Welcome to the Grammar Prose Workshop v5! We've decided to revive and revamp this project in order to encourage more users to contribute to Smogon through GP checking analyses and articles. This workshop is where users can turn to learn more about the process known as Grammar and Prose, commonly referred to as "GP". This particular facet of Smogon handles the editing of written content to ensure that it is grammatically correct before going on-site. There are several areas where grammar checking is needed, including the following:

Areas Where GP Is Needed

Contributions & Corrections

Commonly abbreviated as C&C, this is the part of the site where Pokemon analyses and articles that dictate or explain relevant information for the many generations and tiers are written. The GP phase happens after the QC (Quality Control) phase, which fine-tunes the competitive quality of the content. After an analysis has received all its Quality Control checks (usually indicated by QC 1/1 or QC 2/2), the writer will change the thread tag to Copyediting, which means that it's time for the writeup to go through GP, usually consisting of one or two checks. After the writer of the analysis has implemented the GP checks, the analysis is generally ready for upload.

The Flying Press

The spiritual successor to The Smog, The Flying Press releases individual articles about a variety of topics relating to Smogon, from Pokemon spotlights to tournament coverage to PS! room overviews. Note that the GP standards for The Flying Press are more relaxed than in C&C. Also, unlike C&C, The Flying Press's writing workshop is not public; you must have permission to view it, which is usually only given through having an article approved in the submission phase or becoming part of the official GP or HTML team.

Once an article's thread tag changes to Grammar, the writer is done with the article and is now awaiting your edits. After the writer of the article has implemented two GP checks, the article must have HTML done, and then it is generally ready for publishing. Be advised that art may come to a project at any time of these projects and has no bearing on the order of phases therein.

Social Media Spotlights

Social Media Spotlights consist of individual Pokemon set spotlights for different tiers that are uploaded to social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. These are meant to be short and sweet and only require one QC and GP check each.

Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that amchecks are currently not allowed on The Flying Press articles and Social Media Spotlights due to their time sensitive nature, but you are welcome to practice on analyses in the C&C forum!

Useful Links
  • The Spelling and Grammar Standards is a full list of the criteria the GP team follows (we suggest bookmarking it). If you've lurked here on Smogon for a while, a lot of the common terms and usage of the terms should be somewhat second-nature by now, which is a huge benefit. If you haven't lurked very much, not to worry; this is a task that becomes easier with experience because there's a lot of repetition. It won't take long to catch on even though it may seem like a ton.
  • fleurdyleurse has compiled an extensive list of notes for new GPers to use as a reference as well. It can be found here.
  • A guide to making subjective GP changes can be found here.
  • The GP Team Queue is where analyses that are ready for the GP phase are listed; the list of links in the OP is an automated list of every analysis currently waiting for GP checks. Although you can go and search for analyses to practice on yourself, this thread will help you find an analysis much easier.
  • If you've done a few amchecks already and are interested in joining the GP team, consider signing up for tutoring to receive more involved and thorough feedback here. An official GPer will be assigned to you and will help mentor you by answering any questions you may have and looking over your amchecks.
Applying Your Knowledge As Contribution

Before being accepted as an official member of the GP team, you'll obviously need to prove that you have what it takes to fit the bill. The best way to show your skills here is to do what we call amchecks, or amateur checks. These can be posted in any analysis after it reaches the Copyediting phase as indicated by the thread tag. The writer is not required to implement your changes, but they are allowed to, and it's not uncommon for an official GPer to come behind you and validate your work or give you a few pointers to help you improve. Keep in mind, however, that your amchecks do not count as official checks and thus do not count toward the completion of the Copyediting phase, unless an official GPer stamps your work to indicate that it is satisfactory (which is huge if that happens). However, official GPers will not always go over amchecks and may go on and just post an official one. Remember that you cannot leave placeholders for amchecks, as they are not official; also, make sure the writer knows it's an amcheck to avoid confusion.

When you do checks of your own, you'll want to do is establish a key at the top of your amcheck post first and foremost, which indicates what colors mean to add and remove content, and you can use them to indicate other things as well, including side comments, capitalization, and so on.

An example courtesy of Milak of this is as follows:

[OVERVIEW]

Zangoose is one of the most effective wall breakers and late-game sweepers in the NU metagame. Zangoose also shines as one of the best possible sweepers for Sticky Web-based teams. After just a single turn needed to activate toxic boost, Zangoose has more initial power than most Pokemon in the tier. Its power can be bolstered further with Swords Dance, although Zangoose's poor bulk and lack of resistnces makes it difficlut for it to find a time to set up. This forces Zangoose to rely on double switches, and pivoting moves in order to switch in safely. Despite Zangoose's excellent offensive moves in Facade, Knock Off, and Close Combat Zangoose's base 90 speed is merely above-average. Thankfully, Quick Attack and Sticky Web support can make up for this flaw, making Zangoose one of the top offensive threats in the tier.

