Hello I am Royal. I have been playing competitive pokemon for a long time but I only used sample teams. I'm really terrible at teambuilding so I just went on smogon and looked at what pokemon worked well together and pasted them onto a team. It worked kinda well. I tried this method with another team and it really didn't work at all. I'd love some help teambuilding, but for now please check out my first team :) I made this team a while ago.
Disclaimer: I don't really have a lot to explain about the sets because I took them all from smogon. I'm so sorry that my descriptions are pretty bad but idk what to say about them really
(Kyurem-Black) @ Icium Z
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Freeze Shock
- Fusion Bolt
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
I decided to build around Kyurem black because I wanted to take advantage of him as a counter for Landorus. I picked this set because I thought the Z move would be good to fire off on some of the other OU threats, and it would do a hearty amount of damage to each of them. Earth power is there for heatran, which is pretty much the only pokemon that I am willing to stay in on that won't take a lot from Subzero Slammer.

EVs: 252 HP / 92 Def / 164 SpD

IVs: 0 Spe

Next I have ferrothorn. I added him as my stealth rocker and scizor counter. He came to mind because I thought of Kyurem Black getting eaten alive by bullet punches. I also added him because at this point I had already added Mega-Scizor and Landorus which would allow for volt-turning if i was able to get a read and I could go out into my wall and hopefully get a free stealth rock or leech seed.
Teracy (Keldeo-Resolute) @ Choice Specs

I decided to add Keldeo because I noticed that my team got bodied by Mega Charizard Y and max speed Keldeo outspeeds it by just a few points. Hydro pump one hit ko's it in the rain which is great, and sacred sword is really good for Kartana, Scizor, and Ferrothorn. Choice specs are really good to ensure the KO on some targets that the rest of my team has a hard time with
Azazel (Scizor) (M) @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Defog
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Roost
I decided to add Mega scizor because I didn't have any other megas and I wanted one that could reliably volt turn and be a defogger just in case my landorus went down. I also used it for some priority in case my Keldeo and or Landorus went down and I wanted to outspeed an immediate threat.
Zapdos @ Leftovers

EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe

I used Zapdos as a counter to Ferrothorn, Scizor, and Kartana because Keldeo can't do it alone. Also in the rare case of a pelipper, I wanted to have something that could scare it out. I tried to use him as a defensive wall sometimes but that does not really work out, so most times I just try to use him as a pivot if I don't have a speed advantage.
Socks (Landorus-Therian) @ Choice Scarf

EVs: 80 HP / 148 Atk / 84 Def / 196 Spe

Lastly I added Landorus. I wanted to use a scarfed Landorus so I could outspeed other Landorus' and hit them with a hidden power ice. He's also my primary defogger and u-turn user so I can pivot into other pokemon. Sometimes I find it a bit difficult to get off a defog at all because most times I just want to hit the enemy with something hard before they hit me and I go down.
thank you for checking out my team, I think it's okay. I mainly just want help with team building because I want to be able to make my own teams and not use methods like this. I want to learn more about the game and learn about what goes well with what and how to make a great team, thank you :)
