Arena:
"Welcome to Ring Town, home to the new Grass Gym!"

Fiore never expected these words to exist on one of its signs, especially in a region where Pokémon aren't used for battling, but more as help or pets. Still, you wondered what kind of maniac would run a gym in a small town like that, so you ask someone for directions to it. All they tell you is to 'follow the enigmatic path', and while cryptic, someone else told you that the gym itself was in Lyra Forest. Confident in your adventuring abilities, you venture in the forest, following a path that lead to the gym in question.

The path to it seemed straightforward. A couple of twists here and there, but nothing too serious. As you reach the spot where the Grass Gym is said to lie in, you don't really see anything. It's a pretty beaten down path. But before you can take in the scenery, a swarm of Vileplume approach you. You reach for your Pokéballs and/or companions, but are soon knocked out by the Sleep Powders.

...

You wake up in a beautiful part of the forest, several Enigma Berry bushes around, grass at your feet. You're sure this isn't the same place you fell asleep in. You bring out your Pokéballs and/or your companions, but someone swoops in from a nearby tree, landing right next to you!

"Hey, how's it going?"

You take a step back, not in fear, but in shock.

"Who are you? What is this place?"

"Name's Lionel, and you're in the Fiore Ring Town Gym!"

"Gym? But I thought the gym was in that dusty part of the forest!"

"Heh, sorry about that. The Vileplume think it's funny to make the gym in a more secret part of the forest, so I roll with the little trap. Plus, you wouldn't want to hurt the forest by giving away the place, would you?"

"Guess not, it's pretty beautiful here."

The odd man doesn't have Pokéballs on him, but before you ask him about it, a Chesnaught and a Gogoat join him.

"Are those yours?"

"Yeah! They've been with me since the beginning! Finn here especially."

Other Grass Pokémon join him, of all shapes and sizes.

"So, guess you're here for a challenge, right?"

You nod silently.

"Then I, Lionel String of the Forest, accept your challenge!"

Restrictions:
Natural Water, Grass and Rocks available.

Effects:
-The grass seems to take in water very well. Water Sport has a duration of nine (9) actions instead of six and costs one (1) less Energy.

-The sun is shining, but not overly so. Default weather is Spring Sunlight. During Spring Sunlight, all of the effects of Sun occur, except for changes in the BAP of Fire and Water-typed moves. The weather may only change with weather-changing abilities, or by a weather move used by a Pokémon holding an appropriate weather rock.

-The gravity seems to be heavier here, but you're not quite sure why. Gravity is always intensified. Using Gravity will remove the effect for four (4) rounds before intensifying again.

Codifications:
-Nature Power calls Stun Spore.
-Secret Power has a 30% chance of Paralysis.
-Camouflage turns the user into a Grass-type.
-Arena Type: Grass

<Necturna> [Denise] (Female)
"There are absolutely no tricks here. Honestly, what do you take me for?"
Desperation Theme: ASK - Ride Out
Shy but powerful, Denise keeps to herself as often as possible. She has been seen conversing with Emily and Sierra, but not much else.
As a Necturna, she often lures people, friend or foe, into a false sense of security, before Sadie pranks them well.

<Cradily> [Merlon] (Male)
"Quiet down! Even a Cradily needs some beauty sleep."
Desperation Theme: Soul Calibur II - Raise Thy Sword
Revived in the Rustboro labs and then given to Lionel, Merlon keeps a positive attitude on things... even if the constant feuding between Lyra and Elena get on his nerves.
Now a Cradily, others find it harder to fight when he's around, in fear of disturbing the peace and quiet of a Pokemon that was stuck as a fossil for a few thousands of years. After all, while he's slow to move, he's not slow to attack.

<Roserade> [Elena] (Female)
"I'm perfect, absolutely perfect!"
Desperation Theme: Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed - Burning Depths
Lionel caught Elena during a large grassland catch spree. She's quick on her feet and on her mouth.
While her outer beauty has increased as a Roselia, her inner beauty has not, and she continues to complain and insult others, much to her teammates' chagrin.
As a Roserade... she has not changed much, if at all. Though she has learned a powerful attack in the form of Weather Ball.

Team Rainman Legends

Tomohawk (Kain Highwind) (M)
Types:
Flying:
Immunity to Ground attacks and the Arena Trap Ability except under the effects of Smack Down and Gravity, even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Will always hit foes with Dig (except other Flying types) and Dive. Cannot be hit by Dive unless the attacking Pokemon has a size class greater than four (4). Unaffected by Spikes or Toxic Spikes. when switching in. Able to hit Pokemon in the evasive stage of Bounce, Fly or Sky Drop with single target moves that hit Pokemon on the field regardless of position.
Fighting: Ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw.

