Toxapex is one of the best pivots/hazard removers in STABmons, thanks to its combination of Flip Turn and Mortal Spin. It's also a fantastic check to many common attackers, such as Urshifu-R, Iron Valiant, and Gouging Fire as a result of its typing and stats. Flip Turn allows Toxapex to generate momentum and pivot against wallbreakers like Tyranitar or Iron Valiant. Moreover, Mortal Spin removes hazards and allows it to punish and wear down non-Steel types, such as Ting-Lu, Tyranitar, and Rotom-W, which are otherwise fine switch-ins. Haze enables Toxapex to thwart setup sweepers like Gouging Fire and Gyarados that attempt to use it as setup fodder.
Tera Dragon is useful for checking Rillaboom, Ogerpon-W, and helps deal with Volcarona. Tera Fairy aids against Raging Bolt and Greninja while also removing Toxapex’s Ground weakness against threats like Great Tusk and Landorus-T.
Toxapex works best on more defensive teams, and teammates like Skarmory, Great Tusk, and Tyranitar can help patch up its weaknesses against wallbreakers such as Excadrill and Kyurem. A Relaxed nature alongside 0 Speed IVs makes Toxapex as slow as possible for Flip Turn.
