Mareanie's bulk, typing, and ability make it a fantastic defensive pivot that is able to counter Fighting-, Fire-, and Fairy-types and a handful of other Pokemon like Pawniard and Alolan Grimer. Regenerator and Recover allow it to switch into these threats many times throughout the match. Although it's fairly passive, Mareanie provides great utility by spreading burns and removing items. Good teammate options include Pokemon like Snivy, Pawniard, and Ferroseed that both appreciate Mareanie's resistances and help deal with its weaknesses. Mareanie's Ground weakness leaves it vulnerable to being trapped by Diglett, making Snivy a particularly good choice because it can come in to force out Diglett while applying immediate offensive pressure.

Although fairly passive, its great offensive typing and access to Knock Off mean that it can still deal acceptable damage against many foes or remove their items.

The only move that is really used offensively is Sludge Bomb, as all Fairy-types do not really want to be hit by a Sludge Bomb. Scald is mainly used to spread burns, as you generally are not staying in on Rock or Ground types (Earthquake), or Fire types (High Horsepower). Try rephrasing it to instead highlight it's utility instead of the damage it does.

making Snivy a particularly good choice because it can come in to revenge kill Diglett

Only Pursuit trappers revenge kill Diglett reliably. You might be able to rephrase to resist EQs or force out Diglett
