Mismagius (qc 1/3)

[OVERVIEW]

  • solid speed tier, letting it pass up a good part of the tier and speed tying with scyther and opposing mismagius with maximum investment and a boosting nature
  • ghost typing lets it be a great spinblocker while having excellent STAB attacks in the form of shadow ball or hex
  • respectable special attack, which is further excentuated by its access to nasty plot
  • great support movepool, including taunt, will-o, destiny bond, or even memento can cripple missys conventional checks, such as skuntank
  • 3 immunities to common attacking types (fighting, normal, ground) create some defensive utility
  • crappy bulk means that missy often cannot switch into attacks, even neutral ones
  • weak to common dark- and ghost-type attacks, such as pursuit, knock off, or shadow ball. colbur helps with the pursuit and koff weakness tho
  • pretty weak without a boost or boosting item
  • speed still leaves a lot to be desired, being passed up by mons like liepard, archeops, and swellow
[SET]
name: Stallbreaker
move 1: Hex
move 2: Will-o Wisp
move 3: Taunt
move 4: Pain Split
item: Colbur Berry
ability: Levitate
nature: Timid
evs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 176 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • hex is stab and hits fairly hard against statused opponents
  • will-o complements hex by doubling its power, halves the opponents physical attack, and wears the oppoment down
  • taunt stops opponents from statusing mismagius, setting up entry hazards, or even recovering. synergizes well with will-o to wear opponents down
  • pain split is missys only semi-reliable form of recovery (lol rest) and can actually take a sizable chunk off of mons with high hp stats, such as skunk or audino
  • shadow ball can be used over hex to ohko jynx after rocks, but hex is generally going to be better

Set Details
========

  • timid + speed evs let you outpace pokemom with base 95 speed and a boosting nature such as jynx
  • rest in hp and defense to take hits better
  • levitate is super cool cause ground and (toxic) spikes immunity
  • colbur berry makes mismagius a fairly reliable switchin to fighting types. it also becomes far less vulnerable to users of pursuit, particularly skuntank.
  • an offensive spread of 252 spa / 4 spdef / 252+ speed hits way harder and can speed tie with scyther and opposing mismagius
Usage Tips
========

  • can be used early game to spread status, or mid-game to hit statused opponents hard with hex
  • send missy in on a defensive mon that doesnt threaten it or on an attack its immune to, such as prinplup or sawks close combat
  • will-o physical attackers, such as sawk, so that theyre crippled
  • taunt defensive mons, such as audino, musharna, or quag or so they cant recover, boost, or status you
  • missy is a p good spinblocker, so switch it in on users of rapid spin such as sandslash or hitmonchan, that cant really do much to missy
  • missy can also taunt certain sr setters, such as crustle, that dont really threaten it

Team Options
========

  • tspike setters, such as garbordor or weezing, make for the best partners to this set to help status things, helping boost hex
  • ground types such as rhydon can threaten pyroar, magmortar, or skuntank, who give mismagius plenty of trouble
  • due to this sets vulnerability to faster offensive pokemon, such as archeops, swellow or liepard, a choice scarf pokemon can make for a great partner. scarf rotom-fan is a particularly good teammate, as it can threaten all of the aforementioned pokemon, and appreciates mismagius wearing down the opposing team with burns and hex n stuff
  • hariyama is a cool partner, as it checks the fire types that hardwall this set, pyrosr and magmortar, while also being a solid check to dark types
[SET]
name: Nasty Plot
move 1: Nasty Plot
move 2: Shadow Ball
move 3: Dazzling Gleam
move 4: Hidden Power Ground / Destiny Bond
item: Colbur Berry / Life Orb
ability: Levitate
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • nasty plot helps boost missy's power to really threatening levels
  • shadow ball is missy's most reliable form of special STAB
  • dazzling gleam hits dark types for super-effective damage, with the less-important perk of hitting fighting types harder aswell
  • hidden power ground is primarily used for hitting skuntank and pyroar, who otherwise wall mismagius, for super-effective damage
  • destiny bond could be cool over hp ground for getting off a last-ditch kill, but hitting skuntank and pyroar without needing to faint for it is really great
Set Details
========