[OVERVIEW]

Zangoose is one of the most effective wall breakers wallbreakers and late-game sweepers in the NU metagame,(replace period with comma) Zangoose and it also shines as one of the best possible sweepers for Sticky Web-based teams (you should probably add Sticky Web users to Team Options below). After just a single turn needed to activate toxic boost Toxic Boost, Zangoose has more initial power than most Pokemon in the tier. Its power can be bolstered further with Swords Dance, although Zangoose's poor bulk and lack of resistnces resistances makes it difficlut difficult for it to find a time to set up. This forces Zangoose to rely on double switches,(RC) and pivoting moves in order to switch in safely. Despite Zangoose's excellent offensive moves in Facade, Knock Off, and Close Combat,(AC) its Zangoose's base 90 speed Speed is merely above-(remove dash, add space)average (even for NU haha). Thankfully, Quick Attack and Sticky Web support can make up for this flaw, making Zangoose one of the top offensive threats in the tier.

As you might have guessed, (AC) and (RC) are short for add comma and remove comma, respectively. These are commonly used at Smogon in addition to the punctuation change simply because a color change on something so small can be easy to overlook otherwise. Comments you make, as indicated by your key, are not implemented and you can use them to convey thoughts you have throughout the read as you are checking. The example comment here regarding adding Sticky Web to Team Options is assuming that the writer left it out, and their mention of Sticky Web mitigating one of Zangoose's flaws is a good place to bring that to their attention.

You can personalize the colors you use to an extent, but it's best to stick with something close to blue for additions, red for removals, and then something like green or purple for comments. This is best for the sake of readability and consistency for our writers trying to implement.

Once you have done a fair amount of solid amchecks, generally 10 or so and possibly stamped, you can submit an application to join the GP team by messaging Astra, Lumari, and Rabia a submission including proof of your GP abilities. They will either tell you how you can improve, ask for more examples before they come to a decision, or add you to the GP team. If you'd like for an official GPer to look over your work, you can inquire about this in #questions on the GP Discord, which can be found here. The GP Discord is the best way to meet other GPers and amcheckers as well as recieve feedback and answers from others. You can post here in this thread if you want to be tutored or contact a GPer over Discord if you would like them to go over some of your amchecks:
Time to Practice!

Below are some exercises that contain several errors. Test yourself here first if you'd like by providing GP editions of these examples to correct where they are wrong. Some have more identifiable mistakes than others, and some may need to be completely reworded. To receive feedback, simply provide your corrections as a response to this thread!

Disclaimer: Some of these exercises were taken from published work on Smogon. We trust you to work with pure honesty, using your own judgement only; of course, practice is the key and making mistakes will only help you gain more confidence. So don't hesitate to ask if you're unsure!

Furthermore, we will provide additional material when we feel it's needed for you to work on. A GPer will then try reviewing the amchecks and spot the more common mistakes, giving tips and tricks on how to become better at noticing them as well as helping you improve flow and avoid making subjective changes when it's not needed.

Torterras niche largely comes from it's good coverage, access to Rock Polish and solid natural bulk making it a functional sweeper in the lategame that can be difficult to take down without super-effective coverage. Torterra can also support its team as a breaker in matchups where sweeping is unlikely which gives it some flexibility. Unfortunately, Torterra's low speed makes it incredibly reliant on obtaining a Rock Polish boost to not be immediately threatened by the myriad of Pokemon who are faster than it, such as Aerodactyl, Sigilyph, Sneasel and Delphox. Additionally, despite Torterras great coverage, it struggles greatly with Pokemon like Weezing and Dhelmise who are to bulky to overwhelm without Swords Dance. Torterra is also marred by a neutrality to Water and a severe weakness to Scald which maekes it less splashable given the opportunity cost of using it over other, more consistent Grass Types like Whimsicott and Sceptile.

Scald is reliable STAB that possesses a chance to make Slowbro even more difficult to take down with physical attacks and threatens Fire, Rock, and Ground-types like Delphox, Rhydon, Steelix and Palossand. Scald becomes Hydro Vortex when used alongside Waterium-Z and enables Slowbro to break past even Grasses like Sceptile and Whimsicott as well as opposing Slowbros with the help of Calm Mind. Block is the crux of the set and lets Slowbro trap passive Pokemon like Audino-Mega, Ferroseed, and Miltank as well as bulky Waters like Vaporeon, Blastoise, and Defensive Slowbro. Calm Mind allows Slowbro to better take on Special Attackers like Diancie, Comfey and Whimsicott. Rest restores all of Slowbro's hp and clears it of any status from Pokemon like Xatu, Vaporeon, and Seismitoad, making it difficult to wear down once it gets multiple boosts from Calm Mind. Additionally it lets Slowbro reliably trap and eliminate Pokemon such as Audino-Mega, Vaporeon, and Miltank, which rely on Toxic to defeat bulky Waters and enables Slowbro to pp-stall Water immunities Pokemon like Vaporeon and Seismitoed.

