Earthquake is a strong STAB move and Excadrill's primary attack. Iron Head is its secondary STAB move and does more damage to Ground-resistant Pokemon. Rock Slide with Earthquake gives Excadrill EdgeQuake coverage and allows it to hit Flying-types. Rapid Spin removes entry hazards such as Spikes and Sticky Web that can otherwise overwhelm Steel-type teams. It also raises Excadrill's Speed, allowing it to still have boosted Speed while Dynamaxed. Brick Break becomes Max Knuckle after Dynamaxing and gives Excadrill an Attack boost. Mold Breaker allows Excadrill to hit Levitate users such as Rotom-W, Hydreigon, and Bronzong with Earthquake, and it can also bypass Mimikyu's Disguise. Excadrill's main roles are being a revenge killer and a late-game cleaner. It has good HP but poor defenses, so it shouldn't be switched in on powerful attacks repeatedly. Choice Scarf lets Excadrill outspeed and revenge kill a lot of threats to Steel-type teams such as +1 Gyarados, Gengar, Charizard, Hydreigon, and +1 Togekiss.
Corviknight works very well with Excadrill; Corviknight is immune to Ground-type attacks, while Excadrill is immune to Electric-type attacks. Aegislash is another good partner because it's immune to Fighting-type attacks that threaten Excadrill. Heatproof Bronzong can take Fire-type attacks for Excadrill, and it can also set up Stealth Rock to chip away at the opposing team. Ferrothorn resists Water-type attacks and can set up Spikes to damage the opposing team even more for Excadrill to clean. If lacking Rapid Spin, Bisharp can use Sticky Web to get +2 Attack.