  • max speed +a timid nature lets you speedtie with opposing scyther or mismagius, and max special attack lets you hit as hard as possible
  • levitate is cool cause ground immunity, while also making you less vulnerable to spikes and tspikes
  • colbur berry gives mismagius some decent defensive utility, making it less weak to dark moves, primarily knock off, sucker punch, or pursuit
  • life orb is another option, making missy hit way harder. although, its worn down way faster and way more vulnerable to stuff like skuntank than colbur would make you. best used alongside destiny bond
Usage Tips
========

  • can act like a wallbreaker mid-game to pick off sufficently weakened foes, or soften up bulky special walls for a teammate
  • use nasty plot to clean up mid-late game once its checks are gone or weakened
  • although it lacks the defenses of the offensive set, mismagius can still be used as a soft check to fighting types such as sawk or hariyama when equipped with a colbur berry
  • send it in on rapid spinners, such as hitmonchan or sandslash, that dont immediately threaten missy
  • if you choose to run life orb, use it alongside destiny bond

Team Options
========
  • this set fits best on offensive spikestacking teams that need a spinblocker and a wincon, so spike setters such as cacturne or garbordor make for excellent partners to mismagius
  • if using destiny bond, having a partner that shares checks with mismagius can be great, as mismagius can lure them in. shiftry is a good partner, as it appreciates mismagius luring in skuntank or pyroar, which are some of its most common offensive checks.
  • strong wallbreakers, such as choice band sawk or zangoose, make for great partners, as mismagius takes advantage of the pressure they put on offensive teams and with mons like audino to be weakened
  • klinklang can be a cool partner, as it sets up on m-audino, while mismagius is immune to fighting and ground types that klink is weak to. this core is vulnerable to fire types, however
  • ground types such as rhydon can threaten pyroar, magmortar, or skuntank, who give mismagius plenty of trouble
  • offensive carracosta is a cool partner, checking most offensive checks to mismagius, such as archeops, scyther, or swellow, while still preserving momentum
  • skuntank is a cool partner, eliminating scarf rotom or haunter and shutting down audino for missy
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • tbolt is cool to hit bulky waters like mantine and generally provides good neutral coverage with shadow ball, but you hit mantine hard enough as it is
  • memento can be used to help give a set-up sweeper have a chance to set up
  • power gem pops magmortar and pyroar harder than hp ground, but hits less overall

Checks and Counters
===================

**Strong Physical Attackers**: Due to its abyssmal physical defense, Mismagius is incredibly susceptable to strong physical wallbreakers such as Swellow, Archeops, or Klinklang, who can threaten Mismagius with a STAB Brave Bird, Acrobatics, or Gear Grimd, respectively. Swellow in particular doesn't fear the Will-o Wisp from the Stallbreaker set, due to its ability, Guts, and immunity to Ghost-type attacks.

**Fire-types** Fire-types, particularly Magmortar or Pyroar, threaten Mismagius not carrying Hidden Power Ground. Magmortar is able to comfortably switch into any attack Mismagius might go for thanks to its Assault Vest, while Pyroar is immune to Mismagius' STAB Hex or Shadow Ball.

**Mega Audino** Mega Audino is a definite stop to Nasty Plot Mismagius thanks to its immunity to Ghost and excellent bulk. However, Mega Audino struggles against Mismagius' Stallbreaker set.

**Dark-types** Although they won't be wanting to switch into Mismagius' Dazzling Gleam or Will-O Wisp, Dark-types, such as Shiftry, Liepard, or Skuntank can still trouble Mismagius, even with a Colbur Berry. Skuntank in particular is neutral to Dazzling Gleam, and can trap Mismagius with Pursuit or make it think twice before attacking with the threat of a Sucker Punch.