Utility Talonflame fits on Balance and Bulky Offense teams that appreciate it spreading burns and punishing opposing pivots, namely Slither Wing and Scizor. It can form a potent Volt-turn core with teammates like Sandy Shocks and Slither Wing to pressure opposing teams. Talonflame cannot safely switchin against several dangerous physical attackers like Tyranitar and Gyarados, making bulky teammates like Hippowdon and Wo Chien desirable. Talonflame struggles against powerful Electric-Types like Sandy Shocks and Kilowattrel, making Gastrodon and Hippowdon good teammates. Tsareena is a valuable teammate which provides hazard removal, letting Talonflame drop Defog for other utility moves, and checks the bulky Water-Types that Talonflame hates.

Quiver Dance + Terastallization make Frosmoth one of NeverUsed's deadliest sweepers. Despite its mediocre coverage, it can use Tera Ground alongside Tera Blast to beat Steel-types like Copperrajah and Perrserker, as well as Muk. In addition, Tera Ground gives Frosmoth a Rock resist so Lycanroc's Accelerock can't revenge-kill Frosmoth. Alternatively, Frosmoth can drop Giga Drain and run Substitute with Tera Ghost to 1v1 Chansey and abuse Choice Scarf Passimian and Medicham that lock into Close Combat. Another option is Tera Fairy, blocking Eelektross' Dragon Tail and still helping against Choice Scarf Passimian as well as Mabbosstiff. Special Walls like Assault Vest Eelektross, Chansey, or Ursaring are difficult for Frosmoth to 1v1 depending on its Tera Type, and others like Copperajah, AV Perrserker, and Muk aren't 1HKOed by +1 Ground Tera Blast, pair Frosmoth with special wallbreakers such as Zoroark, Abomasnow and Pyroar to soften up these checks. Also, Frosmoth is quite vulnerable to common Scarfers like Passimian, Mabosstiff, and Medicham even at +1 without the proper Tera Type, making defensive switchins to them such as Qwilfish, Dachsbun, and Drifblim good to have.

Choice Band Rayquaza is one of the strongest wallbreakers in the tier thanks to its high Attack and high base power moves. Dragon Ascent is Rayquaza's main stab of choice, 2HKO'ing prominent Defensive walls such as Clefable and Slowking. V-Create lets Rayquaza overpower Pokemon who resist Dragon Ascent such as Necrozma-Dusk-Mane, Corviknight, Skarmory, and Zamazenta-Crowned. ExtremeSpeed allows Rayquaza to finish off chipped Pokemon like Weavile, Tapu Koko, and Raichu-Alolan. Earthquake still dents Zamazenta-Crowned and Excadrill without lowering Rayquaza's stats and also provides coverage against Tyranitar Tapu-Koko, and Heatran. However, EQ is significantly weaker and fails to 2HKO physical defensive Necrozma-Dusk-Mane. Scale Shot is another option which turns Rayquaza into a potential lategame cleaner thanks to its Speed boost and it gives it a chance to break Lunala but it suffers from inconsistent damage; Outrage is an option for burst damage against bulkier threats like Giratina and Zekrom but locking Rayquaza into it for 2 to 3 turns is a steep penalty if any Fairy types remain on the opposing side.

Corviknight has a wide range of other possible Abilities. Dauntless Shield, especially in conjunction with Body Press, is another option for defensive sets. It does slightly better in some match ups, like not letting Heatran in for free, but it does not provide the same amount of support as Intimidate and it is much worse at checking Zarude. Mummy is another option over Wandering Spirit, but does not let Corviknight steal Regenerator for itself. Regenerator makes it a more effective pivot, but comes at the cost of being unable to directly switch into the strongest Physical Attackers. Magic Bounce allows it to deny hazards and status moves, and Unaware lets it block set up attempts more reliably. Primordial Sea is an option over Flash Fire to still check Mold Breaker Heatran, but this comes at the cost of taking increased damage from Water moves and lets Desolate Land Heatran switch into it much easier.

Arceus-Poison is a niche sweeper and Xerneas check in Generation 7 Anything Goes. Being a Moonblast resist and only weak to rare Psychic type coverage from Xernaes, Arceus Poison switches into most variants to set up and/or land Poison Jab. Like all Arcues forms, SD and ESpeed allow it to sweep through teams. Although Poison type coverage is poor overall, and Poison Jab is weak - Arceus Poison cant run Judgment because Xerneas’ Geomancy would weaken it. Further, not running Earthquake means Primal Groudon hard-walls it, and not running Recover means it will live less long as a Xerneas check.

Scald is a reliable STAB move that possesses a chance to make Slowbro even more difficult to take down with physical attacks can inflict burns ("can inflict burns" would be easier to read) and threatens Fire-, Rock- and Ground-type Pokemon like Delphox, Steelix, Rhydon, and Palossand., Scald becomes Hydro Vortex when used alongside Waterium-Z and enables Slowbro to break past even Grasses like Sceptile and Whimsicott as well as opposing Slowbros with the help of Calm Mind. and with a Waterium Z it becomes Hydro Vortex, enabling Slowbro to OHKO or severely dent even bulky or Water-resistant foes with some boosts. Hello there i farded fish and Tranquility, glad to see your interest in GP! I will be going over your exercises today.

