I don't understand why anyone would want a robot that is that human other than for the novelty of having a super-human robot...or for sex...

It reacts to him poking it in the face the same way a girl reacts when I ask/beg for sex. I swear you could make a female version, slap a few pelvic and chest modifiers/sensors/movement thingers on there and you've got yourself sexbot 1.0. I bet that is literally the next step in their creation.

What do you guys think?

I really like this kind of news, I'm sorta scared of dying in a far(?) future, I really want to see what kind of stuff we'll have made by then.

funny you should mention sex though, a while ago on the colbert report (best show ever, btw) stephen did an interview with this author who wrote a book called "love and sex with robots" and basically the book went on to say that as robots become more and more human-like, the more humans can actually have feelings for them, and we'll eventually get to the point where humans can literally "love" them, as in desire of marrige with them.

This talk about sex bots reminds of a certain episode of Futurama. I find this pretty fascinating actually. I want to see more advances in robot technology.

i immediately thought of movies like irobot and the matrix personally, but yeah i think i know what episode you are talking about Kira on futurama...

pretty cool stuff with the robot man in the vid, the dots on the mouth kind of remind me of how they do animated/cgi stuff with facial features nowadays

Yeah, I thought of that episode of Futurama too.

I think someone will almost definitely make some sort of sex robot - look at the internet there are five porn sites for every "normal" website. The internet wasn't made with that in mind, but it inevitably developed as there was demand for it. I think it will be interesting to see how society reacts to it - like whether it will be as widespread as porn or considered weird like those sex dolls people some people get. It could go either way,

i really dont see the need to advance into this area of technology. robots dont need to react like humans, they need to do jobs that are
a. require intense presicion,
b. too dangerous for a man I.E fighter pilot
