All Gens Retro Cup of Pokemon 2021: Administrative Decisions and Information

Spreadsheet | Discord

Signups | Qualifying | Round 1 | Tiebreaker (if necessary) | Round 2 | Semifinals | Finals

This thread will be used for decisions as necessary as the tournament continues; the OP will be updated with team and schedule information as soon as that information is finalized. Me and Arai are hosting this tournament.
For the first round, players will be randomly assigned into 4 groups of 4 for each generation (×7), with the top 8 teams with the most wins collected proceeding. The seeding tiebreak will be the highest ranking points (6 points for sole 1st, 4 points for sole 2nd and 2 points for sole 3rd, shared between spots if necessary) within the group, just like WCoP and then randomization as the secondary tiebreak. The qualifying rounds and round 2 matches will be full 7 vs 7 man matchups. RBY OU will be first-to-2-wins, (best of 3 excluding ties), while the rest will be first-to-1-win.
In the event of a playoffs tiebreaker, captains of both teams will rank their preferred tiers from #1-#3. Points will be assigned to the ranks in the following way: #1 — 1000, #2 — 100, #3 — 10. The point values are arbitrary but represent the relationship of 1st choice > 2nd choice › 3rd choice when summed. The 3 tiers with the highest number of points will be selected for the tiebreaker set and managers will then choose any 3 unique players from each of their rosters to play in the determined tier spots. If there's a tie, the 3rd tier will be decided at random between the two.

RE: Qualification seeding
The point was made in the Discord that the RCoP 2020 results should be used as the basis for the qualification seeding, as opposed to the WCoP results (which were used last year since that was the first edition of that format). After some deliberation, we've decided to use the RCoP results for seeding instead, and will make that the standard for future RCoPs. WCoP standings will still be used as a tiebreaker for teams that were nonexistent/unclassified in the previous RCoP.

What this affects:
Teams that may have to play qualifiers when they previously didn't: US West (miraage), US Midwest (Expulso) -get your roster posted on or before the 21st once you have enough signups (if you haven't already).

Teams that will not have to play qualifiers when they previously may have: United Kingdom (watermess), Asia (pj), Canada (Genesis7)-these teams don't need to do anything right now, but just making sure you're aware of this. We're sorry for the confusion regarding this part of the rules.

Re: Jonfilch vs. Enzonana.
Enzonana initially attempted to make contact with jonfilch Mid-Thursday through a mention on the RoA discord; however, jonfilch claimed not to see it and it was not followed up by a Smogon or Discord DM. Jonfilch re-contacted on Saturday, and their availability did not seem to line up; at this point, I requested a double sub. However, Enzonana was able to extend their availability to jonfilch's given activity window (after 4 PM EST), making a double sub unnecessary, and waited for at least an hour past that with neither jonfilch or one of US Northeast's subs arriving to play the game despite being given ample notice from Team Argentina. Because of this hour-long window, where US Northeast initially claimed to be available but was not, I have no choice but to award an activity win to Team Argentina, which means that they will advance to the semifinals and play Brazil.
