Tapu Koko's high Speed, typing, and Electric Surge make it an excellent pivot, threatening foes such as Tornadus-T, Pelipper, Slowbro, and Toxapex. U-turn allows Tapu Koko to generate momentum, pivoting on switch-ins such as Ferrothorn, Assault Vest Tangrowth, and Clodsire to safely bring in teammates like Zamazenta and Urshifu-R. Grass Knot hits foes such as Gastrodon, Mega Tyranitar, and Mega Swampert, and it takes advantage of Tera Grass to potentially break Ting-Lu. Alternatively, Dazzling Gleam allows Tapu Koko to OHKO Mega Medicham and Weavile after Stealth Rock, and it dents other foes such as Tera Dragon Toxapex and Garchomp. Hidden Power Ice improves the matchup against Landorus-T and Gliscor while still hitting foes such as Garchomp, Tangrowth, and Dragonite. Tera Grass boosts the power of Grass Knot while granting Tapu Koko key resistances, allowing it to lure foes such as Barraskewda, Floatzel, and Mega Swampert, all while improving its matchup against Rotom-W. Tapu Koko must be careful when using Tera, however, as it becomes unable to safely switch into Tornadus-T once it Terastallizes. Pokemon that utilize Electric Terrain such as Iron Valiant, Iron Hands, and Mega Medicham make for excellent teammates, as it activates Quark Drive for the former two and increases the power of Thunder Punch for the latter, 2HKOing foes such as Gholdengo. Tapu Koko also forms strong pivoting cores with teammates like Tornadus-T and Mega Lopunny, which take advantage of its checks such as Ferrothorn and Clodsire to generate momentum. Wallbreakers such as Weavile, Urshifu-R, and Zamazenta also appreciate Tapu Koko letting them switch in against its checks for free, such as Assault Vest Tangrowth. In return, they beat foes such as the aforementioned Tangrowth, Clodsire and Ferrothorn.
