Week 3:
Replay vs JabbaTheGriffin (W)
This team was made to be pretty safe. You can see the easy Tangela+Muk defensive core, also having a bulky set up Missy wincon and Scarf Gabite as a revenge killer. Metang was a nice secondary Victreebel check and the real fun mon on this team was Electabuzz. The set was to beat rockers like Rhydon and Relicanth while also setting up a sub on a potential Murkrow or SD Victreebel Sucker Punch. The team ended up not working exactly as intended, but Electabuzz was still able to severely weaken a Bellossom to put it in range later, live a hit from Scarf Missy, and end. up sweeping the game even when it looked like I was on the back foot a majority of the time. Turn 29 of this game will go down in my book as one of the craziest plays I've ever made that actually worked out.
Week 4:
Replay vs GeneralAnnoyance (L)
I take full responsibility for this loss. We made this team as an attempt to counter-team the stuff that GA had been bringing in past weeks. Lapras had. an insane matchup vs his first 3 teams, and we thought pairing it with Spikes would help pressure the team even more since the only immunes he had used were Mantine, Misdreavus (both of which are usually beaten by Lapras), and Murkrow (who wouldn't be able to switch into anything reliably and got easily worn down). Unfortunately, this team has an insane Sneasel weakness, which I even discovered during some tests. However, I was so sure that GA wouldn't bring something like Sneasel based on his past teams that I didn't even feel like planning for it. Of course GA loads up a CB Sneasel team and it wrecks house, but I still thought this team was fun!
Week 5:
Replay vs Aliss (W)
This team may have been one of the harder ones to come up with. This week I was going on vacation from Wednesday to Sunday so we had to play early in the week, only a couple of days to prep. Not to mention I had been doing a lot of my testing with Drud and since we played his team this week, I had to do a little more rigorous work in the teambuilder. We started out building around CB Armaldo lead, just as a big middle finger to the Purugly and Metang leads Aliss had used. We worked and tinkered all the way until Tuesday night, ~12 hours before the game. I felt really weird with the team so I scrapped it and asked if anyone had anything with Monferno which Trixx did. So I really didn't actually build this team but it started with a Whiscash over the Tangela which we changed to have a Ground-resist. CB Gabite really did the same thing as our Armaldo idea, just with more Speed and less of an edge over Purugly leads. Sub CM Golduck is normally not something I would consider using but in this game it did so much work since Aliss didn't have an actual Water-resist.
Week 6:
Replay vs Raichy (L)
Really wanted to use a more fun mon this week and Seviper seemed like the perfect pick. Easy ability to go mixed, tons of coverage, Sucker Punch, and it had a really good matchup vs all of the teams the Scraggies had used so far. The spread hit enough to outpace max Speed Adamant Relicanth, Attack to OHKO both Xatu and Missy with Sucker Punch while also 2HKOing Muk and Metang. The Metang outpaced 0 Speed Ampharos and lived a Heat Wave from Xatu after Stealth Rock, it was meant to be the guaranteed Psychic check since they had brought 2 Kadabras and 2 Xatus. Finally, the Politoed had enough Defense to live 2 Thunder Punches from Magmar. I really tried to out offense the offense that I knew they were likely bringing but the team matched up really poorly against Electabuzz after Purugly got taken out. This version of the team has Expert Belt Purugly to ensure that Missy dies to Shadow Claw but the original version had Lum Berry to beat it if it Wisped. Still a very fun team to use, and I only wish Seviper could've seen more of the spotlight during the game.
Week 7:
Replay vs HSOWA (W)
This was an edited team that Drud passed me. Scarf Glalie as a lead seems weird, but getting a guaranteed Spike up vs most leads or even a possible boom vs stuff like Magmar early game is huge. I really wanted to use Spikes since HSOWA only had used like Flying/Levitate mons in the whole tour up to this point. The rest of the team is pretty standard and self-explanatory. Managed to pull out a win thanks to HSOWA's Whiscash being the exact perfect set I needed it to be to not lose, if it had been Adamant or holding a Life Orb instead, I would've lost. Granted, I wouldn't have been in that position in the first place if I hadn't missed a Fire Blast but it was still a good and fun game to play.
Semis:
Replay vs Skysolo/The Strap (L)
This week I was planning on using a team with Choice Band Slaking for no reason other than I thought it would be fun. Unfortunately, I couldn't really decide on how I wanted the team to look and feel so instead I reused the week 1 team since it felt so safe. Ended up getting destroyed with no contest lmao.
Here's the team I was going to use if you really want to see it but I go not recommend you use it for anything other than wanting to use Slaking.
