Floatzel leverages the nuclear power of its Choice Band Tera Water Wave Crash under rain to be one of the archetype's most potent wallbreakers, capable of 2HKOing even problematic bulky Water-resistant Pokemon like Toxapex, Rotom-W, and Amoonguss. Moreover, its naturally high Speed tier alongside Swift Swim lets Floatzel outspeed the whole unboosted metagame under rain, giving it an edge against offensive teams by outpacing and threatening boosted frail threats like Dragapult, Volcarona, and every Speed-boosting Booster Energy Pokemon, such as Iron Valiant, Iron Moth, and Walking Wake. Liquidation is a safer attack to keep Floatzel healthy when Wave Crash's power isn't necessary, such as against weak and neutral targets like Great Tusk, Gholdengo, and Skeledirge, and is the preferred attack to clean up late-game once the opposition is weakened enough. Aqua Jet picks off faster and boosted foes especially if rain isn't active, such as Iron Moth, Volcarona, and Tera Flying Roaring Moon, and outprioritizes Kingambit's Sucker Punch and Ceruledge's Shadow Sneak. Ice Spinner complements Floatzel's STAB moves to reliably hit the likes of Dragonite, Dragapult, Amoonguss, and Water Absorb Clodsire.

Floatzel is exclusively found on offensive rain teams. Pelipper is a mandatory teammate to reliably set rain with Drizzle and compensate for Floatzel's frailty by bringing it in safely via U-turn. Choice Specs variants of Pelipper and other offensive rain partners like Azumarill, Walking Wake, and Greninja can keep up the pressure against the opposition, overwhelming shared checks like Dondozo, Toxapex, and Tera Water Garganacl. Ground-types like Iron Treads, Great Tusk, and Clodsire provide a necessary Electric immunity while setting entry hazards, making Dondozo and Toxapex easier to break through; Iron Treads and Great Tusk also provide Knock Off to cripple the bulky Water-types, including Alomomola and Tera Water Skeledirge, by making them susceptible to Stealth Rock as well, while Water Absorb Clodsire is a rigid defensive backbone against the likes of Azumarill, Walking Wake, and Tera Grass Volcarona, all of which can force Floatzel out. Eject Button Amoonguss can bring Floatzel in safely on Pokemon like Great Tusk, Gholdengo, Dragapult, Iron Valiant, and Ting-Lu, incapacitate foes with Spore to give it more wallbreaking opportunities, and switch into and threaten Dondozo and Tera Water Garganacl for Floatzel. Pawmot's Revival Blessing compensates for Floatzel's tendency to faint early-game from Wave Crash recoil—especially against common Rocky Helmet users like Corviknight and Amoonguss—and lets it wallbreak or even clean up in the late-game afterwards and enjoys Floatzel pressuring Great Tusk in return. Kingambit is a stellar late-game cleaner that enjoys Floatzel pressuring its checks in Great Tusk and Volcarona and overwhelming a common answer in Dondozo, as well as takes advantage of Floatzel fainting early-game from Wave Crash recoil to accumulate Supreme Overlord boosts.

Mention that it outspeeds all speed boosting booster energy pokemon. Liquidation is a safer attack to keep Floatzel healthy when Wave Crash power isn't necessary, such as against weak and neutral targets like Great Tusk, Gholdengo, and Skeledirge, and be used to clean up late-game once the opposition is weakened enough. Aqua Jet picks off faster and boosted foes especially if rain isn't active, such as Iron Moth, Volcarona, and Tera Flying Roaring Moon, and outprioritizes Kingambit's Sucker Punch and Ceruledge's Shadow Sneak. Offensive rain partners like Azumarill, Walking Wake, and Greninja can keep up the pressure against the opposition, overwhelming shared checks like Dondozo, Toxapex, and Tera Water Garganacl. Specs Pelipper can do this as well. Ground-types like Iron Treads, Great Tusk and Clodsire provides a necessary Electric immunity while setting entry hazards, which makes Dondozo and Toxapex easier to break through; Iron Treads and Great Tusk also provide Knock Off to cripple the bulky Water-types—including Alomomola and Tera Water Skeledirge, making them susceptible to Stealth Rock as well—while Water Absorb Clodsire is a rigid defensive backbone against the likes of Azumarill, Walking Wake, and Tera Grass Volcarona, all of which can force Floatzel out. Eject Button Amoonguss can bring Floatzel in safely on Pokemon like Great Tusk, Gholdengo, Dragapult, Iron Valiant and Ting-Lu and incapacitate foes with Spore to give it more wallbreaking opportunities. Should also talk about how it can come in on Dondozo, which floatzel struggles with, and can then threaten damage on Dozo or spore teammates. Pawmot's Revival Blessing compensates for Floatzel's tendency to faint early-game from Wave Crash recoil—especially against common Rocky Helmet users like Corviknight and Amoonguss—for it to wallbreak again and even clean up late-game afterwards, and it enjoys Floatzel pressuring Great Tusk in return. Mention that Kingambit is a great partner because it appreciates Floatzel's ability to pressure the things that threaten Kingambit (Tusk, Volc, Cinderace etc) and that Kingambit also appreciates floatzel dying after spamming wave crash to get Surpeme Overlord boost allowing it to clean late game.