You seem to have a decent grasp of the Spelling & Grammar Standards as well as Smogon terminology as a whole, so that's great. The main things you need to be careful of are not merging sentences unnecessarily, not changing the meaning of what the author is trying to convey, and refraining from making too many subjective changes. You also correctly included some serial commas but missed a few others, so make sure you're double checking over your work. It can also be a little tough to notice some of your comma and hyphen additions, so I recommend marking them with (AC) and (AH), which stand for Add Comma and Add Hyphen, respectively. I'd love to see you practice more with this feedback in mind, and feel free to DM me if you have any questions!

(Grass-types, no hyphen between Waterium and Z)
So this sentence becomes a bit of a run-on now that you've merged these two sentences with a comma, so keep an eye on that. It would've been best to keep them as two individual sentences. If a sentence already conveys a complete thought, there is no need to merge it with another. You also changed the meaning of the second sentence slightly with your change by getting rid of the Grass-type examples, the Slowbro mention, and the Calm Mind mention. The more clarity in an analysis the better, so avoid changing up the way sentences are worded just for the sake of doing so. You did add the serial comma after Rhydon, which is great, but there should be a comma after Rock- as well for the same reason. Good job adding the hyphens after each type though!

Block is the crux of this set and (Fluff) lets Slowbro trap passive Pokemon like Audino-Mega Mega Audino, Ferroseed and Miltank as well as bulky Water-types like Vaporeon, Blastoise, and Defensive opposing Slowbro. (Most Slowbro are defensive, don't capitalize "defensive")
Good job removing the fluff in the first part of this sentence and changing Audino-Mega to Mega Audino, but this is another example of where a serial comma should be used: after Ferroseed. There's also another instance here of you changing the meaning of the writing; saying defensive Slowbro highlights that specifically, while saying opposing Slowbro is much more general and may not be completely accurate.

Calm Mind allows Slowbro to better take on Special special attackers (Shouldn't be capitalized) like Diancie, Comfey, and Whimsicott.
Good changes here!

Rest restores all of Slowbro's hp and clears it of any status from Pokemon like Xatu, Vaporeon, and Seismitoad Slowbro to full health and heals status effects (A bit long, HP should be capitalized), making it difficult to wear down once it gets multiple Calm Mind boosts., Additionally it lets Slowbro as well as allowing it to reliably trap and eliminate Pokemon such as Audino-Mega Mega Audino, Vaporeon and Miltank which rely on Toxic, to defeat bulky Waters, (Water-types) and enables Slowbro to pp-stall PP stall (no hyphen, capitalize PP) Water immunities Pokemon Water Absorb users ("Water-immune Pokemon", not "Water immunities Pokemon") like Vaporeon and Seismitoed Seismitoad.
You made this into another run-on sentence by merging the two sentences with commas, so same as the instance beforehand. You also removed some clarity by taking out the mentions of Xatu, Vaporeon, and Seismitoad; the author wanted to mention them specifically. There should also be another serial comma after Vaporeon. "Which" should also always have a comma in front of it.

I went over just Corviknight for now, but you can look over my feedback on Slowbro for i farded fish as well. You did a nice job prompting the writer to expand on certain parts of the writing by asking for examples, which is a good way to add clarity. Just be careful to not remove too much info unnecessarily or reword parts of sentences just for the sake of it. You also have to be careful with sentence structure and certain things from the Spelling and Grammar Standards, so be sure to give those a look when you have some time. I recommend having the page open in another tab while you're checking so you can easily reference it when you need it. Feel free to shoot me a DM with any questions; I look forward to seeing more from you!

Corviknight can also run a wide variety of other abilities has a wide range of other possible Abilities. Dauntless Shield, especially in conjunction with Body Press, is another option for defensive sets as it can better check Heatran with Body Press.
Good job making "abilities" lowercase, but there wasn't really a need to reword anything in either of these sentences, so be careful to not reword something just for the sake of doing so. Also, the word "as" should always have a comma in front of it when it's used to mean "because". You also marked your periods in red for removal, so be careful with your colors.

It does slightly better in some match ups, like not letting Heatran in for free, but it does not provide the same amount of support as Intimidate and it is much worse at checking Zarude. Mummy is another option over Wandering Spirit, but does not let Corviknight steal Regenerator for itself (Sentence not needed as Mummy is straight up inferior to Wandering Spirit).
Moving the mention of Heatran to the other sentence is an okay change, but by doing so you also removed the mention of Zarude. Also, it's fine to keep the Mummy mention here just so writers know that it's another option, especially considering this is an AAA analysis. It's important to not remove any QC-related content or important info that the author wants to specify without first consulting the QC team or asking for clarification beforehand; the more clarity the better!

Regenerator makes Corviknight it a more effective pivot, but is more prone to strong physical attackers like x, y, z (List things that could take advantage of Regen Corv). comes at the cost of being unable to directly switch into the strongest Physical Attackers .
Saying "but is more prone..." doesn't work here because of the comma before "but", which is a conjunction. You'd want to add "it" to have it say "but it is more prone...", letting the second part of the sentence stand on its own just like the first. Asking a writer to add examples is a good way to add more clarity to an analysis!

