Something Worth Fighting For
[SET]
name: Physical Attacker
move 1: Knock Off
move 2: U-turn
move 3: Copycat / Sucker Punch
move 4: Gunk Shot / Play Rough
item: Choice Band / Life Orb
ability: Prankster / Limber
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Liepard can also utilize a more immediately threatening physical set with its strong STAB Knock Off, fantastic coverage, blazing Speed, and choice between two great priority options. U-turn helps Liepard pivot out of unfavorable situations and further momentum for its teammates. Liepard can Copycat a VoltTurn partner’s move and priority pivot out of faster foes such as Alolan Persian and Choice Scarf Sawk. Copycat can also copy strong physical attacks such as Rapidash’s Flare Blitz or High Horsepower as the opponent switches into their Dark-resist like Skuntank. Alternatively, STAB Sucker Punch hits certain other faster threats such as Choice Band Froslass, Accelgor, and Choice Scarf Rotom harder, although it should only be used with Life Orb. Gunk Shot nails Eviolite-less Tangela and opposing Fairy-types such Alcremie and Clefairy, all Pokemon Liepard would otherwise struggle breaking. Play Rough smacks opposing Fighting- and Dark-types hard; however, Liepard has an easier time wearing these foes down long-term due to most lacking reliable recovery options and the latter already being hit super effectively by U-turn. Choice Band locks Liepard into a singular move which makes it more prediction-reliant; however, the damage output compared to Life Orb is noticeable, needing the Choice Band to 2HKO Altaria with Play Rough, for instance. If Liepard isn't utilizing Prankster Copycat, Limber be used instead, keeping it safe from paralysis from Stunfisk's Static.
Physical Liepard sees use exclusively on offensive teams and creates a solid VoltTurn core with other offensive pivot users such as Rotom and Thwackey. Physical Liepard forces in would-be Knock Off switch-ins such as Alcremie and Gurdurr and can surprise them with its super effective coverage to KO them or soften them up for teammates such as Poliwrath or Klinklang. It can also remove items from troublesome foes such as Tangela, Altaria, and Rocky Helmet Miltank, making them easier to deal with. Faster Pokemon such as Accelgor and Choice Scarf Sawk can revenge kill Liepard locked into an attack other than Copycat or Sucker Punch; switch-ins for these foes such as Articuno and Qwilfish help mitigate this issue.