Abilities:
Intimidate:
When this Pokemon initially goes out into the battlefield, it generates an intimidating roar or war cry that shakes all opponents on the battlefield, reducing their Attack stage by one (1). The attack drop is maintained at the end of each round. If an opponent switches in a new Pokemon, Intimidate can be activated again as a Command, and will affect all opponents.
Command: Activate Intimidate - 5 En - Lowers all foes' Attack by one (1) stage. Only usable if a foe entered play this round.
Prankster: The Pokemon is always prepared for engaging in sneaky tactics and trickery, giving its non-damaging attacks a +1 increase in priority level.
Justified (H): This Pokemon's body reacts to dark energy, invigorating its passions. When hit by a Dark-type move, the Pokemon's attack will increase one (1) stage. A boost gained this way will be maintained at the end of each round.

: immune to paralysis status.
Dragon: -1 BAP on incoming neutral attacks Dragon itself would resist (e.g. -1 BAP on Aqua Jet against Garchomp.) Unable to have Thrash or Outrage disrupted by oncoming damage.
Abilities:
Shield Dust
: This Pokemon has dust covering the outside of its body that reduces the Effect Chance of incoming attacks to 0%. This prevents such things as Burns from Flamethrower from occuring.
Static: This Pokemon's body is surrounded by an electric field that has a 30% chance of paralyzing opponents that use contact moves on this Pokemon.
Overcoat (H): This Pokemon has a sturdy exterior that rebuffs the elements, making it immune to damage inflicted by bad weather. The Pokemon is also immune to "Powder" moves. (Full List: Cotton Spore, Poison Powder, Powder, Rage Powder, Sleep Powder, Spore, Stun Spore.) If the Pokemon is already immune to at least one (1) kind of weather, or powder attacks by typing or a different ability, Overcoat reduces the Base Attack Power of all oncoming attacks by one (1).

Aurumoth (Phantom) (M)
Type:
Bug: Adds an additional guaranteed attack on all multi-hit moves (does not include two hit moves) with a total hit cap of five (5).

Psychic: Can lift and throw opponents with Psychic regardless of Special Attack Rank. Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.

Abilities:
Weak Armor: No default effect. When toggled, the Pokemon loosens its worn defensive armor so that it will break off when an opponent uses a contact attack, reducing the Pokemon's Defense and increasing their Speed by one (1) stage for each hit.

No Guard: This Pokemon has an immense confidence from perfecting each of its attacks, giving them all perfect accuracy. As a result, it feels it can weather every strike, and will not dodge an attack even if ordered to. Only when an OHKO move is issued by the opponent does the Pokemon sense return, and the Pokemon acts normally. Additionally, even with their extra skill, the power and exhaustion involved in using OHKO moves prevents them from being benefited by No Guard; they will have their normal accuracy.

Illusion (H): Whenever you send this Pokemon out, it can feign the appearance of another member on your squad. If this Pokemon is damaged by a direct attack, the Illusion will cease at the end of the round. Direct damage is any attack that does damage to the Pokemon's HP. Attacks that are evaded, blocked via Protect, or damage a Substitute are not considered direct damage. It will retain the typing and moveset of the Pokemon with Illusion. [Usage Note: PM the ref if you are sending out a Pokemon with Illusion with the info on said Pokemon and one of your squad members in a Switch=KO battle. You must use that squad member later in the battle though.]

Big thanks to FMD for showing me a seldom-used move that works wonders in grass doubles. Also, Tuck Fogekiss and Fomohawk. Seriously, I'm using all three of my subs ordering second.
I'm already mentally preparing to forfeit if retarded hax happens.

[Priority-1]IF Abomasnow's first substitution activates THEN Forest's Curse (Togekiss) A3 instead

Abomasnow: Protect (Self) > Ice Reaver (Sheer Cold + Ice Beam (Tomohawk)) > Cooldown (Ice Reaver Togekiss)
IF (for some reason, since Sheer Cold + Blizzard is a-okay) Sheer Cold + Ice Beam is an unfeasible combo THEN Absolute (Blizzard + Sheer Cold) A3 instead and replace A2 with Ice Beam (Tomohawk)
IF Necturna hits itself in confusion A1 AND your first substitution does NOT activate THEN Frost Breath (Tomohawk) A2 and Sheer Cold + Ice Beam (Tomohawk) A3 instead
IF you flinch A2 AND your first substitution does NOT activate THEN Sheer Cold + Ice Beam (Tomohawk) A3

"WOW, there's a trainer here to fight with our leader. I'M SO EXCITED! What a beautiful day for a gym battle! The sky is blue, not a cloud in sight, the flowers are blooming (like myself), the sun is shining! Its perfect!"
"Meh, its alright. His team looks pretty strong, I'm not sure this battle will be very good for us...two flying types? That's no good for us grass types, and doubly no good for me."
"Its okay, Canis will just use Abomasnow! She's so strong she can save the day! It's going to be WONDERFUL!!!!!!"
"Do you really forget what happens every time Canis sends out Lyra?"
"What? We win? THAT'S GREAT!"
"..."

