[SET COMMENTS]
  • Cresselia solidifies itself as one of the best support Pokemon in the metagame thanks to its wide movepool and monstrous bulk. Even the likes of Choice Band Tyranitar fail to OHKO it, which is a testament to its durability with which it can use vital support moves such as Thunder Wave and Trick Room. Cresselia is very reliant on its partners to make up for its own poor offensive presence, but Helping Hand makes up for this by boosting its partners.
  • Psychic significantly hits Fighting-types like Infernape and Hitmontop, which is useful when Cresselia is commonly paired with Fighting-weak Pokemon like Tyranitar, Rhyperior, and Heatran.
  • Thunder Wave is Cresselia's most reliable form of speed control, allowing slow Pokemon like Tyranitar and Swampert to outspeed Choice Scarf Latias.
  • Helping Hand allows Cresselia to make up for its middling offensive pressure by allowing powerful attackers like Metagross and Choice Specs Latios to KO bulky Tyranitar and chipped Cresselia. Spread move users like Heatran, Rhyperior, and Swampert also greatly appreciate the boost in order to do as much damage to opponents as quickly as possible.
  • Trick Room enables slow, bulky attackers such as Tyranitar, Rhyperior, and Metagross, as it turns their low speed into an advantage against the tier's faster threats, especially with Cresselia's Helping Hand support. Icy Wind can be used on faster teams, where it is advantageous to slow down Choice Scarf users like Rotom-A and Latios as well as other fast attackers like Raikou and Infernape.
  • Cresselia can fit a variety of other options such as dual screens to enable teammates to setup, Toxic to wear down other bulky foes, and Safeguard to help shield it and its teammates from opposing Thunder Wave. With 4 Special Attack EVs, Ice Beam is a guaranteed 3HKO on Latios, which allows Cresselia to beat Choice Scarf Latios in a one-on-one endgame scenario.
  • The HP and Defense investment along with a Defense boosting nature and Sitrus Berry allow Cresselia to take Adamant Tyranitar's Crunch and a round of sandstorm damage twice. The remaining EVs are dumped into Special Defense to better withstand the likes of Draco Meteor from Latios and Shadow Ball from Rotom-A.
  • Cresselia appreciates support from Fighting- and Steel-types, like Hitmontop, Infernape, and Metagross, that can OHKO Tyranitar, as it is one of Cresselia's worst matchups. Incidentally, Tyranitar pairs well with Cresselia, as it threatens Rotom-A and can go on a tear with Cresselia's Trick Room and Helping Hand support. Heatran and Infernape, along with other Fire-type coverage like Rotom-H's Overheat, are also useful for blasting Steel-types like Metagross, Bronzong, and Scizor, as Cresselia can't touch them. Cresselia works well early-game to spread Thunder Wave and great late-game to secure a vital Trick Room going up, but it should be especially careful of Trick from Choice Item Latios and Rotom-A if used as a lead.

Even Choice Band Tyranitar fails to OHKO it, which is a testament to its durability and effectiveness at using vital support moves such as Thunder Wave and Trick Room. It is very reliant on its partners to make up for its poor offensive presence, but this is rarely a significant drawback as DPP Doubles is full of powerful partners such as Latios, Metagross, and Tyranitar.
  • Psychic 3HKOes Hitmontop and 2HKOes Infernape, which is useful when Cresselia is commonly paired with Fighting-weak Pokemon like Tyranitar, Rhyperior, and Heatran. With 4 Special Attack EVs, Ice Beam is a guaranteed 3HKO on 4 HP Latios, which would allow Cresselia to beat Choice Scarf Latios in a one-on-one endgame scenario. i think beam kinda sucks as a mono attack, would rather see this as a mention. scenarios like whittling down a gyara or rotom matter a lot and you just twave the latios anyway
  • Thunder Wave is Cresselia's most reliable form of Speed control, allowing slow Pokemon like Rhyperior and Swampert to outspeed Choice Scarf Latias. A full paralysis can also be quite crucial in the tier's fast-paced matches.
  • Helping Hand allows Cresselia to make up for its middling offensive pressure by boosting its ally's damage output. This works especially well with powerful attackers like Choice Specs Latios and Choice Band Tyranitar for grabbing OHKOs ex slightly chipped ttar and cress? idk examples (also i think i'd use a different example than tar as that clicks rock slide and conflicts w next point, maybe rotom), as well as spread move users like Heatran, Rhyperior, and Swampert which all appreciate the compounded damage boost.
  • Trick Room can be devastating with slow, bulky attackers such as Tyranitar, Rhyperior, and Metagross, as it turns their low speed into an advantage against the tier's faster threats. Icy Wind can be used on faster teams, where it would be advantageous to slow down Choice Scarf users like Rotom-A and Latios, as well as other fast attackers like Raikou and Infernape.