Bulky stallbreaker needs to be added, possibly even as the first set. I've had far more success with it than anything else on Mismagius and I also find it far more threatening than Nasty Plot whenever I'm facing it. Should be something like Wisp | Hex or Shadow Ball | Taunt | Pain Split or Thunder Wave with Colbur and Lefties as the item slashes, and max HP / 80 Def / 176 Spe Timid to beat base 95s.

I've never seen the utility attacker before though I won't reject it for now since it doesn't seem half bad. If anyone else has experience with it though feel free to chime in

Blast I've used the "utility attacker" set on sticky web and it's the set I've come to prefer over most variants. It sort of combines the best of each missy variant and imo minimizes those sets flaws--colbur is normally weak as fuck, life orb can't switch in on spinners reliably. The set also allows mismagius to bother defensive cores/prevent defog and create set up opportunities for certain mons with wisp and potentially memento (which works over dbond). I've found it to be really useful for sticky web and I imagine it's good for any hazard-based offensive team.

on the Nasty Plot set I feel Destiny Bond should be slashed behind HP Ground since HP Ground basically hits two mons and I don't think it should be the only move people should be considering.
Also can you get this ready for QC soon

qc ready, sorry for the wait

merged stallbreaker and utility attacker. too similar imo, and the offensive spread is mentioned in set details.
i put dbond in moves rather than slashing it, metaphysical, because while it may only hit two mons, those mons are incredibly common, and id like some way to hit them without fainting.

I would say in the overview that it has bad Defense and leave it at that, because the Stallbreaker set does do a good job tanking some special attacks.

For both sets, add Ground-types to team options as they threaten most of the mons that give Missy trouble such as Mag, Pyroar, and Skuntank. For the offensive set, Skuntank traps opposing Ghost-types like Scarf Rotom and Haunter, while also shutting down Mega Audino. Klinklang uses Mega Audino as setup bait and threatens with Gear Grind, while Missy is immune to Ground- and Fighting-type attacks aimed at Klinklang, so its also a decent partner (though the two are bit vulnerable to Fire-types).

In checks and counters, also add that all the Dark-types you have listed hate being burned (Shiftry and Skunk can't risk using Sucker Punch against Wisp sets).

Overall looking good so, QC 1/3

[OVERVIEW]

  • solid speed tier, letting it pass up a good part of the tier and speed tying with scyther and opposing mismagius not necessary, thats kinda obvious that max spe x mon speed ties with itself with maximum investment and a boosting nature fluff as well
  • ghost typing lets it be a great spinblocker while having excellent STAB attacks in the form of shadow ball or hex remove this line, the fact that it is a spinblocker is pretty obvious because its a ghost type and the latter part of the sentence doesnt add too much either
  • crappy physical (its spdef is solid) bulk means that missy often cannot switch into attacks, even neutral ones
I'd probably mention that it faces some competition from misdreavus as a stallbreaker/spinblocker in one slot as often its significantly higher bulk can be more useful than the extra speed missy has

move 3: Taunt
move 4: Pain Split

slash leftovers after colbur, when I used colbur there were a bunch of times that I rly wished I had lefties; not going to find specific calcs but general longevity is the use of it

  • destiny bond could be cool over hp ground for getting off a last-ditch kill, but hitting skuntank and pyroar without needing to faint for it is really great I still think you're giving hp ground too much credit, just state that destiny bond allows missy to play mindgames with sucker punch users (shiftry's sucker ko's through colbur)
mention taunt here

the wording on the klinklang part is really weird, just say "its a good teammate because of this and this"

mention sub + nasty plot here, its not that good of a set but it deserves a mention in oo

this should probably be faster physical attackers since slower ones get wisped

be specific with this, shiftry's sucker and liepard's knock off kill after rocks
Tag me in a post or pm me when you've made these changes and I'll look it over again

im really sorry for doing this but im gonna have to drop this cause im really busy atm with back to school stuff