"..."

"Mmmph mmph brrrrr"
"At least we're both wearing coats. Anyways, -"
"Amph kmmmph smummmph. MMMMMM EEEEP MMM mmph mmmmmmmmmmph."
"Fine. I'll describe what's happening for you. The challenger sends out Togekiss and Tomohawk against our lovely Lyra and Denise. It's really not looking good for us, Cherri, Lyra's hiding behind a tree while Denise is taking a beating."
"MMMOOHHHH"
"Don't worry, Canis knows what he's doing, girl. Anyways, Lyra's come out from behind that tree only to uh, well something nasty happened but you don't really need the details. Anyways, Denise is pulling some sort of ghostly business on the Tomohawk; he's got leaves sprouting all over him now, which is pretty weird. Lyra's charging up for something good, and -"
"BRRRRRRRRRRR"
"Yeah, you felt that. That was the chill of Tomohawk biting the dust. Well, that Togekiss is hitting Lyra again, and Denise is pulling some more ghostly business, this time on Lyra. Don't worry, I'm sure its the good kind. Yeah, Lyra looks a lot healthier now."
"Mmmmph mmmmm!"
"Yep. Go team. Hurray."

"Mmm brrr mmmph?"
"Yes, Cherri, we're winning. Another resounding victory for the grass gym."
"MMMMMPH!"
"I was being sarcastic. In fact, we have no hope of winning if Canis doesn't show up - absolutely no chance."

Match cancelled since to vanishing leader. After one round, no badge awarded.

Since this was technically a DQ, you may use ONE AND ONLY ONE of the following,

  • Queue Jump - the player's next gym match where they are the challenger will take the highest priority in the Gym Queue, in front of all other reffings.
  • Temporary 3rd Gym Slot - The player can, at one point, challenge a gym when they have two challenges active or queued, effectively having three gym battles concurrently.

We apologise for the inconcenience.

OK, so....

We (me + df44 + texas) talked a little and we decided to give a third option in the case of DQ due to the leader quitting:

  • Continue the match - the player continues the match where it was with one of the Gym Committee members playing the role of the Gym Leader.

Please pick one of the three options on your earliest convenience.

Cradily: Earthquake - Earthquake - Earthquake
IF
"Cyclohm" is hit NVE by Earthquake THEN Rock Slide damnit Sludge Bomb (Togekiss) on the following action and Stone Edge (Togekiss) on the action after that
IF Either opposing pokemon is under P/E THEN target the other with Ancient Power
IF Tormented AND Cradily is to use Earthquake AND Cradily's last action was Earthquake THEN Earth Power (Cyclohm) instead

Necturna: Knock Off (Togekiss) - Stone Edge (Togekiss) - Stone Edge (Togekiss)
IF
"Cyclohm" is hit NVE by Earthquake THEN Knock Off ("Cyclohm") on the following action and Stone Edge ("Cyclohm") on the action after that
IF Togekiss is under P/E THEN Redirect towards Cyclohm and push back
IF Fire-damaging move AND aimed at Necturna AND Togekiss is NOT to use Encore (Necturna) on the following action AND this sub wasn't played on the action prior THEN Protect
[FOREWARN] IF Encore (Necturna) THEN redirect all future actions towards Cyclohm

Not much to be done here tbh.

Thank hail
Togekiss
extremespeed+sky attack (necturna)-->cd (espeed+sky attack necty)-->aura sphere+aura sphere (cradily)

Now hopefully I didn't miscalc anything here

"It's not looking too hot for us out there."
"mmmmmph"
"That's not what I meant, of course its not hot outside. What I mean is, our friend Canis had to leave, so it looks like some other guy is taking over. I hope he knows what he's doing. Even worse, there's a Cyclohm out there now, and it does not look happy. I think I preferred the Tomohawk."
"mmmmphmmhmhohmhmmhmphmh"
"I'm sure Canis is okay, girl, he's just got more important things to do than defend his gym and his honor. Now let's see what this new guy has to offer."

"Howdy. I'm with Frosty. Y'all can trust him, he's quite the battler."
"So what am I watching right now? The challenger's Pokemon are barely scratched, Denise is a goner, and Merlon is doing nothing useful."
"That's all on your friends out there, ain't nobody in the region that could make this round work for a low health Necturna and an itemless Cradily against those two."
Cherrim mmmphs sadly.
