Miasmaw è stato ideato per impedire che Pokémon come Blissey e Slowking possano pivottare con Teleport grazie a Taunt e per neutralizzare Regenerator tramite Neutralizing Gas. Draco Meteor è il suo attacco più potente e coglie di sorpresa i Pokémon difensivi come Landorus-T, Tomohawk e Slowbro che si aspettano un set fisico. Earthquake gli permette di colpire Galarian Slowking ed Equilibra, oltre che tipi Rock e Steel quali Tyranitar e Heatran. Thunder gestisce i pivot di tipo Water come Toxapex e Slowbro; essa rappresenta inoltre l'opzione più consistente contro Tapu Fini e Tomohawk. Miasmaw si affianca bene a pivot offensivi quali U-turn Cinderace e Parting Shot Kerfluffle, i quali necessitano che pivot difensivi come Galarian Slowking siano KO per poter agire al meglio, e ai tipi Steel come Magerna, Equilibra e Heatran, che lo aiutano a gestire tipi Fairy come Clefable e Kerfluffle.