Magic Bounce allows it to deny hazards and status moves (Maybe list a couple of targets it bounces?), and while Unaware lets it negate block set up attempts (From things like..) more reliably.
It should be "entry hazards" instead of just "hazards" here, and then after the first mention of "entry hazards" in a paragraph or section, additional uses can be shortened to just "hazards". You'd want to change "set up attempts" to "setup attempts" here. When you are using the verb form "to set up", that's when you'd keep the space.

Primordial Sea is an alternative option over Flash Fire to still check Mold Breaker Heatran, but this comes at the expense cost of taking increased damage from Water moves and lets Desolate Land Heatran switch into it much easier.
Removing "this" also creates an error, similar to what I mentioned before with adding the word "it". Removing "this" essentially makes the second part of the sentence unable to stand on its own. If you wanted to remove the word "this", you'd also have to remove the comma before "but" as well. "Water moves" should be "Water-type moves", always spell out typings. Only exception is in Monotype analyses with [TYPE] teams. "Much easier" should be "more easily" at the end here, as "easier" is an adjective and "more easily" is an adverb.

Torterras niche largely comes from it's good coverage, access to Rock Polish, (AC) and solid natural bulk making it a functional sweeper in the late-game (AH) that can be difficult to take down without super-effective (RH) coverage. Torterra can also support its team as a breaker in matchups where sweeping is unlikely, (AC) which gives it some flexibility. Unfortunately, Torterra's low speed makes it incredibly reliant on obtaining a Rock Polish boost to not be immediately threatened by the myriad of Pokemon who are faster than it, such as Aerodactyl, Sigilyph, Sneasel, (AC) and Delphox. Additionally, despite Torterras great coverage, it struggles greatly with Pokemon like Weezing and Dhelmise who are too to bulky to overwhelm without Swords Dance. Torterra is also marred by a neutrality to Water and a severe weakness to Scald which makes maekes it less usable splashable given the opportunity cost of using it over other, (RC) more consistent Grass types Types like Whimsicott and Sceptile.
Arceus-Poison is a niche sweeper and Xerneas check in SM Generation 7 Anything Goes. watch out for apostrophe absence/misuse (Torterras, it's), capitalizing stats like Speed, and putting a hyphen in types like Grass-type. note that super-effective (RH) is ambiguous; space or no space? i like to just make the change and put the whole phrase in blue

We don't say "in the late-game" because these terms are adjectives and adverbs, not nouns, so you would just say "late-game". Saying just "breaker" is ambiguous because that could mean either wallbreaker or stallbreaker, so it's important to decipher between the two. In this instance it should be changed to wallbreaker. We never use "who" to refer to Pokemon, only "which", "that", or "it". So these examples should say "myriad of Pokemon that are faster than it..." and "Pokemon like Weezing and Dhelmise that are too bulky to...". Also, the word "which" should always have a comma preceding it. We never use "resists" as a noun, so "Moonblast resist" wouldn't work here. Saying [POKEMON] resists [x] or something along those lines is more appropriate. You'd want to change "and/or" to say one or the other depending on the context, I would probably default to using "or" here. The word "forms" should be "formes" when talking about different Pokemon formes. "Further" should be "Furthermore". I would also change "hard-walls" to just say "walls" because it's essentially the same thing. But yeah other than that like Cryo said, just watch out for apostrophe usage, making sure to capitalize stats, and adding hyphens for typings.

You guessed it, it's my first time. How did I do?

To add onto what Cryo said about Base Power, it should be "high-Base Power" with a hyphen. Besides just "which", we refer to Pokemon using "that" or "it" as well. So in place of "who" you would use one of those pronouns depending on the context. Tapu Koko should also not be hyphenated. "2 to 3 turns" should be spelled out to say "two to three turns". Always write out numbers when talked about in a generalized context. Tiers should be abbreviated, so you can change "NeverUsed" to just "NU". We don't use the term "1v1" in that context, it should be changed to say "one-on-one". Instead of "abuse" you can use another word or phrase like "take advantage of" or "utilize", depending on the context. The sentence starting with "Because special walls..." is a bit of a run-on, I'd suggest changing that comma before "pair" to a semicolon to still keep the two sentences connected in thought while still being grammatically correct. Then keep the beginning of that sentence as "Special walls like..". Also, "+1 Tera Blast Ground" should be something like "+1 Ground-type Tera Blast". But yeah, overall great understanding and grasp of the Spelling & Grammar Standards!

