one of the major downfalls of all of the original CCATs was that there were 20+ options to choose for at each stage and the votes were horrendously split, with usually one or two options being runaways and the others are ignored.

If you're a newer (or even an older) user looking to contribute to this project, you don't necessarily have to submit a set! Just as valuable, and perhaps more so is to provide commentary and reasoning as to why currently submitted sets should or should not be chosen, similar to the CAP art process as a parallel.

In this way you help provide everyone with more information to use as a basis for their vote, and also help keep the polling options from becoming hopelessly diluted.

Cheers~

Despite ^that post here's a really cool set that i didn't really see enough of last gen and i really think a CCAT this gen can help popularise it...

Moltres @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Def
Modest Nature
- Agility
- Fire Blast
- Hurricane
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Moltres has always been one of the most powerful pokes in the tier and usually fills the role of wallbreaker because of its high powered, almost unresisted STABs and massive special attack. But, it's been held back in the past by its low speed and because of a rocks weakness. With the new hazard control of defog as well as new pokes in the tier to prevent rocks (Xatu, Froslass, etc) Moltres has the potential to be even more effective than last gen. With this set you can bypass all the faster pokes who normally revenge kill it while also retaining its ability to wallbreak :]]]

ss234

bop.

Venomoth @ Life Orb
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Roost
- Sleep Powder

Tinted lens moth is rlly cool right now. Once it gets to +1, which isn't difficult because sleep, +1 tinted lens bug buzz dents p much everything bar ass vest esca. Roost allows it to p much own common stall teams, and allows for more longevity in general. I guess sludge bomb can be run over roost, but moth sets up all over aromatisse etc. and hitting emboar / molt for big damage generally isn't worth giving up roost. What I like about moth is that it doesn't limit the playstyle too early, as it works on hyper offense to balance (shake's team for example) and can even be used on more stallish teams as a way to break open opposing stalls. It also doesn't limit the team is terms of support, as yanmega and moltres do (and to an extent slurpuff)-obviously spin / defog support is nice but def not necessary because roost and not 4x weak to rock.

Mismagius nom is also p interesting except for the fact that you haven't actually chosen a set...

Gonna nominate this thingy

(Magneton) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 72 HP / 252 SAtk / 184 Spd
Modest Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Specs magneton is a cool guy and is a pretty easy starting point to build from due to his mix of absurd power, momentum, and synergorgasmic typing. Maggy just complements so many other mons and generates free turns and kills like no other. Its an out against Stall for Bulky Offensive teams, a way to suppress TR setters on offense and a fantastic way to wear down counters to sicknasty sweepers on balanced teams.

ojos asi (Vivillon) @ Sharp Beak
Ability: Compound Eyes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sleep Powder
- Hurricane
- Quiver Dance
- Substitute / Roost

An underrated special threat here, Quiver Dance is the move to setupp for sweep after some boost. Sleep Powder is the move which allows a free Quiver Dance, Hurricane is really strong with almost a perfect accuracy (a bit lower than Sleep Powder), a nice 30% to chance to confusion the opponent target and actually even being mono-attacker special sweeper that STAB is really good and hits neutral/effective a lot of stuff.

If you wanna a fabulous CCAT, this is your choice.
