Magnezone carves itself a niche thanks to Magnet Pull, which allows it to trap and remove Steel-types such as Mega Scizor, Kartana, Ferrothorn, and Skarmory, potentially forcing the latter three to Terastallize so teammates such as Kartana and Tapu Lele can beat them. Volt Switch lets Magnezone maintain momentum while eliminating foes such as Skarmory and chipping Heatran, which cannot be trapped and removed consistently. Alternatively, Tera Blast + Tera Fighting lets Magnezone remove Kingambit, potentially forcing it to Terastallize as well. Hidden Power Fire hits foes such as the aforementioned Mega Scizor, Kartana, and Ferrothorn. Toxic is another alternative that punishes switch-ins such as Gastrodon, Ting-Lu, and Hippowdon, though it can be difficult to justify over other alternatives, as it hinders Magnezone's effectiveness as a trapper. Magnezone should only Terastallize when it can trap and eliminate Kingambit, since teammates such as Dragapult and Dragonite take advantage of Tera better. The given EV spread allows Magnezone to survive an unboosted Sacred Sword from Kartana. Teammates such as Dragonite and Kartana appreciate Magnezone removing foes such as Skarmory and Ferrothorn, allowing them to sweep easier. The former can also safely switch into Ground-type attacks for Magnezone, while the latter threatens troublesome Ground-types such as Hippowdon and Gastrodon. Teammates such as Dragapult and Landorus-T provide pivoting support for Magnezone, granting it free entry against foes such as Skarmory and Kingambit to ease prediction. Dragapult in particular appreciates Magnezone trapping and removing Kingambit, allowing it to sweep without fear of being Pursuit trapped.

Alternatively, Tera Blast alongside Tera Fighting lets Magnezone remove Kingambit, potentially forcing it to Terastallize as well. Hidden Power Fire hits foes such as the aforementioned Mega Scizor, Kartana, and Ferrothorn. Teammates such as Dragonite, Gliscor, glisc is infamously good at ripping apart skarm and ferro stuff and Kartana appreciate Magnezone removing foes such as Skarmory and Ferrothorn, allowing them to sweep easier. The former two can also safely switch into Ground-type attacks for Magnezone, while Kartana threatens troublesome Ground-types such as Hippowdon and Gastrodon.