Corviknight has a wide range of other possible Abilities abilities. Dauntless Shield, especially in conjunction with Body Press, is another option for defensive sets. It does slightly better in some match ups matchups, like not letting Heatran in for free, but it does not provide the same amount of support as Intimidate and it is much worse at checking Zarude. Mummy is another option over Wandering Spirit, but it does not let Corviknight steal Regenerator for itself. Regenerator makes it Corviknight a more effective pivot, but it comes at the cost of being making it unable to directly switch into the strongest Physical Attackers strong physical attackers like?. Magic Bounce allows it Corviknight to deny entry hazards and status moves from?, and while Unaware lets it block set up ignore setup attempts from? more reliably. Primordial Sea is an option over Flash Fire to still check Mold Breaker Heatran, but this it comes at the cost of taking increased damage from Water Water-type moves and lets Desolate Land Heatran switch into it much easier.

Scald is a reliable STAB move (good) that possesses a chance to make Slowbro even more difficult to take down with physical attacks to burn foes, (AC) (comma is not needed here; the entire section you marked in red should be shortened but should maintain the point of the text, which is that it ruins physical attackers) and threatens the (not needed) Fire-, Rock-, and Ground-types like Delphox, Rhydon, Steelix and Palossand of the tier (don't remove info, it was good how it was before but note there should be a comma after "Steelix"). Scald becomes Hydro Vortex when used alongside Waterium-Z and No need to specify (good) enables Slowbro to break past even Grasses-types (good) like Sceptile, (AC) and Whimsicott, (AC) as well as and Water-types such as (this doesn't work, see below) opposing Slowbros (great catch) with the help of Calm Mind. Block is the crux of the set and used to lets Slowbro Avoid using "crux" trap passive Pokemon like Mega Audino-Mega, Ferroseed, and Miltank as well as bulky Waters-types like Vaporeon, Blastoise, and Ddefensive Slowbro (great job up to here), (AC) which your own Slowbro can use to set up on (don't add new content when GPing; sometimes people do if they're QC as well, so you may have picked up this bad habit watching me with RBY lower tiers, sorry!). Calm Mind allows Slowbro to better take on Sspecial Aattackers like Diancie, Comfey, (AC) and Whimsicott., (RP) (AC) (excellent changes except I dont think you need to combine these sentences and it makes the next part drag on) and Rest restores all of Slowbro's hp HP and clears it of any status (this is dex info, what I'd do is tell the writer to describe why this is useful instead of naming what the move does) from Pokemon like Xatu, Vaporeon, and Seismitoad, making it difficult to wear down once it gets multiple boosts from Calm Mind (I like this change for brevity). Additionally, (AC) it lets Slowbro reliably trap and eliminate Pokemon such as Audino-Mega If this is left in, put Mega before Audino, and remove the hyphen, Vaporeon, and Miltank, (this should be left in, but good catch on the Mega and the earlier comma) which rely on Toxic to defeat bulky Waters Slowbro and enables Slowbro it to pp PP- (RH) stall Water immunities (again don't cut things like "bulky Waters" and instead just correct it to Water-types; for "water immunities" I'd go with "Water-immune foes/Pokemon." Also a comma should be after "bulky Waters" because the "which" part is a nonrestrictive clause in the middle of a sentence) Pokemon like Vaporeon and Seismitoed that have a Water immunity. Make immunity refer to the trait rather than to the Pokemon

Explanations for some things:
Commas are only needed in situations like the first place you added one when used to connect two independent clauses. This means both parts of the sentence stand on their own. So for example:
"Scald is a reliable move, and hits XYZ." (incorrect)
"Scald is a reliable move, and it hits XYZ." (correct)

"enables Slowbro to break past even Grass-types like Sceptile, Whimsicott, and Water-types such as"
Your change made this incorrect. Leaving it as "Grass-types like Sceptile and Whimsicott and Water-types such as..." worked fine. Learning when not to make changes is a skill too :)

Overall this is an excellent first check, there's just a few nuances missing and a couple little overlooked things!

WrathoftheLeopard I scanned over the four exercises you did briefly; most of your changes are really great! I encourage you to try your hand at amchecking, and once you've done a couple, you could sign up for tutoring if you're still interested.

bea I included your feedback below.
Good changes overall, I just left comments on the sentences that needed addressing. Just be careful with your comma usage and also double check over your changes after you make them to try and minimize the errors that you're introducing accidentally.

Scald becomes Hydro Vortex when used alongside Waterium-Z, (AC) and enables Slowbro to break past even Grass-types Grasses like Sceptile and Whimsicott, (AC) as well as opposing Slowbros with the help of Calm Mind.
A couple of things in this sentence to point out. First off, Waterium Z shouldn't have a hyphen. Second, the commas here are unnecessary. Commas should be used to connect two independent clauses, which the second part of this sentence is not. See Sabelette's example in the above post. Third, "Slowbros" should just be "Slowbro". The plural of a Pokemon is always treated as the singular of that Pokemon. One Slowbro, two Slowbro, etc.

Block is the crux of the set and lets Slowbro trap passive Pokemon like Mega Audino Audino-Mega, Ferroseed, and Miltank as well as bulky Water-types Waters like Vaporeon, Blastoise, and defensive Defensive Slowbro.
Good job removing the fluff at the beginning of this sentence, but you forgot to remove "is". "Block is lets..." Always make sure to double check your changes! The rest of your changes here are great.