  • The HP and Defense investment along with a Defense boosting nature and Sitrus Berry allow Cresselia to take Adamant Tyranitar's Crunch and a round of Sandstorm Damage twice. As mentioned previously, 4 Special Attack EVs guarantee a 3HKO on 4 HP Latios with Ice Beam.
  • Tyranitar is one of Cresselia's worst matchups, so support from Fighting-types like Hitmontop and Infernape and Steel-types like Metagross and Scizor to pressure it is appreciated. Incidentally, Tyranitar also pairs well with Cresselia as it threatens Rotom-A and can go on a tear with Cresselia's Trick Room and Helping Hand support. Heatran and Infernape, along with other Fire-coverage like Zapdos's Heat Wave or Rotom-H's Overheat are also useful for blasting Steel-types like Metagross, Bronzong, and Scizor, as Cresselia can't touch them. Cresselia works well in the early game to spread Thunder Wave and great in the late game to secure a vital Trick Room going up, but be especially careful of Trick from Choice Scarf Latios and Rotom-A if using Cresselia as a lead.

evs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SpD you mention 4 SpA Cresselia in prose, afaik 80 SpD is dump, so lets make it 4 SpA / 76 SpD

  • Cresselia solidifies itself as one of the best support Pokemon in the metagame thanks to its wide movepool and monstrous bulk. Even Choice Band Tyranitar fails to OHKO it, which is a testament to its durability and effectiveness at using vital support moves such as Thunder Wave and Trick Room. we talked about this line on discord It Cresselia (avoiding 'it' repetition) is very reliant on its partners to make up for its own poor offensive presence, but this is rarely a significant drawback as DPP Doubles is full of powerful partners such as Latios, Metagross, and Tyranitar. disagree w this point bc its too generic; better for Cress to mention how it can make up for its shortcomings by boosting powerful teammates with helping hand
  • Psychic 3HKOes Hitmontop and 2HKOes Infernape talked abt this on discord bc of underwhelming benchmarks, which is useful when as Cresselia is commonly paired with Fighting-weak Pokemon like Tyranitar, Rhyperior, and Heatran. (are we sure we want to keep the ice beam mention along with the psychic mention now they're no longer slashed together? imo either move ice beam down or explain why it isnt slashed) With 4 Special Attack EVs reminder to change it in [set], once its in set you can remove the SpA mention, Ice Beam is a guaranteed 3HKO on 4 HP Latios, which would allow lets Cresselia to beat Choice Scarf Latios in a one-on-one endgame scenario.
  • Thunder Wave is Cresselia's most reliable form of Speed control, allowing slow Pokemon like Rhyperior Tyranitar more practical cuz no lightningrod etc and Swampert to outspeed Choice Scarf Latias Latios. A full paralysis can also be quite crucial in the tier's fast-paced matches. (kind of dex info and not specific to cresselia's functioning or w/e; can omit this last line)
  • Helping Hand allows Cresselia to make up for its middling offensive pressure by boosting its ally's damage output. also kind of dex info, may want to consolidate sentences; "HH makes up for Cresselia's middling offensive pressure by boosting powerful attackers like Metagross and Choice Specs Latios, allowing them to KO [...]" This works especially well with powerful attackers like Metagross and Choice Specs Latios allowing them to KO bulky Tyranitar and chipped Cresselia, respectively. Spread move users like Heatran, Rhyperior, and Swampert also greatly appreciate the boost in order to put as much damage on the field as quickly as possible.
  • Trick Room can be devastating with slow, bulky attackers such as Tyranitar, Rhyperior, and Metagross, as it turns their low speed into an advantage against the tier's faster threats. not entirely convinced, bc the trick room itself isnt so devastating. more something like, "Trick Room enables slow, bulky attackers such as [...], breaking faster teams especially with HH support" Icy Wind can be used on faster teams, where it would be is advantageous to slow down Choice Scarf users like Rotom-A and Latios, as well as other fast attackers like Raikou and Infernape.
  • Cresselia can fit a variety of other options such as dual screens to enable teammates to setup, Toxic to wear down other bulky foes, and Safeguard to help shield it and its teammates from opposing Thunder Wave. all of these but toxic are 0 uses so idk, its very fringe... consider whether its really worth mentioning or that its theorymonning
  • The HP and Defense investment along with a Defense boosting nature and Sitrus Berry allow Cresselia to take Adamant Tyranitar's Crunch and a round of Sandstorm Damage twice. do we mention spd dumping? and here you can explain 4 spa is necessary to get the 3hko on latios
  • Tyranitar is one of Cresselia's worst matchups, so support from Fighting-types like Hitmontop and Infernape and Steel-types like Metagross and Scizor to pressure it is appreciated. imo this is more effective: Cresselia appreciates support from Fighting- and Steel-types like Hitmontop, Infernape, and Metagross that can OHKO Tyranitar, as it is [one of] Cresselia's worst matchup. Incidentally, Tyranitar also pairs well with Cresselia,(ac) as it threatens Rotom-A and can go on a tear with Cresselia's Trick Room and Helping Hand support. Heatran and Infernape, along with other Fire-coverage like Zapdos's Heat Wave (low tier mon, are we sure? it hardly blasts bronzong imo) or Rotom-H's Overheat are also useful for blasting Steel-types like Metagross, Bronzong, and Scizor, as Cresselia can't touch them. Cresselia works well in the early game to spread Thunder Wave and great in the late game to secure set up a vital Trick Room going up, but be especially careful it must be wary of Trick from Choice Scarf item sets (i'd argue specs cress cripples it to t6 too) Latios and Rotom-A if when using Cresselia as a lead. (do we wanna put more info on lead cresselia? this is its first mention and it may not be self explanatory)
