Hello everyone, I'm proud to announce that I will be taking over Power Items, a Pet Mod where the main goal is to create a widespread of different items that mirror the effects of Abilities. In other words, as a community we will be creating items like Air Balloon, items that essentially give your Pokemon a secondary ability, but has a negative effect to make up for it.
Submissions
In each slate, a few Abilities will be listed, most likely all having something in common, for you to create an item based off of them. However, in order to mix it up, some rules are put into play so it's not just slapping the Ability effect on the item.
1. The item must have a negative effect (i.e. Air Balloon loses its effect when the user it hit by a non-Ground type move).
2. The effect that mirrors the Ability's effect can be changed, whether it's for optimization, making it more interesting, etc, however you cannot change it to where the effect is basically indistinguishable from the original effect. If you want, you can add an additional effect to the item, but it cannot overshadow the original effect in terms of usefulness. In other words, if an item has two effects, the effect that represents the Ability must be the primary reason to use it. Be creative!
Template for submissions:
Item: (What is the name of the item?)
Ability: (What Ability is this item mirroring?)
Effect(s): (How does the item effect the holder?)
Drawback: (What negative effect does the item also have to the holder?)
Addition Info: (Is there anything else about this item, such as interactions with Abilities, limitations on who can use it, and the like that should be noted?)
Example submission:
Item: Air Balloon
Ability: Levitate
Effect(s): Gives the user immunity to Ground-type moves.
Drawback: Pops when the user is hit by a non-Ground type move, losing its effect and leaves the user with no item.
Addition Info: Cannot be recovered. If the opponent uses an item-stealing move, it will pop before the opponent can take it.
Voting
Voting is rather simple: for each Ability in each slate, you'll vote for three users for each Ability in the slate that you think are the best, ordered with the first one you prefer the greatest. First gets 3 points, second gets 2, and third gets 1. In case of a tie, tiebreakers will be done during the submission phase of the next slate. If there's still no winner, the council will decide.
Template for voting (in this example, there were 3 Abilities in this slate):
Ability 1: Most preferred, second preferred, third preferred
Ability 2: Most preferred, second preferred, third preferred
Ability 3: Most preferred, second preferred, third preferred
You may vote for yourself, but it cannot be your first pick.
Council:
Estronic
Brodaha
If you have any questions and/or concerns, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer!