Additionally, (AC) it lets Slowbro reliably trap and faint eliminate Pokemon such as Mega Audino Audino-Mega, Vaporeon, and Miltank, which rely on Toxic to defeat bulky Water-types Waters and enables Slowbro to PP Stall pp-stall Water immune immunities Pokemon like Vaporeon and Seimsitoad Seismitoed.
Good job adding that comma! But there was no need to change "eliminate" to "faint". We just don't use "killed" when talking about Pokemon fainting, except in "revenge kill". There should be a comma after "bulky Water-types" because the part starting with "which" is a nonrestrictive clause. Capitalizing "PP" in PP stall is a good change, but "stall" should be lowercase. "Water immune" should be hyphenated to say "Water-immune Pokemon", but you were on the right track. Also, I noticed you tried to correct the spelling of Seismitoad, but you misspelled it in a different way. Always double check your work!

Extreme (add a space) Speed allows Rayquaza to finish off chipped Pokemon like Weavile, Tapu Koko, and Alolan Raichu Raichu-Alolan. Earthquake is an alternative to V-create, which lets Rayquaza still dents Zamazenta-Crowned and Excadrill without lowering Rayquaza's its stats, (AC) while and also providinges coverage against Tyranitar, Tapu-Koko, and Heatran. However, EarthquakeQ is significantly weaker, leading to it and failings to 2HKO physically defensive Necrozma-Dusk-Mane. Scale Shot is another option, which turnings Rayquaza into a potential lategame cleaner thanks to its Scale Shot's Speed boost while givinges it a chance to break through Lunala; however, it suffers from inconsistent damage;. (remove semicolon, AP) Outrage is an option for burst damage against bulkier threats like Giratina and Zekrom;, although but locking Rayquaza into it for 2 to 3 turns is a steep penalty if any Fairy-types remain on the opposing side.

Corviknight has a wide range of other possible aAbilities. Dauntless Shield, especially in conjunction with Body Press, is another option for defensive sets. While doing It does slightly better in some match (remove space) ups, like not letting Heatran in for free, but it does not provide the same amount of support as Intimidate and it is much worse at checking Zarude. Mummy is another option over Wandering Spirit, (fluff) but does not let Corviknight steal Regenerator for itself. Regenerator makes it a more effective pivot, (RC) but comes at the cost of being unable to directly switch into the strongest Pphysical Aattackers what physical attackers are you talking about? . Magic Bounce allows it Corviknight to deny entry hazards and status moves, and while Unaware lets it block set (remove space) up attempts from what? more reliably. Primordial Sea is an option over Flash Fire to still better (I assume that's what this meant) check Mold Breaker Heatran, but this comes at the cost of taking increased damage from Water-type moves and lets Desolate Land Heatran switch into it much easier.

Arceus-Poison is a niche sweeper and Xerneas check in Generation 7 Anything Goes. Being a Resisting Moonblast resist and while only being weak to rare Psychic-type coverage from Xernaes Xerneas, Arceus-Poison can switches into most variants to set up and/or land a Poison Jab. Like all Arcues Arceus forms, SD and ESpeed Swords Dance and Extreme Speed allow it Arceus-Poison to sweep through (perhaps weakened would fit better here) teams. Although Poison-type coverage is poor overall, and Poison Jab is Arceus-Poison's STAB move of choice despite its lackluster power. weak - Arceus-Poison cannott afford to run Judgment because Xerneas’ Geomancy would weaken it to a non-threatening level. (what does Poison Jab do?). Furthermore, not running Earthquake means Primal Groudon hard-walls it, while and not running Recover means it will live less long as a Xerneas check be unable to check Xerneas repeatedly.

Torterra's niche largely comes from it's good coverage, access to Rock Polish, and solid natural bulk, making it a functional sweeper in the late-game that can be difficult to take down without super-effective coverage. (Run-on sentence.) Torterra can also support it's team as a breaker (Did you mean a stall or wall-breaker instead?) in matchups where sweeping is unlikely, which gives it some flexibility. Unfortunately, Torterra's low speed makes it incredibly reliant on obtaining a Rock Polish boost to not be immediately threatened by the myriad of Pokemon who are faster than it, such as Aerodactyl, Sigilyph, Sneasel, and Delphox. Additionally, despite Torterra's great coverage, it struggles greatly with Pokemon like Weezing and Dhelmise who are too bulky to overwhelm without Swords Dance. Torterra is also marred by a neutrality to Water and a severe weakness to Scald, which maekes it less splashable given the opportunity cost of using it over other, more consistent Grass-tTypes like Whimsicott and Sceptile.

- "breaker" on its own is unclear, always make sure the writer specifies what kind of breaker the Pokemon is, i.e. wallbreaker or stallbreaker.
- no need to change "which gives" to "giving": they are functionally equivalent.
- in this case, I think Speed > speed. The mention of Rock Polish to ME says this is specifically talking about the stat itself..
- "neutrality to Water" (or any typing) is accepted phrasing. You only really need to look at fixing type-related terms when it's like "Waters like...", "Water resists", etc.
- like earlier, "which makes" = "making".

