And now for something completely different
Passimian @ Choice Band
Ability: Receiver
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- U-turn
- Gunk Shot
Passimian is a fascinating offensive threat, as what really allows it to stand out is its bulk and pivoting ability. PU is full of wallbreakers like Archeops and Magmortar, but they lack Passimian's solid bulk and resistance to Stealth Rock. Passimian never lacks switch in opportunities either, which is excellent with U-turn, meaning that many of its common checks and counters, such as Palossand and Spiritomb, are always in danger of giving up momentum if Passimian pivots into a partner that can easily exploit them, such as Choice Specs Aurorus. Even if Passimian predicts incorrectly with U-turn, there isn't much drawback to dealing 25% to Regirock or Ferroseed before going into a different counter. All of this results in Passimian being one of the most pressure-exerting Pokemon in the tier despite its mediocre base Speed. Passimian's biggest flaw is simply how common Fighting-type checks are, but because the opponent's risk is often much greater, Passimian still manages to shine.