Scald is reliable STAB move that possesses a chance to make makes Slowbro even more difficult to take down with resistant to physical attacks and threatens Fire, Rock, Fire-, Rock-, and Ground-types like Delphox, Rhydon, Steelix, add comma and Palossand. - missed in the first sentence "Scald is reliable STAB move" needs an article before "reliable".
- I'd leave "even Grass-types" there just because it emphasizes that Hydro Vortex turns resistant foes into death fodder. I think the condensing overall is done well, though.
- missed "Defensive", remember that you never capitalize set names in the prose---only in the set name itself.
- missed typo of "Seismitoed" at the very end. I think breaking this last sentence into two is effective to prevent it from being too much of a run-on.

- in the Tsareena sentence, you missed a chance to change "which" to "that". Recall as well that the former works with non-restrictive clauses, meaning if the content that follows isn't necessary to retain the sentence's meaning, then you use "which" instead of "that" and set it aside with a comma.
- "and checks the" is fine to keep there; it works the same as "as well as checking".

- a + sign is acceptable in analyses when referring to a combination of two things.
- remember that we prefer to shorten format names when possible, so NU > NeverUsed.
- your change from "Rock resist" is good, but "Rock resistance" is the simpler edit.
- saying "drop [x move]" is allowed.
- remember that when talking about an ideal scenario where a Pokemon defeats another, you say "one-on-one", not "1v1".
- always remember that you NEED an apostrophe + s to indicate something is plural when the object is singular---even if it already ends in an s. So, it'd be "Eelektross's".
- Tera type, not Tera Type.
- "good to have" is the same as "good teammates".

In general I notice a trend of very small rephrasings that seem designed to get a very small character count decrease. I couldn't rationalize out a decent amount of them beyond that, so I'd advise that when you are doing single-word removals or replacements that you make sure to ask yourself "why am I making this edit?". If the answer is just to shorten the prose, odds are it's fine to leave as is. The main key to understanding when a sentence (or paragraph) needs condensing is if you find yourself losing track of where you were repeatedly when reading. That shows the writing is perhaps going a bit all over the place; look then for specific instances where the phrasing is awkward or where the writer keeps a sentence going forever.

Your foundation is solid. So far I see a clear effort has been made to learn the standards thread and specific terminology. Just remember a few key ones, such as "one-on-one" and any related to Terastallization. Keep up the good work.

Choice Band Rayquaza is one of the strongest wallbreakers in the tier thanks to its high Attack and high base power hard-hitting moves. Dragon Ascent is Rayquaza's main stab STAB move of choice, 2HKO'ing (no apostophe here) prominent Ddefensive (defensive walls is redundant) walls such as Clefable and Slowking. V-Ccreate lets Rayquaza overpower Pokemon who (don't use "who" to refer to pokemon, use "that") resist Dragon Ascent, such as Necrozma-Dusk-Mane, Corviknight, Skarmory, and Zamazenta-Crowned. Extreme (add a space) Speed allows Rayquaza to finish off chipped Pokemon like Weavile, Tapu Koko, and Alolan Raichu Raichu-Alolan. Earthquake is an alternative to V-create, which lets Rayquaza (should be "that" instead of which, and remove comma, since it is restrictive here still dents Zamazenta-Crowned and Excadrill without lowering Rayquaza's its stats, (comma should not be here since it means at the same time here) (AC) while and also providinges coverage against Tyranitar, Tapu-Koko, and Heatran. However, EarthquakeQ is significantly weaker, leading to it (eh, just saying failing should be fine here) and failings to 2HKO physically defensive Necrozma-Dusk-Mane. Scale Shot is another option, which turnings Rayquaza into a potential lategame (late-game, not late game) cleaner thanks to its Scale Shot's Speed boost while givinges it a chance to break through Lunala; however, it suffers from inconsistent damage;.

Mummy is another option over Wandering Spirit, (fluff) but does not let Corviknight steal Regenerator for itself. Magic Bounce allows it Corviknight to deny entry hazards and status moves, and while Unaware lets it block set (remove space) up (incorrect, this was fine as is since its used as a compound noun) attempts from what? more reliably.

Like all Arcues Arceus forms, SD and ESpeed Swords Dance and Extreme Speed allow it Arceus-Poison to sweep through (perhaps weakened would fit better here) teams. Although Poison-type coverage is poor overall, (removing comma is wrong since you put one if the sentence starts with a subordinating conjunction) and Poison Jab is Arceus-Poison's STAB move of choice despite its lackluster power. (could combine this with the next sentence) weak - Arceus-Poison cannott afford to run Judgment because Xerneas’ Geomancy would weaken it to a non-threatening level. (what does Poison Jab do?). Furthermore, not running Earthquake means Primal Groudon hard-walls (hyphen is wrong here) it, while and not running Recover means it will live less long as a Xerneas check be unable to check Xerneas repeatedly.
